What is the Boon Kai for 0.36 ? anyone know? Looks like it could be a wrist lock for when someone has hold of your wrist maybe. Also she is so impressive! I do Jujitsu and not Karate so don't know all these Katas ha. The Japanese arts are truly amazing!
I can't imagine how powerful and important this is for the young girls in this workshop; to see a woman (World Champion) giving instruction to all (the men in particular are probably regarded as the leaders in many dojo). What a wonderful role-model they have in Usami Sensei.
damn youre that desperate for a female to dominate you, you have to reach for it so hard? In reality she would get destoyed by a 15yo boy with 0 training experience
It's like you could feel the power from her movements is being generated by her core being rooted so deep into the earth. Idk man,.it's wild. Earth bender for sure.
Honestly the most beautiful Kata I have ever seen. When my instructors taught me this is how they imagined they should be performed. The Kata ideal. Such precise and crisp movements, you can tell she is a world champion.
Watching Usami break down sequences the way she does gives one an understanding and appreciation of the tremendous precision required by this discipline.
I love how she teaches in her native language and she seems very welcoming. We can learn even the most challenging and rigorous skills if we devote ourselves to diligent study and stay inspired doing it under the guidance of such masters of their craft such as Sensei Usami.
I remember doing taekwondo forms for 9yrs. There's a certain feeling that overcomes you while you practice. It's not just about making a good movement, you feel it somehow.
Some of the forms in karate are decades if not centuries old. They were designed to bring the mind the body and what the called spirit together. You feel it, as you said, because the bullets have been analyzed in practice and polished to the nth degree to deliver the maximum effect that they were designed for. You are MEANT to feel something when you do the forms correctly. You're meant to feel the power and the speed and the flow all coming together A well practiced and executed Kata is its own form of meditation
Her body mechanics and stance work is beautiful! Keeping elbows in when performing what looks like a grab to pull towards your center of gravity, sinking into the stances at the right moment to maintain stability, and executing the proper form at the right timing using footwork and the hips for the most efficient use of power and energy... Just... wow...
Even when she explains how the kata movements are done, there are absolutely no unnecessary movements. This young lady master is a Kata Greater Goddess.
She is a kata savant. Imagine her as a kid questioning EVERY last detail. "Sensei, when we jump do I look up or straight? Does my left eye look in the same direction as my right? What about my eyebrows? Do they move or... ?"
Cause I was watching some video about the last ninja alive then I saw another of her at some championships then I watched this one and I don't understand Japanese or neither the art. So I'm confused and mesmerised by her at the same time
A few months ago I first saw videos of her forms competitions. I was impressed with her grace, strength, skill, and focus. Now here I see another level of understanding of her art as she passes this knowledge to her junior ranks. She teaches and from the looks inspires. Truly a woman and martial artist who deserves her reputation and her Black Belt.
Katas are the best thing about Karate. Once just after I was doing a kata I experienced being totally one with the body and having no mind, just pure consciousness for about thirty minutes. It's hard to explain, but it was very real.
Im sitting in that crowd with the Icelandic national karate team. I didnt fully grasp how lucky i was to learn from her. Looking back now it was an amazing experience
I used to train shotokan 20 years ago, loved it. Today i have two kids, the eldest being 11. Ive put them both in karate, but shito ryo. Loved to see them doing nekoashidashi lol, in shotokan we almost never did it. But after talking to their sensei, he convinced me to train again! I guess im going to need to get fit so i can actually do it all lol
This is a special woman. Almost every comment in the videos is of her beauty, grace, and power. I love that women like her exist. She's a great role model. What strikes me the most about her is how she can turn the intensity off and on. The first video I've seen (the 2012) championship, she had the most stern look on her face. The next, she was bubbly and excited. I just love that amount of command and focus on this discipline. Because of her, I want to know more about Karate and these formations. I'm about her age, but I'm sure I can learn a lot going forward.
Her depth of knowledge is 2nd to none, each movement she demonstrates is accompanied by the little comments and insights that enable the student to truly understand the techniques. We never had this kind of instruction in the 1970s, (language barriers and no interpreters) she teaching in one lesson what we took years and years to pick up from multiple instructors. I hope these students appreciate what the quality of this education.
JESSE THANK YOU FOR POSTING .I wish she was teaching my classes. I would have learned so much more, shame more of our instructors never got teaching in Japan. The movement of her feet, her use of heel and toes. The placing of the feet to position the body and punches and blocks, brilliant, precise and each flowing in to the next stage of the kata almost like dance.
Excellent coaching Rika. Salient tips and great techniques. Your students are so lucky and your training reach many throughout the globe through this video. Top respect from Kenya.
Power and crispness. And superb teaching. Note she shows the moves in different directions so both sides can see. I watched this with no audio and understood clearly.
Jesse, thank you for sharing this! I'm a bit injury plagued at the moment so an instructional video like this keeps me from losing my mind about not being able to practice!
This is what we call a master. These are a gift to us mortals. They come in different bodies, genders and shapes. Their skill are beyond our capabilities. She was born in the wrong era.
Familiarize yourself with her history, at what age she began training, and what her training routines are. You do that for twenty years or more and you'll be crisp and powerful as well. Remember Bruce Lee's admonition about being wary of the person who's done one kick ten thousand times? Well, extrapolate that to kata.
@@BadWolfSilence Dude, people can acknowledge both. She's world champion for a reason. Obviously, she's an insanely skilled martial artist. Pointing out that she also happens to be gorgeous doesn't invalidate her skill unless you always assume sexist undertones whenever someone compliments her beauty.
Japanese trained very well. My sifu once told me, -" If U go to Japan, U will really learn the art of karate!" Even major black belts have gone there and found out they were beginners only.
