There was this guy named Leonard Matlovich. He was a Vietnam war veteran and he was also homosexual. Years after he was dismissed from the military, he died from Leukemia. Today written on his epitaph is "When I was in the military they gave me a medal for killing two men, and a discharge for loving one".

I'm just living my life as I choose without anyone preaching at me or telling me where to go or how to feel about things. I'm thinking, I'm questioning things, I'm feeling, I'm empathizing. And I feel it's made me a better person. I feel more true to myself this way, and I wouldn't change anything about how I'm doing it. This can be taken as the speaker saying they plan on going against the more traditional views of love. In modern times the most commonly viewed sin related to love is being gay.
I personally think that the meaning can be stretched to fit other things as well and that there's no set thing it's about. I feel it's more about liberation from traditional views that feel suffocating, in general.

Back again from 6 months ago and this song still makes me think fondly about my girlfriend. We'll have been dating for a year fairly soon. The challenges we face as a lesbian couple are frustrating and because of harassment we've ended up in tears. We've still held strong though and I cannot wait to marry her. This song just hits me hard because sometimes I'm worried I'm holding her back because of us being both girls. However, I love her more than anything and nothing can stop me from loving her.

This song is just beautiful. Idk if shes singing about LGBT relationships, or interracial relationships, or interreligious etc.. This song emphasizes how you shouldn't let others make you feel like you're a lesser being than them and that if others disapprove, then so be it as long as you can be happy. I love this song so much and when I showed it to my girlfriend she nearly cried. Definitely gonna binge on her songs for a while

I grew up in an Orthodox-Catholic family, and as I grew up I become more open minded to the world around me. I fully support gays,lesbians etc. Wholeheartedly but my family doesn't and every time I try to either defend or put out my opinion of the matter I'm always getting shut down by them. Which truly hurts and I believe once again everyone deserves love from whoever they desire and never let anyone else tell you otherwise

Lauren Aquilina is such a wonderful singer. I've loved every single one of her songs. They are beautiful. The lyrics, her voice, the beat, everything. It's all poetry and art, and yet why is she not recognized for her talent, sigh. I'm so done with the same songs playing on the radio over and over and over. I don’t know if anyone really cares because this isn’t some passionate love story but a pretty sad one. When I was in 3rd grade I was bullied pretty bad, enough to the point when I considered suicide, but I met a friend. She was my help without her knowing. I was best friends with her until sixth grade. Here’s why, my other still best friend is been openly gay and gender fluid for almost two years, and I am pansexual. Well, this old friend was very serious about her religion and used “the verse” against us. It hurt the both of us. A lot. She had good intentions, I know. But this girl had practically brought me back to life in my eyes, and then she kind of dug my face in the dirt after about three years of being so close and goofing around, but something so little as who we love breaks off something that once saved a life. If you haven’t felt anything like this, great, I’m happy for you, but I’ll tell you one thing, it really sucks.
That does really suck. I’m really glad you're still alive though. Be yourself, love your sexuality because it’s a part of yourself, and tell your best friend (the genderfluid one) to do so as well. Good luck. You deserve to be loved and cherished for exactly who you are.

If there is one thing I learnt from being Christian is to always show understanding and compassion. Let's not judge others and say we are holier than thou.. Let's justwork on perfecting ourselves and being kinder to the people around us regardless of their beliefs. We should not impose our beliefs on others. There are so many religions. Our job is to give back to society and help those in need.
