I rented a mandolin last Saturday and by Tuesday evening I had this tune down in my fingers and working on the ornamentation. This is the best instructional video I could have asked for. I heard this tune recently on the video of The Mary Wallopers playing it as an outro to Smuggling The Tin. One of the most beautiful melodies I've ever heard. I cant wait to dig into more mandolin videos. After 10 years of playing guitar I think I finally found the instrument I was meant to play! Cheers, Enda! You're the best!
I've got this one on the bouzouki--the big open tuning makes it ring. Although I am not as smooth as I'd like on the 'B' section when you have to slide so far up the neck. I'm going to have to try it on mando now! Thanks for the video, Enda!
