The little thing you mentioned at 18:10 about them being taught in the "1960's that black people had a higher pain tolerance and don't need as much care" is one of the biggest contributors to why black women in America have the highest mortality rate during pregnancy and giving birth This is still being taught by med and nursing schools...Someone I know is in nursing school and showed me an actual page out of their textbook that listed the different ethnicities and each of their stereotype about how they deal with pain and accept care. Black people were listed as thinking "pain was a part of life" and "had a higher pain tolerance". This is being taught in 2020.
Can confirm. My BIL is black and my entire family was worried about him being under treated when he had surgery recently. It's 2020 in allegedly nonracist (lolololol) Canada. He's an upper middle class professional. He still was ignored by some of the nurses in post-op. Medicine has a LOT of problems.
So does this guy realize that sometimes in order to “take control” of your life you need to do things like protest against the injustice in the system that’s holding you back? If protesting is necessary in order to remove systemic barriers that prevent you from taking control of your life then doesn’t that make it mature by the standard that this guy outlines. Also protesting is the opposite of not doing anything so why would those two things be equated as both being immature. You can see yourself as victim while also taking action to prevent your victimization in the future. Also I’m guessing that this guy wouldn’t hesitate to play the victim card if he thought if would benefit him just like PragerU and Fox News play the victim card with stuff like the War on Christmas narrative. Blame the lack of a single payer medical insurance system for it. Edit: If you want to read a book about my statement, try reading "Saving Normal". It's written by the Psychiatrist that was in charge of leading the team that wrote the DSM-IV. He very clearly outlines that psychiatrists are incentivized to diagnose on the first appointment because insurance won't pay otherwise, and they are further incentivized to prescribe by Big Pharma.
ah yes, let's use this quote to counter the owl house: “Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.” ― C.S. Lewis
CS Lewis feels like a good example of a Christian progressive. I remember reading a book he wrote that had a gay Christian in it who was not only "tolerated" but appreciated for what he brought as far as perspective and influence in his community. In the early 1900s. For the time, that's pretty nifty.

Okay, serious comment this time. "Containing emotions" is the very thing I did most of my life and it led me to heavy depression and a lack of proper emotional intelligence. I never got mad not because I wasn't capable of anger, but because I didn't know how to, which would lead me to respond horribly when I was finally pushed over the edge. My therapist is trying to help me regain that sense of understanding and control. It's... hard, but I'm finally not responding to confusing emotions by wishing to just die.

Opening up to my therapist about strange problems I had, that I used to be kind of embarrased of, that my parents didn't take seriously,... that was literally the main reason why I was able to figure out and solve so many problems with my mind. Abusive people in my life who told me to shut up, stop being sensitive and contain my emotions were literally the cause of most of my problems. This kind of insensitive thinking was the main reason why it took YEARS for my parents to accept my disability, and one of the main reasons I now still suffer from intrusive thoughts. The little thing you mentioned at 18:10 about them being taught in the "1960's that black people had a higher pain tolerance and don't need as much care" is one of the biggest contributors to why black women in America have the highest mortality rate during pregnancy and giving birth
This is still being taught by med and nursing schools...Someone I know is in nursing school and showed me an actual page out of their textbook that listed the different ethnicities and each of their stereotype about how they deal with pain and accept care. Black people were listed as thinking "pain was a part of life" and "had a higher pain tolerance". This is being taught in 2020.
God that's horrible i wish i could help i feel so powerless reading stuff like this i thought we had a t least progressed somewhat more :(

This is ridiculous, but I suppose that I shouldn’t be surprised.

LEFTY SOY BOY According to a study conducted this year by ACLED and Princeton jointly, only 7% of all demonstrations nationwide since the death of George Floyd (this includes BLM and unrelated ones) escalated to violence of any kind. The remainder of the 93% remained peaceful and involved no criminal activity or escalation of any kind. A majority of the demonstrations measured were racially-involved (which means BLM). It is outright incorrect to say there are no peaceful demonstrations and that they are all riots. Do research. Facts don't care about your feelings tighty-righty.

ah yes, let's use this quote to counter the owl house:
“Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.”
― C.S. Lewis
CS Lewis feels like a good example of a Christian progressive. I remember reading a book he wrote that had a gay Christian in it who was not only "tolerated" but appreciated for what he brought as far as perspective and influence in his community. In the early 1900s. For the time, that's pretty nifty.
