Surely, he will look at the umbrella, reassured, before the umbrella collapses and he falls. Not quite, but I swear to you, we're finally in the home stretch. The umbrella collapses...and he continues to float in the air, surprise bukkaked onto his stupid fucking face, for a couple more seconds before finally, _mercifully,_ falling to his death. You know why dying isn't nearly as drawn-out and irritating in other platformers? Very late response, but the connection between 本 and books is a later innovation, and AFAIK only Japanese uses it with that specific meaning (in Chinese it serves as a classifier for books, roughly equivalent to "copy" or "edition"-the main words for "book" are 書/书 and 冊/册, the latter mostly in Classical Chinese and Southern Min languages). The alternate meaning "root, stem; origin" is the original and is more clearly reflected in the older forms of the graph, which depict a tree with roots extending downward.
