Hi Mike, Texas Hill Country rivers: typically a darker green, when they look a little (or a lot) milky, that is due to increased lime runoff after rain, so you know there is definitely a stronger current than usual. I like your music selections - a lot!

How awesome! I’ll be thru hiking the lone star trail, and I’ve already practiced with my dehydrated food just to make sure I will actually be able to eat it once im out there.

Planning on checking this park out this weekend. Which trails were your favorite?

Bald Cypress, River Overlook, and Barred Owl. Painted Bunting Trail is nice if it's not too hot and the pretty plant Snow on the Mountain is blooming now which that trail has a lot of. Not much shade there except by the river. I haven't been to the Bauer unit so I can't comment on that.

Mike's Hikes and Trail Archives I plan to visit the Bauer unit as well. The park looks great for families. Looking forward to hiking the park.
