@Andres Beltran. Yes I agree and although the selfish corporations continuously cut down forests we can combat this by thoroughly studying permaculture so we grow our own forests wherever needed. Specifically planting and growing "Food Forests". Nature always provides us the means to counteract the bad that these greedy inconsiderate corporations do.

I am currently working in a corporate office in the Philippines and I am saving now to buy a block of land to start farming. I want to hire the unemployed men and woman in our community in the province so that they will have source of income while having time with their family. They will work in the farm to make food for their children. I want to create a community that has a sense of well being and compassion with each other. I hope that I'll be able to learn the agri industry to be able to help our community.

Totally agree with you. I started investing in regenerative assets like buying depleted land to plant bamboo and grass and build up earthworms in my land. Since 1999, people thought I went bonkers. So I kept on investing and today these regenerative resources has brought back biodiversity to our land and our community. Today, this simplicity in partnering with nature has allowed us to live around natural blessings, clean air, renewable water, soil fertility producing our nutrients for ourselves and community.

It would only makes sense. Especially in the case of Aluminum. It would have to be far cheaper to reuse existing refuge, than to locate, dig/mine, haul, and refine the raw ore, versus simply melting it down and reforming it.
I also watch a video recently were in Columbia they are melting down plastic bottles and reforming them into interlocking blocks in which they were able to construct very nice looks homes with virtually no tools. You are right we need to retrain our brains and think outside the box.😁😁

I guess I disagree that the capitalist system is broke, indeed I think it has a much longer time to go. Many of the products and services sold today exist in the digital world and thus do not consume natural resources in their creation, at least not in a large amount.
I do think we could all learn to be content with less and focus more on our families and community however, but that can be done whilst pursuing a financial profit. I speak from the perspective of the developed world, I have no idea what it looks like in a poorer country at the moment.

Jon's vision is beautiful and would certainly make our world healthier and people happier and more connected, but your idea is more practical and more realistic for the kind of world we live in today.
I think most of the world will continue on its capitalistic path with entrepreneurs coming up with all sorts of ways of using or re-using existing resources and creating new ones (e.g. the digital ones you mentioned). I also think more people will start choosing the simple life. but they'll still be a small minority. I hope I'm wrong about the second part. So much beauty and joy could come out of communities which choose a life style that is in harmony with nature. ❤

Depends on what is needed and where you live and how many people you have.
In general tropical areas need the least amount of space due to a permanent growing season and the natural ecosystem being able to fit tons of plants in small spaces. Also, flat land is more usable than hills or mountains. The shorter the growing season the more land you need. I don’t know how dry vs wet climates measure, I’d assume though that dry lands need more.
Also what are you trying to produce? Food for all year? Goats? Cows? Chickens? Fish? Medicines? Basic Building materials? This all factors into what you need.
I’d look up what homesteaders do in your area and related areas and plan your setup out from there, then start gathering the means for that.
