I had the chance to audition these extensively before ending buying some other headphones. The taste I was left with is that these look better than they sound.
For me it’s the best in my system especially in regards to detail in treble. Bricasti m3, Pathos inPol-ear The soundstage is interesting because it presents each song as it is. Sometimes wide and sometimes narrow and intimate. I still think the LCD4 beats it in regards to the bass quality but in the higher frequencies especially nonEQ the d8000pro has its number. Definitely shines on tube amps that’s for sure
I’d call the aesthetic “retro-futuristic” rather than steampunk, it’s Astro Boy’s headphone. 🚀 Just needs a thicker headband pad with a central cutout (like Sennheisers) for pointy heads like mine.
How does regular D8000 compare to D8000 Pro? Is it the same technicalities with different tuning and is Pro that much better to justify the price difference?
I have the Final Audio Sonorous X...which sounds pretty darn good with my tube DAP... but I continue to wonder how the D8000 would compare with those. I know the 16 ohm dynamic Sonorous would be easier to drive... and certainly are one of the best *looking* cans on the planet...but I wonder which one sounds better. Has anyone at H.S. tried those in the past? Love their products. About to pick up some form of the Piano Forte line (VII, IX or X) to complement because that's the only IEMs I can handle (no ear close-off!).
@@TheMightyMedia I find the Abyss PHI TC more comfortable than the Hifiman HE1000SE despite its higher weight. After a while the Hifiman pressed on my head, this problem does not exist with the Abyss because it has no contact pressure. The last PHI TC version has a thicker headband, which significantly improves wearing comfort. I made an unboxing video on my channel where you can also see the new headband.
Yes. The D8000 pro is much better in terms of detail retrieval. I do think the Empyrean has a more spacious soundstage. The FR of the D8000 pro is more agreeable though, so it will sound better out of the box

I have strongly considered these headphones but that weight I can't deal with it. I may consider the Susvara but I don't listen to classical and jazz that much. I'm a country, rock, folk/Americana, pop, and hip-hop guy.
Slight edge to LCD-4 and detail and slam, slight edge to D8K Pro on stage and imaging. Significant edge to D8K Pro on tonal balance without EQ. But all of this also depends on the LCD4 being compared.
@@TheHEADPHONEShow I heard Audeze shares the frequency response of their headphones if you give them serial number of the unit. So people who can EQ can do better with Audeze actually. Some people buying minidsp ears just for EQ. BTW it would be cool if you can review the latest LCD 2C and 2F together. Especially 2F tonality doesn't look that bad compared to LCD X. There is too much noise on the internet when it comes to Audeze with all the revisions. As a trusted reviewer your take on latest Audeze LCD would help clear things up. I also heard LCD 2/2C pretty consistent unlike X and 4 nowadays.
The graph they send you is from a KU100, which is not a headphone measurement system, it's a binaural microphone. So not exactly all that helpful. Rumor I hear is the Audezes have started graphing very poorly in the last few years due to a memory foam pad change
@@allansh828 i slightly agree with you, although at around 4k mark "at least" i'm not sure if it will get significantly better if you double your budget or so.

1:02 this is where we can already tell it's overpriced. A flagship headphone of this price, shouldn't need to be EQ'd at all. This is not a 1K HD800, this is over 4k!!!!!
Horrible freq. response. Most pleasant frequencies are sucked out, and most irritating frequencies are attenuated. I get a toothache just by looking at that graph...
How do u stack up to other flagship planars

I always thought this was dynamic like ADX5000 lol. So D8000 planar too hah. It looks like closed back ADX5000.
Buy these headphones than Audezee and Hifimans. Japan brands are more durable.
