As a Republic Services employee I can tell you safety is taken very seriously! With two in such a short period of time the district people will be investigating the matter!

That’s what happens for hiring rookies .. don’t wanna pay more for real drivers

People with no experience aren't allowed to operate any truck of any kind unless they're well trained and have been trained by another driver. Commercial vehicles are extremely dangerous and they require well trained individuals to drive them.

@@josephbennett3482 agree... except...how is one supposed to gain experience if you need pervious experience?
I think a lot has to do with the safety mindset of each individual, along with proper training ofcourse)

@@kingcomments garbage truck drivers are given a training course in how to safely drive them due to them being such large vehicles , the drivers when they first start out are with another driver that is a experienced driver which watches over them so they don't make any mistakes but also before a new driver is left to go on an actual route they do a training course at their garage to familiarize themselves with the trucks maneuverability and if it's an automated side loader or a front load truck the driver learns how to approach the bin and how to retrieve it in different types of simulated environments such as vehicles blocking a bin or a dumpster being in a tight spot.
A waste collection company will usually provide the training for the driver if they don't have any previous experience in driving a trash truck and it often requires extensive weeks of training in order to get qualified for being a driver.

Republic services garbage trucks are nearby me on Wednesdays but I have never seen a garbage truck in my neighborhood next to my school like that or next to my house like that

The cause is almost always overworked drivers. Some working 12 plus hours but no one will ask or tell. Too much politics.

It’s cheaper for companies especially the big companies as long you got a CDL they
Will let you loose and these
    Drivers
    Are
    Going to fast .

Possibly....50% is vehicle maintenance, 50% is operator. You could have a very experienced operator, but if the vehicle isn't properly maintained, could lead to an inevitable disaster.
