I'll never forget the first time (of many times) that I heard Incantations. OH MY GOD...where was I going. I felt like I was remembering something that I....couldnt possibly have knowledge of. Something ancient. I felt like getting up and doing some sort of tribal dance. I was totally entranced by it. This bit here at 8.04 and onwards....oh god it brings tears to my eyes its so good....
All, apart from the director in the vision gallery who had no idea of the music and instrument changes, where to get the camera on the talented person playing, of that time though I guess, more sophisticated these days. Great to see it though. Oh a thank you to whobearUK too for uploading.
Ommadawn is still Oldfield's Magnum Opus imo, but Incantations is very, very close. The divine touched this man deeply. Thank you Michael, from the very bottom of my being.
Wow, traded in my Barbie dolls to buy this album when living in Hastings! To see this live and properly performed, WOW, I can still type the words to the song, as I did in 1980
Yes, hard to imagine how it can all be conceived. This subject with electric guitar from 8:17 is actually the earlier theme that uses trumpets but played backwards. You can time-reverse the recording to hear each one transform into the other. I did not realize he had done this until a few weeks ago, I never stop to see something new in Incantations on each listen.
Bloody hell! Got to admit, I am a person that usually likes thrash/death metal, with a lapse into some classical and prog rock. But, Mike Oldfield taught me a vital lesson; that not all music needs strepsil sponsored vocals and power chords to sound cool. WhobearUK, I salute you. Cheers for sharing these amazing videos. If I ever cross paths with you one day, I would buy you a pint. Many thanks!
Its certainly one of Mike's most plectrum heavy performances. However, Mike also used a plectrum for the 1981 live versions of the combined Platinum Parts 3 and 4 as well as the epic Art In Heaven encore from Berlin 2000.
Simply Incantations!
Mike Oldfield: the best ever.

Divine, then & now.
This version is terrific. Actually, from Mike, all is terrific.

Is this the longest period of time that Mr Oldfield has ever used a plectrum for? Awesome piece of music this is :D

A wonderful musician, but after Songs of Distant Earth he get lost...
für ein Live-Konzert von Mike Oldfield würde ich um die halbe Welt fliegen. (Ich weiß, es wird nicht dazu kommen.)

Wer hat die Instrumentierung geschrieben? Oldfield? Oder hatte er Hilfe?
He knows, he is a very clever man. Indishquinable.i am wrong. know not how to speak. flounder.
Would that be the 1968 TV special Elvish or the fat jump-suit Elvish?
オカリナで練習した よいメロディです
