My sister came home every weekend her first year and said it was the worst thing she did. It keeps you from adjusting to and building a life there.
i feel like your mindset just isn't right, i understand that you're homesick but going home every weekend doesn't give you any chance to settle into university - i completely get how awful it can be moving out but you need to give yourself chance to view university as home rather than your previous home. i'm glad you're feeling better about it but try not to be like 'next time i'm in the train station i get to go home' because you're just going round uni with a negative mindset then. just try to throw yourself into university life xx

Hey molly, I relate so much to your feelings about uni, I’m now a second year in Leeds and really hope you grow to love it! I know it can be hard and I definitely found the move difficult but give it a good chance and if you don’t think it’s right then there’s no shame in dropping out! X

Watching this makes me so glad I’m not a student anymore haha. Dropping out was the best thing I ever did. If you know then you know, just make sure you have a plan B and a plan C x
have you thought you thought about studying graphic design? it's digital art rather than traditional art! Also I know how you feel with the homesickness, I recently moved from the west of Ireland to London and I get really homesick and missing all my pets is really hard
Just thought I’d give you some advice from someone who was so so close to dropping out of uni - Staying was the best thing I ever did. You are going to have to move out of home at some point so why not try it now? And it literally is for a few months not forever so you may as well bite the bullet and do it.
Just think of how good you will feel when you get the qualification, and I’m sure when you move home after you’ve done the foundation course you will miss the independence of uni!

My brother came home every weekend for about two months from starting uni last year and he said it was the worst thing to do seeing as then you’ll get into a routine and start to get attached to home❤️❤️
but surely getting this year over and getting a ‘degree’ is better than dropping out. Because u can still do youtuber after you leave uni in June time, but you’ll have at least some qualifications ? Xx

You seem so much happier at home with yr family, dog, boyfriend, car, bedroom. Cud you not just drive to and from Leeds on the three days you need to be there? Uni accommodation doesn't seem to be suiting you. I think it's cos you're mature and very independent.

at the beginging when you move somewhere new you are always going to feel happier and more comfortable at home as it is familiar and you are used to it so it's not as scary as it's within your comfort zone. It takes time to adjust! and everyone has to move out of home eventually as difficult as it is

Hey Molly, I hope you are doing better with how you feel at Univeristy! Was thinking maybe it would be helpful to settle in better at uni if you don’t go back home as often? I know it’s super hard and it’s easy for you to do but it could disrupt your settling in at university, especially at the beginning in the 1st term, like maybe if you still planned ahead and had trips home to look forward to but like monthly or something? xxx

Well done for 100k! I’ve just been around Leeds today I went to Beckett and it’s my favourite university I’ve been to, plus as it’s slightly out of Leeds means I can keep my car. I saw where you go and do your art course as I was walking around it was nice having some knowledge on Leeds from just listening to your channel! Unfortunately I’m ill this weekend and my ears and throat has swollen up so I can’t hear your video :( my driving test is on Tuesday so hopefully I’m better by then!

I’ve been watching these vlogs and they remind me so much of myself.. I dropped out in my first year at the beginning of December in 2016 because I just couldn’t seem to settle being so far away from home and although I made friends and went out I never felt like I “clicked” with anyone you know? I think at first I tried to distract myself and work through it thinking it was just home sickness and would go away but by the end of November when I’d been there two and a half months I just knew there was a good chance it was never going to get better and so decided to leave before I ended up having to pay another £3k for my course. I won’t lie to you, I do look back now and wonder whether actually if I’d have stuck it out I’d have been fine and I definitely look back with rose tinted glasses too BUT I could just tell at the time that it wasn’t for me and I think there’s nothing wrong with admitting that you’ve gone down the wrong path and don’t just stick with something because it’s what everyone else is doing or it’s what you “should” do. Go with your gut and what makes you happy. Two years on and I’m doing an Open Uni degree and have an amazing job and wonderful new people in my life and I’ve done things I never would’ve if I’d have stayed! Don’t be afraid to do what you need to whether it feels like it’s right or wrong, just do what YOU need to. We’ll all have your back no matter what anyways!! X
