just saying this now as a fairly newer sprout sitting at level 69 and just finished heavensward. I started and stopped this game 3 different times over the previous 2 years because its very slow to get going but my son also plays it and he has thousands and thousands of hours into it so I gave it another chance but had him escorting me and telling me what to do. The MSQ in first expansion is sloooowwww and be prepared to read A LOT.....but the final few acts and the patches make up for it. Heavensward is really good and picks up and now im in the next expansion. be patient with the game, im telling you again as a newer sprout....it's slow and tedious but its also really fun once you get the jest of it.
This, me and 4 other friends decided to play ffxiv in November. Getting through ARR took a good bit but man did it burn us all out. Took about 2 months before me and one of the friends in the group decided to play again, but the other 3 haven't touched it since. Will say tho it gets much more interesting and less tedious once you finish ARR and it's patch quests
Legit me. I'm at lvl 19 but have played it like 3 times in the last year and half. Story line to me is so dry and doesn't really make any sense so far. I feel like I'm just doing fetch quest or no of it really pieces together.

The first expansion which is Heavensward won multiple awards for story alone, content gets more interesting and fun and the game as a whole becomes significantly more enjoyable in the expansions.
Adding to this a bit late, but DO NOT BE AFRAID TO SKIP CUTSCENES!! By all means if you enjoy them watch all the cutscenes, but if you’re getting bored with ARR don’t be afraid to skip them. Several of the main/recurring characters don’t even show up until half way through, and there’s over 100 quests you have to grind through. I’d venture to say the majority of new players quit before ever even finishing ARR because it definitely can be a slodge. Also, if you ever feel like you missed out or decide you want to rewatch some cutscenes, every inn room has a book called “The Unending Journey” that you can use to rewatch cutscenes. My personal advice/tip for new players (just my suggestion, everyone is different) just play the free trial. Get into the game a little bit, learn the basics. If you are really enjoying the game, and decide to buy the full version, you can also buy a story skip, that will skip all of ARR. I’d also recommend a level skip in tandem with this, or you’re going to be stuck with an underleveled character. The story skip will put you into the Heavensward expansion, which starts at level 50, unlocking a lot more content. I promise you aren’t going to miss out. And you can still NG+ ARR missions if there’s specific quests you want to play. You can also always go back and play through the dungeons.

Started watching the video coz I like Azu content. But holy shit it was actually very useful as a 5 months old sprout. No future content spoiler, no random EW or SHB trailer clips, just straight up information. This is actually gonna be an incredible useful video for tons of newbies who actually wanna know combat oriented information.
Somthing I feel like is important as having recently leveled an alt: 5:38 there is only ONE place in the msq where just the xp you get from msq rewards is not enough and that is at the end of ARR around lvl 47-50. This will NOT happen at all in later expansions as long as you're only accepting the xp rewards on one job so once you're over that hurdle there is no need to worry about it further.
I love how flushed out the professions feel having whole quest lines and everything and the quest are actually pretty good. I really like the armor and alchemist weaver’s was pretty good too.
Awesome! I have some good friends who play XIV, and I've always wanted to jump in, so when the XVI event started, I just ran through the entirety of ARR in a week, and this clarified most of my confusions!

I'm nearing three weeks playing on free trial, i used to have an older profile but i gave up a year or two ago (stopped at around lv 25 msq) I picked it up again and so far I've already finished lv 50 msq, and planning to level up all jobs before i get to buy the game! Also, glad to know that pvp isn't just typical pvp but includes other game modes as well, which makes me happy because my laptop is getting old and can't get to play newer games.
"the MSQ will level barrier you" unless you play on Dynamis, then you have to level 2 jobs simultaneously else you'll end up with a level 90 in Stormblood, sometimes even HW, just from the MSQ EXP mind you
@@richiepipes8960quite different compared to wow. I was a rogue and demon hunter main. So I was used to either long combos or rng procs for rotation. Most ff14 dps rotations are static and have 2 different burst windows. Every 2 min you press a lot of buttons fairly quickly for like 10-20sec. Then chill until the 1 min mark where you have a smaller burst rotation, 10 sec or so. Then chill until all cooldowns are back from the beginning. On top of that each class has its own gimmick on how their basic rotations play out. Tanks generally have a simple 1-2-3 combo, dps usually have 2 combos they rotate between. And idk about healers
I just enjoy watching your videos 👍 and as much as I love this game; and for as long as I’ve played it, I still suck and need all the advice I can get.
My issue with the story is whenever it slows down between major expansions and you feel like you're grinding out quests to get back to having a game to play. Thankfully the gameplay is good enough that I can put up with that, and the story really does get excellent.
I'm just here to cheer new sprouts on. Go forth! Adventure awaits! Edit: I forgot that getting SB on free trial would mean getting Red Mage and Samurai for free at 50! When I was on free trial back in SHB, the ARR patch MSQ dragged on for so long mainly because I wanted to get some new jobs, and the HW jobs were all locked in Ishgard.

Wish I'd empathized this more but the hotbars I show are level 90 hotbars and yours will look different! You won't have nearly as many and you can learn as you go 😊
I’m on controller as well, look up guides to set up your hotbar, I have like 6 different hot bars of 8 abilities to use that I switch between with r2 and l2 inputs
FFXI PlayOnline music in the background threw me so bad lol. my mouse just hovered over the thumbnail and i heard that and had to do like a 720 to figure out where it was coming from.
I'm a new player and a WoW veteran who have recently picked up FF14. There are many thing I love and hate as a new player, but my main concern is the lack of any built-in performance metrics in the game. I get that there may be a reason to hate addons, and maybe even a reson to not include your stats in the game (which I completely disagree with since it's a multiplayer game). But how the hell do I know if I play my class right, if I suck or am I okay, should I improve and in what areas if there is no dungeon run results, no damage meters, no nothing? It may eventually become a dealbreaker for me. Unless there is a way to circumvent that? A genuine question here
New player here - Wtf is he talking about at 16:45 when he said “you know you can cleanse with Esuna because it has a white line through it.” What does he mean by “IT” has a white line through it? I’ve been looking for something with a white line through it and haven’t seen shit.
In the party list next to the players name there will be a debuff with a white line above it and that means healers can cleanse it away with esuna, I hope that helps :)
Also, for DDs as soon as you can, take some Spine Drops, Echo Drops, and Antidote. They are crafted easily with Alchemy. Sometimes things get wild and it sucks to wait for GCD to heal again. I have Spine Drops and Antidote on shared hotbar for all jobs. Echo Drops for mages. 👍
I really want to go back to FFXIV. I capped everything at lv 50 before the HW Exp, and I stopped playing a week after HW was released so I'm completely lost in where to start. I don't even remember how to use each job anymore. Still, great videos.
Right after my overseas trip ill get back into this... i just hate getting into a game and then stopping it 😵 im just finishing up dd2 because thats all i was limited at the time to play but yeah i want to commit to this game sooner or later because i did enjoy it when i tried it out for 2 months. Even if you play it casually it was very enjoyable once you finished games with no online play, you can juggle playing an AAA game and this one, its possible with time management 😂 but it may take a while to complete certain quests depending on your goals for this game, its not impossible but i found you need to like the script and dialogue which i found entertaining. I found games mmo with no online play are fun but once you finish playing it your going to end up waiting for a new fable game or something. This game does have good rpg and story element for long term playing. Maybe I'm talking out of my ass but better then not playing at all 😅
One point I'm going to add is the whole "Skips side quests for levelling alt classes" Don't. For one, these are pretty bad at levelling as they take too much time for the exp rewarded and two, ARR is made with side quests in mind. These flesh things out more. Doing only MSQ will drain you out real fast. This has been spread around for years mostly due to the broken exp curves (It's basically non-existent in ARR, you get so much exp you wont care about it anymore). There is absolutely no reason to rush, it's not a race.
You'll find the Sprint action in your Actions and Traits window from the main menu, under General - it is a dark grey background, with a golden-yellow figure of a person running. It should be the first ability on that page.
He says there are currently 19 jobs before the new expansion comes out but that is wrong. There are currently 20 jobs. We have 4 tanks, 4 healers, 4 magical dps, 3 ranged physical dps, and 5 melee physical dps. That is 20 combat jobs. He was ignoring the poor blue mage since they can't group up with other jobs.
@@synth_pulse3098 It's a class to challenge yourself. You start with one skill and have to get all of your other skills from killing stuff and stealing their skills.
Thinking about trying this game again. Hates Heavensward which most people loved so when I got to stormblood and felt it dragging still I left. Plus I was a button masher not knowing how to play still in the 3rd expansion 😂
I’m like level 50 don’t know whether I’m in heavenward yet I’m just doing main quests haven’t touched another job yet literally one job gladiator at the moment doing these quests
You can do dungeons and some boss fights solo but unless your over leveled it's gonna be pain so if a dungeon is level 50 you wanna be at least level 65 to 70 so the mobs don't destroy you it's the same with some bosses if there on that's level say 70 you wanna at least be level 90 just so you get a damage boost makes some fight solo easy but some remains hard regardless cause of some mechanics that need multiple people to stack or block a certain attack so the rest of the party can attack and reflect it or wale on the boss
New player here, does msq still give you so if your over leveled? I’m not even on level 18 msq and have three jobs to 30 just doing it, the so buff seems a bit much XD
As far as I can tell, alts are for people who want to experience the story again as a different character for roleplay purposes or playing on different data centers. Not strictly needed at all! If by “Super High Priority” dailies you mean the ones that give you the most experience, Main Scenario Quest and Alliance give the most but also take the longest. they can take from 30-50 minutes depending on how many cutscenes there are or if parties wipe. The other dailies generally take about 15 minutes each, with trials being the shortest (usually) and some dungeons taking longer. That being said, dailies are absolutely not necessary to enjoying the game or even leveling your main job. If you don’t feel like doing them you’re by no means required to. Hope this answers your questions!
I think it's important to say that... the lessons in the hall of the novice are bad and teach habits that are bad as soon as you enter the first dungeon. Actively teaching tanks to single target to hold enmity is just... so frustrating when ranged have AOE even in sastasha and teaching DPS to go run off alone to handle ads just seems really wrong...
I haven't done all the lessons because I don't need them... I was always told their good but if what you're saying is the case then that's a bit odd that their such a way
@@AzuriteTVThat's fair. I mostly did them recently because I started an alt on another DC and needed the gear. That said, surprisingly, the guildhests have some pretty solid lessons in them, which is shocking given they seem just as old and neglected.

It is locked by main quest. Once you finish MSQ lvl 15 quest, you’ll unlock the airship that will allow you to quickly travel to the other 2 starting cities, as well as secondary travel options such as ferries that carry you from one region to another. Keep progressing the main story until you can travel to Ul’dah. You can unlock miner then.
@@AkihitoTysko In the upper left corner of ur HUD is a red banner called Main Scenario Quest (MSQ) with a red meteor looking symbol. That's like the game main campaign. Click on it and it will tell u where to go next and what to do to progress the game. Below that banner is an exclamation with smaller text, that's ur job quest. In general, u should do ur job quests asap to get new job/class skills and passives, then progress the MSQ to unlock features, areas, dungeons, stories, etc. Each quest has an associated level. Completing lvl 15 MSQ will unlock airship, and lvl 20 MSQ will unlock the mount quest. Following the MSQ will give u enough exp to level up ur first job comfortably, so u don't have to worry about having to do side stuff just to gain levels. Do side stuff only if u want to.
@@AkihitoTyskoMSQ stands for main story quest! On pc it’s on the top left so I’m going to assume it’s also there on console. On the top left of your screen it tells you what your next or current main story quest is, and if you haven’t started it, you can click it and it’ll tell you where you need to go to get it.
Thus is the second time I've seen a video saying something along the lines of "don't remove sprint from your hotbar." Is this a common problem? Why are people removing a completely free movement speed increase? 🤣

Dude I stopped watching when u said u need endwalker for male viera when u it not true u need to do ur research, male viers is the same as female Viera u don't need endwalker, u just need SHB expansion and I think it the same with female Hrothgar, just because these two genders came out with those expansion doesn't mean u need those expansion for them cuz they are not an entire new race they just gender swap of an existing race, my friend didn't have endwalker and he can play as male viera

You can use tools to help yourself improve, just don't mention it in game and you'll be good

I played up to 50 back in 2.0 some... 10 years ago. Getting back on now with the free trial. I like playing all by myself with the NPCs.

Thinking about trying this game again. Hates Heavensward which most people loved so when I got to stormblood and felt it dragging still I left. Plus I was a button masher not knowing how to play still in the 3rd expansion 😂
I’m like level 50 don’t know whether I’m in heavenward yet I’m just doing main quests haven’t touched another job yet literally one job gladiator at the moment doing these quests

Im intentianally skypping non main quest cuz im alweys 10 lever higer then my current main quest level, for a bit i was 20 lever higer

I have a question for the players here. Can you do this solo or do you have to join people?
You can do dungeons and some boss fights solo but unless your over leveled it's gonna be pain so if a dungeon is level 50 you wanna be at least level 65 to 70 so the mobs don't destroy you it's the same with some bosses if there on that's level say 70 you wanna at least be level 90 just so you get a damage boost makes some fight solo easy but some remains hard regardless cause of some mechanics that need multiple people to stack or block a certain attack so the rest of the party can attack and reflect it or wale on the boss
The main story is soloable only for the most part. Gotta join people for some dungeons/trials/raids that don't have NPC support option.
New player here, does msq still give you so if your over leveled? I’m not even on level 18 msq and have three jobs to 30 just doing it, the so buff seems a bit much XD

i heard about alts, why alts are needed? how and long does the super priority dailies can be finished. tia
As far as I can tell, alts are for people who want to experience the story again as a different character for roleplay purposes or playing on different data centers. Not strictly needed at all!
If by “Super High Priority” dailies you mean the ones that give you the most experience, Main Scenario Quest and Alliance give the most but also take the longest. they can take from 30-50 minutes depending on how many cutscenes there are or if parties wipe.
The other dailies generally take about 15 minutes each, with trials being the shortest (usually) and some dungeons taking longer.
That being said, dailies are absolutely not necessary to enjoying the game or even leveling your main job. If you don’t feel like doing them you’re by no means required to.

I think it's important to say that... the lessons in the hall of the novice are bad and teach habits that are bad as soon as you enter the first dungeon. Actively teaching tanks to single target to hold enmity is just... so frustrating when ranged have AOE even in sastasha and teaching DPS to go run off alone to handle ads just seems really wrong...
I haven't done all the lessons because I don't need them... I was always told their good but if what you're saying is the case then that's a bit odd that their such a way
@@AzuriteTVThat's fair. I mostly did them recently because I started an alt on another DC and needed the gear. That said, surprisingly, the guildhests have some pretty solid lessons in them, which is shocking given they seem just as old and neglected.

It is locked by main quest. Once you finish MSQ lvl 15 quest, you’ll unlock the airship that will allow you to quickly travel to the other 2 starting cities, as well as secondary travel options such as ferries that carry you from one region to another. Keep progressing the main story until you can travel to Ul’dah. You can unlock miner then.

@@AkihitoTysko In the upper left corner of ur HUD is a red banner called Main Scenario Quest (MSQ) with a red meteor looking symbol. That's like the game main campaign. Click on it and it will tell u where to go next and what to do to progress the game. Below that banner is an exclamation with smaller text, that's ur job quest. In general, u should do ur job quests asap to get new job/class skills and passives, then progress the MSQ to unlock features, areas, dungeons, stories, etc. Each quest has an associated level. Completing lvl 15 MSQ will unlock airship, and lvl 20 MSQ will unlock the mount quest. Following the MSQ will give u enough exp to level up ur first job comfortably, so u don't have to worry about having to do side stuff just to gain levels. Do side stuff only if u want to.
@@AkihitoTyskoMSQ stands for main story quest! On pc it’s on the top left so I’m going to assume it’s also there on console. On the top left of your screen it tells you what your next or current main story quest is, and if you haven’t started it, you can click it and it’ll tell you where you need to go to get it.

Dude I stopped watching when u said u need endwalker for male viera when u it not true u need to do ur research, male viers is the same as female Viera u don't need endwalker, u just need SHB expansion and I think it the same with female Hrothgar, just because these two genders came out with those expansion doesn't mean u need those expansion for them cuz they are not an entire new race they just gender swap of an existing race, my friend didn't have endwalker and he can play as male viera
