    Greetings Jon Jandai from Hubert, North Carolina!...I want to thank you for your work and knowledge and just plain (not so) common sense. I work in maintenance and have a koi pond and I'm going to build a modified filter system using your techniques. Your easy methods inspire me in all ways sir.
    Keep up the good work you are in!

    Great system, thanks. You could use a final, end use filter, in a much smaller stainless steel container to get rid of any plastic chemicals for drinking water and cooking water. Also you can structure the water at this stage to make it more healthy to drink.

    Thank you and greetings from Finland. My well water contain a lot of iron. Maybe this system is possible to filter the iron away. Another problem is cold climate. This system must be buried under the ground in the cellar because in winter the barrels will freeze to ice. Life is testing and learning, and eventually teaching, when you first learn something. Thank you.

    Hey Jon. It’s good to test the waters. You mentioned your village drinks this for 14 years already and it’s great that it is fine to drink. How ever, I would make sure to have it checked every 4 year. That’s a great thing to do to maintain the safety of the people drinking it. Because you don’t want to risk one day people get sick and then you go to get it tested. It’s all about prevention and safety first. 👍

      I've been watching your videos for a long time I think is wonderful that you take the time to share your knowledge and experiences with those of us who admire and appreciate your work. I would like to add to your considerations fir system improvements if your system could you use a pre-filter solar heating system where the water goes through a covered solar heating tray then goes into the filtration system then pass through an ultra violet system to eliminate every posible pathogen left in the water.

    Your system is something I am planning to use here with four 55 gal. barrels. Thank you for the explanation and answers to the questions. I have ponds .. but I plan to collect water from the roof here. We have composite shingles .. but are planning to put on a new metal roof. I already have a frame that is 5 x 10 ft. and about 5 ft. off the ground. Should work very well. I have watched many of your videos .. very good wisdom for all times! Keep speaking your words .. others are listening too! :-)

    • @MerwinARTist
      @MerwinARTist 4 года назад +1

      @@stebarg .. Tesla is producing some great stuff .. but also at a great price! I picked up a pump today .. about $13 US including shipping. It has a 7 M/23 ft. lift ability and a used solar panel to operate it ..$50 US My purpose is to pump water from a small pond to holding tanks for irrigation of a garden. If this works well I'm getting another one or two. We'll see. I wouldn't need a battery and controller .. since I won't need it at night .. or during the winter. By the way .. I use a 55 gal. plastic barrel with holes in the bottom to filter out debris .. and a large tractor inner-tube that inflates tight around the middle .. leaving another foot at the top. Then I put this into the pond .. with the pump inside and this way I can keep debris out of the pump and the barrel is riding the surface level of the pond. It works really well. :-)

      Merwin ARTist Thanks for sharing ❣️😃🙏🏽
      Sounds good. I had a look on that pump. It has a flow rate of 350-900 l/s. Have you considered that?
      In practice you‘ll see the real flow rate. If there’s not much hight difference in your setup, it’s more on the higher side. It should pump between 1..3..5..10 cubic meters per day, depending on your location and height difference.
      Would be great to see your system in action.
      Unfortunately I’m stuck in Berlin in a not so nice flat in the city center. I’d like to have a nice piece of land in a good location and work on such things too but lack the resources at the moment. Any idea how to get there without much money? 😃

    • @MerwinARTist
      @MerwinARTist 4 года назад

      @@stebarg .. it's not Liters per second .. it's Liters per hour.
      350 - 900 L/H = 92 - 237 Gal/H
      If I have only 6 hrs of sun .. that means 552 Gal - 1,422 Gal.
      I'm only filling two 55 gallon barrels .. and they are only about 8 ft or so above the water level. Considering the fact that I am using a generator burning gasoline .. while running a small electric pool pump .. the solar setup will pay for itself in a hurry. If it works well .. I'll order one or two more!
      If you are not able to buy land .. you can use someone else's .. that is what this guy Jon explains in his videos .. you should watch all of them. Learn about what he has to say!
      Just watched this one today and shared it with many friends.
      I have a lot of respect for the educators in our school systems .. as they are underpaid for the work they have done .. basically baby-sitting a bunch of sometimes misbehaving kids .. and mostly not family. However, there is wisdom in hearing another perspective about our traditional education models. Though I have lived in the city for brief periods of my life .. I've always been a Country Boy .. and so I share this link with you in hopes that the logic and common sense here will inspire you to make life easy!

      We compost them for long time then we use with the tree. Micro organism can clean many kind of chemicals. They have very short life so when contact with chemical directly they will die but some of them contact not enough to kill them then will evolve to be able to live with those chemical and clean them out. Now people develop many kinds of bacteria to clean chemical. Some of them we dry and use for fuel.

    Do you use any shell fish such as clam, oyster, muscle in your pond to help clean the water?

    Great video Jon! I'm in city water in the US. I'm thinking on filtering my city water, think it would filter fluoride doing it this way?

      Jesse - fluoride in water may not be removed by this filter. It require special kind of chemicals to get rid of excess fluoride. The florode problem is very much a problem in many states of India where people depends only on tube well water for drinking.. But as per my understanding surface water contains very little fluorides , but water from tube will having drawn from deep layers of earth contains fluoride

      That same question is what led me to this nice man's videos. I read "bone char" filters reduce fluoride and I was hoping the high-temp charcoal like he used in this video would work as well.
      Wouldn't it be great if our municipalities would stop poisoning us with water fluoridation (at our expense!)?
