Santal 33 and Bacarat Rouge 45 are probably the cilantro of fragrances - you either think it’s amazing or it smells like dill dressing and medical rubber gloves🤣 For me Santal 33 is definitely an acquired taste - I remember cringing so hard when I first smelled it but these days I’ve learned to appreciate it ! That said I think the CLEAN version is so so much better - it’s not a dupe , it’s a much more welcoming, feminine, refreshing and watery version of it.
And cheaper!! I pulled out my sample of Santal 33 yesterday and waited more for the dry down….and I got less pickle juice. Maybe I just need to woo it and spend more time with it. 😂
Grab n go for me would be Versace crystal noir, Mon Guerlain sparkling bouquet, pure perle Morabito, Gucci bloom, Mugler aura sensuelle, dolce lily, jpg pin up, etcetc ❤️😘
I love love the D&G Light Blue Intense, I first bought the Light Blue original which doesn't last long. I would love to try Zen since I've read another review about it. Thanks for introducing me to other fresh fragrances.
Zen has been popping up a lot lately. I really want to try it! I agree with a lot of these. I would also add Arizona Bloom, Wood Sage and Sea Salt, MontBlanc Signature, and Musk Therapy

I just tried Versense at CDG airport in Paris a few minutes ago right after watching this video (long layover). It does indeed smell nice, but it's definitely not priced under $50 here at the airport! I loved the scent, though--thank you for introducing me to it.
Oh yes….airports probably going to pay more. I just looked it up now…here in the states it’s 60$ at Max Aroma. I got mine on fragrance net or fragrance. CA for less…..glad you had a chance to sample it! 🥰
Lately, I’m in love with Clean Reserve Solar Bloom. It’s a light coconut scent with a note of coal. It’s really light with a hint of depth (from the coal). You have to overspray like crazy, but it lasts 5 hours on me.

16:23 PUPPERS! I've discovered recently that a few of the vintage Avon scents I picked up are great white T-shirt scents too. Zany, Sweet Honesty, Field Flowers, and Hawaiian White Ginger. Light Blue is such a clean, fresh classic. I'm going to have to look into the Almond Coconut Laura Mercier. I'm a sucker for both of those scents. 🥰 Zen by Shiseido is also great! so many great choices for sunny days.
Lol! That is my dog Lady Fanny. I had completely forgotten I let her out (our yard is fenced) and when I was editing….was laughing because she sneaks in and out several times!!! She is 12 but acts like a puppy…very happy and adventurous. I used to love Avon scents! I don’t have an Avon person anymore….I miss their stuff!
Omg! I used to wear Zany when I was around 7 yrs old! I can still remember exactly what it smells like! You're the first person that I've ever seen who mentioned it!
I used to love Zen back in the day. I think I need to revisit that one!! And those Laura Mercier fragrances are so intriguing! And you're 100% right: Versense DOES smell like the juice looks. I just put the Chance Eau Fraiche into my cart before I watched this. Hm...Maybe I should rethink that. I do really like the Her EDT. I'll probably grab that one soon. Perhaps the "dill salad" isn't for me, although the notes sound AMAZING.
Oh and if you’re thinking about buying Chanel Au Fraiche….save your money. Versence is cheaper and fresher. Note to self….more socks to add to the box. 😂😂

For me it’s Blanc Polychrome, Gypsy Water and Voyage by Hermes. My favourite coconut is Pacific Lime but it’s my bikini scent. I agree with you that Light Blue is the ultimate white tshirt scent but I don’t own it anymore. I finished my bottle years ago , one day I might repurchase is again but due to big collection I have other fragrance to use meantime. Nice video, I discovered you recently and I enjoy listening to you as it’s a parfum conversation! Just found you and I'm loving your channel! Yes to Shiseido Zen and it took me awhile to appreciate it. I would add Poets of Berlin by Vilhelm which is a new find and I can't quite describe other than to say it's unusual in a wonderful way and the notes do not describe what I get from the experience of wearing it. Demi Rawling calls it a "green vanilla" and I smell something almost savory, sesame. It's also a tribute to David Bowie and I loved him! I may pull the trigger on a full bottle.

PS. I just thought of another one I'd put on this list although I think it's now discontinued. Florabotanica by Balenciaga. Aromatic and green and it also took me awhile to appreciate. The bottle is gorgeous and I simply love seeing it on my shelf. It's great for warm, humid days in the midwest and I know them well. I grew up just outside of St. Louis and now live in Indianapolis. We need those crisp, clean scents in July and August!

Yes!!! I've always said the Moschino I Love Love looks just like Olive Oyle from Popeye!!!! That funny nub on the cap looks just like her funny upturned nose or her bun and the long bottle is just like her long skirt she always wears!!!! Wood Sage and Sea Salt is a nice fresh scent, I also get complimented on Mont Blanc Signature, that light citrus but vanilla sweet scent, and affordable too :)
Yes I've been reaching for fresher ones too, even the ones with zero longevity, I just like the cooling spritz experience. It's been 30+ here for the last 5 days so that's pretty hot for us.
Yes it’s a great unisex one. So is CK One Gold (marketed to men but totally unisex and delish. Of course I forgot to show it. I’ll show it this month. I agree, it's Light Blue Intense for me too as the original is so fleeting. You should try Moschino Toy 2 if you never have. I blind bought a travel spray from Ross and it is so good even though I always shied away from "fresh laundry" or "shampoo" scents this is so white T-shirt casual in feel and I love it so much as it opens with some citrus. Ahh I love this category of fragrance 😌 Lake & Skye 11 11 would probably be what I would consider the epitome of a white T-shirt fragrance 🤍 Carolina Herrera 212 would be perfect as well 🥰 I totally get dill pickle from Santal 33 too! Maison Louis Marie bois de balincourt is exactly the same thing- total dill pickle. I guess certain sandalwoods lean that way 🤷🏻♀️ But I can almost imagine what those who love it are getting, I just can’t flip the switch in my brain to smell anything but dill 😅

My white-T and jeans scents are L'Imperatrice (I'm in my 3rd bottle), Rose by Paul Smith (a fresh sheer modern rose), Orange Blossom by Jo Malone, White Tea by Elizabeth Arden and Truth by Calvin Klein ( I can't believe nobody talks about it!!!). I was going to mention Chloé L'eau but I think it's more of a crisp white shirt scent, more elevated. Love the first sunglasses 😎😘

I don’t know if this would be considered more a your skin but better scent than a white t shirt scent but I am going to say Essential Faith and both of its flankers, Aura(extra vanilla) and Bliss ( extra coconut).
Chris, I love to know what you wear hiking! I have "hiking" perfumes, too, for each season, but there aren't that many that are great for summer hiking. My summer hiking perfumes have to not attract hornets and smell best when I sweat. Yesterday I hiked while wearing Light Blue Intense. One of my other faves for summer hiking is Byredo "G Water." I had Sel Santal which I loved when I bought it but then I quickly went off it- it changed for me or I changed or something- so I gave it away.
I love that you also have hiking fragrances!!! You hike wearing Gypsy Water?!! That is a bougie hike! 😂😂But absolutely that evergreen in there…it’s light…juniper…excellent choice! Zen I like to wear hiking in the summer and on a cold day it’s always Milky Musk by Parle Moi de Parfum. I’m trying to expand my group of fragrances in that category and bought a bunch from an Indie house…but they weren’t what I was looking for. I need to try them again. First impression wasn’t good.

Well, I should admit that I wear the Alexandria dupe for Gypsy Water when I'm hiking in summer because it lasts through sweat better than the OG but it smells just about the same. However, I don't mind wearing bougie niche when hiking because when I'm hiking is one of the times when I'm most happy and I like to wear my fave perfumes when I'm most happy because I like to associate my favorites with happy, relaxed times. It doesn't seem a waste to me because it's about celebrating good times. I need to get my nose on Milky Musk, so thanks for reminding me. If you discover anymore I'd love to know them, but I don't think a "hiking perfumes" specific video would be what most people want- there would be a very small audience for that.

We have the beautiful Blue Ridge Mtns here, the Smokies, etc. However, I've also lived in and hiked in a bunch of other East Coast states as well as been hiking in NM and CA, but I have never hiked where you are. One of the hiking smells that I love and have never been able to replicate exactly was in NM in Bandelier Natl Monument hiking when the sun was beating down on the pinon and juniper- I loved that smell. They make incense but it's nowhere near the smell. I also love the smell of hiking in Maine. In the drier summertime in NC when it's sunny and warm I really love the smell of sun on the forest floor of pine needles and also the smell of Hemlock trees.

It’s usually really hot and dry during the day and that fragrance is perfect. Anytime I wear it I’m immediate transported to St George. I love that. I miss it also. I went every year for a week until Covid hit. So want to get back…

Jeanne d'arthes verveine is glorious and costs pennies, pomellato artemisia is cheap as chips and smells like the gorgeous mojito Guerlain Homme which I also wear. What else.... Oh eau du sud by goutal, l'urbaniste by Al haramain, and probably a hunch more! Xxx
It's funny because I own CK IN2U for Her, which is sometimes compared to Santal 33 (which I never smelled). I like it, but everytime I smell it I have a "McDonald's vibe". Being French, I'm not familiar with pickles/dills salad but now I can't help but assume that's where this McDonald vibe is coming from ! 😅
I smelled santal 33 on someone this weekend and I had to comment wow you smell so good! It was almost creamy. But by itself I do smell the dill pickle. On her it just worked!
I have mixed feelings about Santal 33...I wanted to like it, but I do smell the dill, but when it dries down on my skin it is much more pleasant...but I think I’m too scared of it smelling bad to buy a full bottle. 😂 Queens and Monsters by Henry Rose is a much more elegant sandalwood in my opinionn, it’s creamy and slightly sweet.

@@MelBscents yea I had no clue it had a “scent sibling” and I did a cute guessing game /mystery fragrance on IG and based on the notes….they came up with Santal Blanc! This one is Mon Ami by Gritti. It was a “behind the counter fragrance” the SA pulled out after showing me about 10 fragrances and nothing was grabbing me. Mon Ami is lovely. But I personally don’t put a ton of weight at on on the “smells like” Fragrantica segment there. Some of the suggestions have my eyes watering and bulging (um…no….they smell nothing alike). 😂😂so I will find that darn sample eventually of get another!

I tried Burberry for her edt and loved it but then I realized it smelled like a little shyer cousin of angel nova which I already owned. So I didn't go for it. But so so nice in the summer!
@@ThePerfumeNest I'm a newbie to perfume so I have no idea how interesting they'd smell to a more experienced nose like yours. Some other reviewers enjoy layering with them. I'd ignore the complaints in the reviews about how small the sample dabber vials are. It's actually a decent amount of product because a little oil goes a long way.

Dior (the Cruise Collection scents) and Guerlain Eau de Cologne Imperiale & Eau de Cologne du Coq. ~ Most Guerlain Aqua Allegoria scents are for me ... Herbal Fresca, Mandarine Basilic On & on. ~ C.O. Bigelow Lemon Nº 1999. Love's Lemon Scent by MEM. ~ Czech & Speake Neroli. Thee neroli that made me love neroli. ~ Sweet Pea and Clover are my current, beloved notes of the summer. The notes I'm looking into & thinking I might like everything that contains them. :/ (will & must not.) Eg. .... Love, Chloe Eau Florale Chloé and Vent de Folie by Goutal are my next To Buy. Will likely add those two. Love Eau D'Italie, their original scent. TerraNova Rain, a stunning cheapie. Have taken up too much space. Lovely video, as always. And I have to be honest here, sorry for this slightly uncomfortable confession, a little awkward, I know, but I have never smelled Light Blue, any of them. There, said it. I just am not drawn to designer fragrances so much and especially ones that are quite popular are just not so much on my radar. Is that weird? I know I know, I am a middle aged woman, ahem, yes the blue hair is a sign of a mid life crisis, and I should have come across this one. But I just was never drawn to smell it. Maybe the bottle just doesn‘t wow me. I know, so superficial of me. And no, I am not a niche snob, I do own quite a few designers. But yes, I said it. Feeling relieved now. Pheeeww.

I usually get free shipping. Maybe there is a minimum? I know it’s not much. My once piece of advice is to never buy a perfume for the first time on eBay or Mercari (or Esp Amazon). You never know if you got a fake….then you are stuck with junk. Only if you are very familiar with a perfume do you can spot a counterfeit.

@@toniapedd I’d just wait then. The 20 or so dollars of savings is NOT worth it. You don’t know how old the eBay bottle is. Only buy second hand if you are very familiar with a scent. If I have one piece of advice…that would be it. Save your money for something fancy you can wear in fall and winter and maybe revisit Zen next year. Someone recently DM’d me and said that Demi Rowling also had Zen in one of her recent videos. Once bottles of perfume get a lot of exposure on social media, and demand goes up, price goes up. So that might be what’s happening. I see it ALL the time. Maybe in a few months IG will come back down. And chit chatting with subs /followers is the best part of YT. I appreciate your support. ❤️

Richard Italy will be so nice in September. It was just so hot mid July…… I brought one decant for the first city …Venice (Eden Roc) and bought the rest there. I will always think of Venice when I wear Eden Roc and will have great memories of the other cities when I wear my Italian purchases….

Hello Chris: Would you consider a video on "home fragrances"? I remember some time ago you mentioned you used to make candles? So how do you fragrance your home now? I work from home, and I do burn candles, incense, sage, copal, wax melts, etc. But, lately I feel I haven't found anything with a strong enough scent. I feel like everything has been watered-down, or maybe I'm just not choosing the right scents. The one thing I haven't tried is bakhoor. Or you can give me your opinion via DM on Instagram. I have 3 dogs and a hedgehog so the mud room (where a few sleep) and the hedgehog room get a BBW plug in! 🤦♀️😂😂With YT and IG I have no time for candles although I do them in the winter and I only burn my candles because I know what’s in them. 🥰🥰😂😂😂Cherie is a great resource. ❤️
Santal 33 and Bacarat Rouge 45 are probably the cilantro of fragrances - you either think it’s amazing or it smells like dill dressing and medical rubber gloves🤣 For me Santal 33 is definitely an acquired taste - I remember cringing so hard when I first smelled it but these days I’ve learned to appreciate it ! That said I think the CLEAN version is so so much better - it’s not a dupe , it’s a much more welcoming, feminine, refreshing and watery version of it.
And cheaper!! I pulled out my sample of Santal 33 yesterday and waited more for the dry down….and I got less pickle juice. Maybe I just need to woo it and spend more time with it. 😂
I love Zen and Zen is so under rated and unappreciated. I’ve had Zen since 2014 I think and I still love it!

I just tried Versense at CDG airport in Paris a few minutes ago right after watching this video (long layover). It does indeed smell nice, but it's definitely not priced under $50 here at the airport! I loved the scent, though--thank you for introducing me to it.

Lately, I’m in love with Clean Reserve Solar Bloom. It’s a light coconut scent with a note of coal. It’s really light with a hint of depth (from the coal). You have to overspray like crazy, but it lasts 5 hours on me.
I have that one also! I got it middle of summer and really enjoyed several in the line. (Clean Reserve had a big Father’s Day 50% off sale).
I wasn't keep on Burberry her EDP but I like the EDT! Definitely worth trying for people who dislike the EDP.

I've discovered recently that a few of the vintage Avon scents I picked up are great white T-shirt scents too. Zany, Sweet Honesty, Field Flowers, and Hawaiian White Ginger.
Light Blue is such a clean, fresh classic. I'm going to have to look into the Almond Coconut Laura Mercier. I'm a sucker for both of those scents. 🥰 Zen by Shiseido is also great! so many great choices for sunny days.
Lol! That is my dog Lady Fanny. I had completely forgotten I let her out (our yard is fenced) and when I was editing….was laughing because she sneaks in and out several times!!! She is 12 but acts like a puppy…very happy and adventurous. I used to love Avon scents! I don’t have an Avon person anymore….I miss their stuff!

Perhaps the "dill salad" isn't for me, although the notes sound AMAZING.

Just found you and I'm loving your channel! Yes to Shiseido Zen and it took me awhile to appreciate it. I would add Poets of Berlin by Vilhelm which is a new find and I can't quite describe other than to say it's unusual in a wonderful way and the notes do not describe what I get from the experience of wearing it. Demi Rawling calls it a "green vanilla" and I smell something almost savory, sesame. It's also a tribute to David Bowie and I loved him! I may pull the trigger on a full bottle.

PS. I just thought of another one I'd put on this list although I think it's now discontinued. Florabotanica by Balenciaga. Aromatic and green and it also took me awhile to appreciate. The bottle is gorgeous and I simply love seeing it on my shelf. It's great for warm, humid days in the midwest and I know them well. I grew up just outside of St. Louis and now live in Indianapolis. We need those crisp, clean scents in July and August!

Ahh I love this category of fragrance 😌 Lake & Skye 11 11 would probably be what I would consider the epitome of a white T-shirt fragrance 🤍 Carolina Herrera 212 would be perfect as well 🥰 I totally get dill pickle from Santal 33 too! Maison Louis Marie bois de balincourt is exactly the same thing- total dill pickle. I guess certain sandalwoods lean that way 🤷🏻♀️ But I can almost imagine what those who love it are getting, I just can’t flip the switch in my brain to smell anything but dill 😅

My white-T and jeans scents are L'Imperatrice (I'm in my 3rd bottle), Rose by Paul Smith (a fresh sheer modern rose), Orange Blossom by Jo Malone, White Tea by Elizabeth Arden and Truth by Calvin Klein ( I can't believe nobody talks about it!!!). I was going to mention Chloé L'eau but I think it's more of a crisp white shirt scent, more elevated. Love the first sunglasses 😎😘

Chris, I love to know what you wear hiking! I have "hiking" perfumes, too, for each season, but there aren't that many that are great for summer hiking. My summer hiking perfumes have to not attract hornets and smell best when I sweat. Yesterday I hiked while wearing Light Blue Intense. One of my other faves for summer hiking is Byredo "G Water." I had Sel Santal which I loved when I bought it but then I quickly went off it- it changed for me or I changed or something- so I gave it away.

Zen I like to wear hiking in the summer and on a cold day it’s always Milky Musk by Parle Moi de Parfum. I’m trying to expand my group of fragrances in that category and bought a bunch from an Indie house…but they weren’t what I was looking for. I need to try them again. First impression wasn’t good.

Well, I should admit that I wear the Alexandria dupe for Gypsy Water when I'm hiking in summer because it lasts through sweat better than the OG but it smells just about the same. However, I don't mind wearing bougie niche when hiking because when I'm hiking is one of the times when I'm most happy and I like to wear my fave perfumes when I'm most happy because I like to associate my favorites with happy, relaxed times. It doesn't seem a waste to me because it's about celebrating good times. I need to get my nose on Milky Musk, so thanks for reminding me. If you discover anymore I'd love to know them, but I don't think a "hiking perfumes" specific video would be what most people want- there would be a very small audience for that.

We have the beautiful Blue Ridge Mtns here, the Smokies, etc. However, I've also lived in and hiked in a bunch of other East Coast states as well as been hiking in NM and CA, but I have never hiked where you are. One of the hiking smells that I love and have never been able to replicate exactly was in NM in Bandelier Natl Monument hiking when the sun was beating down on the pinon and juniper- I loved that smell. They make incense but it's nowhere near the smell. I also love the smell of hiking in Maine. In the drier summertime in NC when it's sunny and warm I really love the smell of sun on the forest floor of pine needles and also the smell of Hemlock trees.

It’s usually really hot and dry during the day and that fragrance is perfect. Anytime I wear it I’m immediate transported to St George. I love that. I miss it also. I went every year for a week until Covid hit. So want to get back…

Jeanne d'arthes verveine is glorious and costs pennies, pomellato artemisia is cheap as chips and smells like the gorgeous mojito Guerlain Homme which I also wear. What else.... Oh eau du sud by goutal, l'urbaniste by Al haramain, and probably a hunch more! Xxx

It's funny because I own CK IN2U for Her, which is sometimes compared to Santal 33 (which I never smelled). I like it, but everytime I smell it I have a "McDonald's vibe". Being French, I'm not familiar with pickles/dills salad but now I can't help but assume that's where this McDonald vibe is coming from ! 😅

I smelled santal 33 on someone this weekend and I had to comment wow you smell so good! It was almost creamy. But by itself I do smell the dill pickle. On her it just worked!

I have mixed feelings about Santal 33...I wanted to like it, but I do smell the dill, but when it dries down on my skin it is much more pleasant...but I think I’m too scared of it smelling bad to buy a full bottle. 😂 Queens and Monsters by Henry Rose is a much more elegant sandalwood in my opinionn, it’s creamy and slightly sweet.

@@MelBscents yea I had no clue it had a “scent sibling” and I did a cute guessing game /mystery fragrance on IG and based on the notes….they came up with Santal Blanc! This one is Mon Ami by Gritti. It was a “behind the counter fragrance” the SA pulled out after showing me about 10 fragrances and nothing was grabbing me. Mon Ami is lovely. But I personally don’t put a ton of weight at on on the “smells like” Fragrantica segment there. Some of the suggestions have my eyes watering and bulging (um…no….they smell nothing alike). 😂😂so I will find that darn sample eventually of get another!

I tried Burberry for her edt and loved it but then I realized it smelled like a little shyer cousin of angel nova which I already owned. So I didn't go for it. But so so nice in the summer!

@@ThePerfumeNest I'm a newbie to perfume so I have no idea how interesting they'd smell to a more experienced nose like yours. Some other reviewers enjoy layering with them. I'd ignore the complaints in the reviews about how small the sample dabber vials are. It's actually a decent amount of product because a little oil goes a long way.

Lovely video, as always. And I have to be honest here, sorry for this slightly uncomfortable confession, a little awkward, I know, but I have never smelled Light Blue, any of them. There, said it. I just am not drawn to designer fragrances so much and especially ones that are quite popular are just not so much on my radar. Is that weird? I know I know, I am a middle aged woman, ahem, yes the blue hair is a sign of a mid life crisis, and I should have come across this one. But I just was never drawn to smell it. Maybe the bottle just doesn‘t wow me. I know, so superficial of me. And no, I am not a niche snob, I do own quite a few designers. But yes, I said it. Feeling relieved now. Pheeeww.

I usually get free shipping. Maybe there is a minimum? I know it’s not much. My once piece of advice is to never buy a perfume for the first time on eBay or Mercari (or Esp Amazon). You never know if you got a fake….then you are stuck with junk. Only if you are very familiar with a perfume do you can spot a counterfeit.

@@toniapedd I’d just wait then. The 20 or so dollars of savings is NOT worth it. You don’t know how old the eBay bottle is. Only buy second hand if you are very familiar with a scent. If I have one piece of advice…that would be it. Save your money for something fancy you can wear in fall and winter and maybe revisit Zen next year. Someone recently DM’d me and said that Demi Rowling also had Zen in one of her recent videos. Once bottles of perfume get a lot of exposure on social media, and demand goes up, price goes up. So that might be what’s happening. I see it ALL the time. Maybe in a few months IG will come back down. And chit chatting with subs /followers is the best part of YT. I appreciate your support. ❤️

Richard Italy will be so nice in September. It was just so hot mid July…… I brought one decant for the first city …Venice (Eden Roc) and bought the rest there. I will always think of Venice when I wear Eden Roc and will have great memories of the other cities when I wear my Italian purchases….

Hello Chris: Would you consider a video on "home fragrances"? I remember some time ago you mentioned you used to make candles? So how do you fragrance your home now? I work from home, and I do burn candles, incense, sage, copal, wax melts, etc. But, lately I feel I haven't found anything with a strong enough scent. I feel like everything has been watered-down, or maybe I'm just not choosing the right scents. The one thing I haven't tried is bakhoor. Or you can give me your opinion via DM on Instagram.
