The ghosting is due to a manufacturing error. There are several on their Discord that had this problem, they just returned their RP4 and got a new one.
PS2 & GameCube not being "plug & play" is the nature of emulation. SotC, GoW, and many other games require specific tweaks to get them working correctly. That's because developers used all sorts of technical tricks and hacks to get them running on their original consoles. There is no 1 size fits all when it comes to emulating anything past PSX.
Eventually, when the emulators get good enough, there will be ways to avoid having to tune things. As I said, I mostly enjoy getting games to run smooth, it's part of the fun but there are times of frustration as well. What's your favorite game?
So glad to find out what you hate. Nevermind what you like let's deal with the hate first. Just like life... Why celebrate what's good when we can look at the bad stuff first. We can get to the positives after we've focused on those important negatives.
lol, hates are most important, they are not talked about enough, things that could be determining factors for someone, there is an insane number of videos about this device and I did one about my initial impressions and really liking the device, so what comes next? ;)
@@DouglasThompsonDon't see the one about you liking it. I checked your video history before I made my comment and it was all racing videos and one about some cables 🤨
I like mine. Some switch stuff worked for a bit but skyrim will crash after you leave helgan. As for PS2 so far all my games I have tried have been perfect out of the box. Except 2. Starwars Battlefront and Battlefront 2. Can't get them to run at 60fps. I don't know much about tinkering with settings to get them to work. I did find a workaround at least for me. Since the games will run at 50 and a little over at times, I went with the PAL versions of the game since PAL games operate at 50FPS while NTSC games operate at 60fps.
I bought my steam deck for plug and play. I bought the RP4P to LEARN once and for all how to install these emu’s and games the old fashioned way! I want to learn how to tweak and maximize settings. I look at this as a skill!
those skill could be learned on you android phone. i am pretty sure modern 300-400$ android phone can emulate up to gamecube and ps2 with excluding few games and still some can be played by tweeking settings.

Well, there's the rampant issue of mechanical failures. Right triggers failing, Screen getting messed up as if it took a hard blow, bad thermals, bad battery life and fan defects. Imma wait for the revision from the preorder units.
I think retroid will take care of people if units fail, I have noticed my right trigger makes a small pop noise like a spring is bound up on the trigger return.
@@DouglasThompson It was still a bad QC on retroid's part. They can send replacement parts, sure. But it can still be a pain for those like me who're not that good on tinkering the device possibly voiding the warranty. My RP4pro came and in 24 hours the R2 Trigger broke down just like many others. The issue is I paid extra money for DHL, now they maybe doing regular shipping for the replacement parts which Im sure is going to take at least another month. (Apparently its holiday now and they are not even responding) Basically this is not a very good customer service approach, as they should have made sure we receive the replacement asap for a device that malfunctions in 24 hours. I would not buy this device unless the issue is resolved and there is respectable customer service.
I'm sorry to hear that...I hope mine doesn't suffer the same fate. This will be a good opportunity for retroid to show the strength of thier customer service and cement them as an actual trustworthy brand if they handle this properly.
@@DouglasThompson They announced after the units post 30th Jan, this may be resolved you should be fine. I've been able to run some ps2 games at like 5x resolution, obviously once you get past a certain amount of resolution, you cant even tell because the panel is only 1080p i think but I guess it just really depends on the game and how optimized or taxing it is.
