Fantastic video of a really great mall. Shame about how all these smaller area malls are falling on hard times, especially with major anchor stores folding under bankruptcy and poor management. I just found out the JCPenney in one of the malls not far from me just recently closed without a whimper or warning. An example of how you take for granted that brands like Penneys or Sears/Kmart will just be a "thing" forever, and when they're not, that's when you actually miss their presence. It's becoming harder and harder to shop in brick and mortar stores because they're either disappearing or their selection sucks because they know you're just going to shop online anyway; and it's almost like they encourage that to decrease their overhead and having to hire people to do actual customer service. What, with site-to-store options becoming more and more prevalent, as well as their online storefronts offering better coupon and discount codes, and incentives like free shipping over a reasonably low amount spent, it becomes a no-brainer to shop more from home. Those of us who want to try on clothes and shoes, touch linens and handbags and such before buying, etc. get screwed. Anyway... it's a rant I've been on for awhile, and I don't see much changing as times are different from when you and I were growing up. OH, NICE LABELSCAR on the former Lerner store in that mall! And the court in front of the Belk is rather attractive... I live in Pennsylvania now, but grew up in Virginia, where Belk and Dillard's were major retail forces in many malls down there. I'm lucky enough to live within walking distance of a mall where I am now, where there is a Boscov's and that store has become one of my absolute favorite mall retailers... reasonable prices, excellent selection, and an attractive, neatly kept store. I'm not far outside Philadelphia, actually... some retail deadness for sure up around these parts! The Kmart by me recently closed in May... and the grocery store I work for has plans to move into the former space late 2018. I took some pics and shot some video there before the Kmart shuttered. Meanwhile, time marches on. GREAT WORK, Doomie... you're becoming one of my favorite uploaders on RUclips (and that's a pretty short list these days) and I always look forward to the notification of a new video, be it one of your retail or dead mall features or even your Bad Drivers series. You really deserve more subscribers, dude!

5/23/21 - mall is still open - limited hours - horrible mold through the entire building - definite health hazard - Belk (no access from the mall interior), IHOP, a jeweler with minimal hours and a tiny prepaid type cell phone shop are left. Also a piano store with gates down and light off. The pianos must be getting ruined from the mold. I wonder if the owner passed away?

Update: As of 12/11/2020, it looks like this mall is still open for business, although it is down to five stores.

Things have gotten worse for Signal Hill. The GNC is going away.

Another retro mall soon to be demolished for a bland Town center development. It would probably be a better decision to turn the mall into a mixed use development like you mentioned. There is probably a fitness company out there that would take over one of the empty anchors. The other empty anchor could be repurposed for medical or even retailers with outside entrances.

I'm surprised the JCPenney signs are still up I wonder how many people have been fooled by those. Glad to see Belk is still around too.

I wish the smaller dead mall you tube channels were not so over shadowed by Dan Bell. Seams like they can't post a video of a location that he has done and not have people point out that he has done that location
On another note. It was nice to see the fountains still working. Such a rare site to see them still in a mall much less working. I think that once had a purpose other than something to look at. Exactly what I forget. I really wish they would find another use for these buildings if they are still in good shape. So much waist
