Did you pull apart the check valves? It appears, and maybe you didn’t capture it, that you left the old rubber ring in and only used the spring and other parts? Or are you showing they’ve been replaced? I had a hell of a time seeing and removing every bit of the old check valve. A dentist mirror and 45 deg tweezer from my computer tool kit saved the day. Working backwards though😂
@@RolandKIRO Yes - the check valves came apart in the pipe. I needed a dental mirror, flashlight, and I had to "MacGyver" a tool to reach into the pipe and retrieve the washer-end of the valve that was left behind in the pipe. Worked fine when all was done!
Grease helps to insert rubber parts in the valve body. You can try without grease. So the grease used only for smother installation and doesn't reflect on future work condition.
@@FixitAll do you know how I can find out what handles fit it? My valve cover is fine but the handle is all deformed so I want to just replace that. Having a really hard time finding out online.
This is the first video that I've seen mention supply line inserts (5:05-6:20). My replacements came with these too, but they are too tall and protrude into the way of the cartridge inserting. I took out the old base this time and still had trouble getting these to seat below the metal collar, they protrude almost 1/8" (2.5-3mm). Grohe service wants these installed, they claim the dripping faucet is caused by these not being installed -- but I can't make them seat thoroughly and they break when inserting the cartridge. How can this be solved?
The original cartridge lasted 10 years. Replacement lasted only one year. Our other shower in the house has the same original Grohe cartridge… no problems. Wondering if there’s some other issue / contributing factor specific to this shower i should investigate that’s causing the part to fail? Appreciate any ideas.
The same thing happened to me when replacing this shower cartridge. Just a week ago I replaced this leaking one again after a year with a new one. (will post video soon). It looks like the manufacturer doesn't care about quality, they just want to make money from annual replacements. Unfortunately, all the people are complaining about this new cartridge in their reviews.
@@goatmanbeware I think no. The problem is not the condition of the water. If water can damage a cartridge, then the cartridge you have used for 10 years will wear out in a year because you still have the same water. It's something inside the cartridge made from not very good materials.
@@goatmanbeware @goatmanbeware I am not a plumber...but, I imagine calcium buildup will occur im water heater,,,which will translate to hot water issues throughout the house. My kitchen hot water low pressure, my . grohe shower low pressure. So water softener will extend the life of valves and other filtered areas. I did remove buildup, and replace the cartridge, but, low pressure still exist. I am thinking the check valves are bad...but I dont see how it affects hot water pressure but I can see how it will impact dripping if not properly closing.

An excellent video. I was particularly interested in how the check valves were installed. Nicely done.
Thank you for visiting my channel !

What is the function of the check valve? Is it necessary? Is it sold separately? The check valve I have is broken.
Very helpful video--thanks! Is it necessary to use grease on the unit? My broken one seems to have been greased on installation.

Great video! Do you know what the model number of the cartridge you removed was? Trying to find a handle that will fit one.
Here is a box picture at 5:42, that's all what I know, because the owner was bought it.

Things are not built how they used to be. Nicely done making it look easy to replace...

Hard to say, because I'm not removing the base, only replaced movable parts.
You are right, they should be replaced in one piece, they are too big, have the same problem, braking during installation

Thanks for the reply… very helpful video. One more question… would a water softener help extend the life of these parts?

What does it mean if when turning the water back on to one side the water comes out the front of the Valve gears? Bad non - return valve?
Have no idea how it works. If it was dripping, I just replace it with no other question.
Where did you install the circular large black rubber oring? On the backside of gold valve cover? Thank you
Yes, on brass front cover, you can see the bug ring on 3:58 just when I removed the cover and show in from inside view.
@@FixitAll ok great thank you!!!
Btw, should I put any grease on the oring before installing it? If so what type of grease? Sorry I'm just a lady trying to do it myself ❤
@@thiefy8036 yes better and easier installation with plumbers grease, just Google it in your location.
@@FixitAll thank you!!!!
What is the name of the black part that connects to the handle? This part is broken and I don't know how to purchase it.

what is the part number for the shower catridge? thank you
Check on 5:42-43 minutes of the video.
На нахождение main shutoff valve впору квест устраивать, с солидным призом. Заначку так не спречешь как этот кран. :)
Сто пудов, никто бы не нашёл 😆
You missed the shut off valves on the sides. I can see them in the video. You wouldn't have needed to climb inside that cabinet.
I prefer not to turn the side valves. There were cases that after their turns, they began to let water through.
His shut off valves on the hot water side is not even fully turned on.
@@FixitAll I believe I am struggling with this problem. Is there a way to fix it?

That's simple - installation back all together parts, I thought it is not interesting to watch.

Не предусмотрели те строители кто кран ставили при постройке дома, что в этой комнатке построят шкафы для продуктов.
