Howdy We were on the transatlantic sailing on the Regal Princess. A couple of days before we boarded in Southampton the ship had an engine fire. Then we had a rerouted to Ireland due to bad weather in and around our ports in Spain. We faced gale force winds for several days before reaching our final port before the crossing the Atlantic. While crossing the Atlantic we had a medical emergency one cabin down from me. Of course there were lots of rumors about what happened but I can confirm that there were several officers in and out of that cabin and I saw our room steward cleaning that room like I never seen a cabin before. Walls were being washed and items in the cabin were really cleaned. This all happened after we crossed the Atlantic. At our first port after the crossing we had to wait for the medical personnel to load a passenger into an ambulance from the medical center. As we were leaving our last port of call we lost power. It was around 5:00pm. Some were in the shower and lost water pressure and lights Some were in the elevators going to dinner. People were in the inside cabin in the dark. I was on my balcony waiting to watch sail away. We left Grand Cayman hour and a half late. Later that evening the Captain came on the loudspeaker stating that the next cruise was canceled. About 100 passengers on our cruise were affected. He said the there is maintenance issues that need to be fixed. Also a deep cleaning was going to take place this week which is a good thing because bronchitis was going around the ship since they were cruising around the British Islands. Anywhere you went around the ship you could hear someone coughing up a lung🤢 Even with all the issues it still was a fantastic cruise with the most amazing crew!
Right. Many people who are not retired cannot reschedule their vacation time easily. Plus, they would have incurred all kinds of expenses preparing for the trip.
25% FCC for such a short notice cancellation is absolutely unacceptable. We love Princess, but more and more they are nickel and diming people and this is a perfect example. Of course they are going to give a full refund because they are not sailing, but only offering 25% as a compensation for so many plans needing to be cancelled is poor.
I hope you love the Celebrity Ascent as it’s our favourite ship on the fleet! We were on her earlier this year and had a blast! Thank you for always keeping us up to date on cruise news. I really enjoy your channel! 🙏🏼💕😊
I saw the Regal Princess today and it is still docked at the Galveston pier. Enjoyed the British Isles and the Trans-Atlantic cruise despite the problems.
We are scheduled on Regal for November 3rd! Fingers crossed 🤞 she’s fixed & ready to go. We are flying into Houston on Friday and staying for two nights in Galveston before the cruise.
Carnival Pride out of Baltimore was our first cruise. We LOVED it and cruising has become our vacation of choice. The Spirit class are the best ships Carnival has.
I will be going on the crown Princess from January 11th through February 8th of 2025. We will visit New Zeeland, Tasmania, and Queensland. We are so excited it will be a trip of a lifetime. Thank you for all your information I enjoy listening to you. Marie 😀
Comments: 1) MSC to Alaska? No. We were on Costa in Alaska years ago and warm weather ships do not offer the same experience as smaller ships intended for Alaska. 2) After spending September in Alaska and Hawaii, I found a OW fare from HNL - LHR for only $325 pp. For a couple hours, we talked about flying to London and cruising back to Galveston as the repo fare was dirt cheap. Now I am glad we did not.
Was on the Regal with you of course in June. Also on my way to Sydney now. I wonder if the Westerdam will get a big welcome too. The Westerdam will spend the season between New Zealand & Australia. But there is only one 360 cruise of Australia & I’m on it😎👋
We were scheduled for that cruise. Notified just before our flight to Houston. It's Tuesday night right now, no other word from Princess. Can't they send another email stating again they are sorry and they are working on the refunds and to be patient. We've heard nothing since Friday's cancellation. Very disappointed in the communication.
Currently booked on Princess in June 2026 for 14 days. Very pricey for a balcony. Would consider MSC in the Yacht Club (ship within a ship) for Alaska instead.
Remember everybody that labadee Haiti is Royal Caribbean's Private Island so therefore you're not going to actually go to Haiti itself for unique things
Have you recently sailed on Regal Princess or were you personally affected by the recent cruise cancellation?
I was on it September 10 for 12 day Celtic cruise and February 17 for western Caribbean.

I think 25% is terrible compensation for cancelling that close!😒

Agree, 25% is terrible.

I'm getting ready to go to the Panama Canal on the Emerald Princess in November

I was supposed to be on the Regal Princess. Understand why the cruise had to be cancelled, but a 25% FCC is pathetic under those circumstances.
LOVE Alaska ~ have been twice (HAL); going a third time 2026, booked on Star Princess.

Boarding the Crown Princess in Sydney in Feb 2025 for a two week New Zealand cruise-Sydney to Sydney.

with the situation in Alaska and so many ships frankly I am not sure they need more ships.

I believe MSC has children sale free promotions. Good for people on a budget!
