I love that Geoff never tries to hide his inner Disney Princess LOL. Honestly, I was never a big fan of this song...but Voiceplay turned me around and made me a fan!
Deejay has collaberated quite a few times with VoicePlay. Butter, Man in the Mirror, You're My Best Friend, Bang, In My Room are the ones that come immediately to mind. He's the absolute riff master.
Regarding you collaborating, why not reach out to them? They seem to be really nice, down-to-earth people. Or interview them first to get to know them a bit. Elizabeth Zharoff, Peter Barber, and Tara Simon have all done interviews with Geoff and the first two have also done interviews with Layne. They seem to have a small pool of artists they generally work with but they've also brought in other people for one song. Anyway, if you reach out to them, you'd be in good company -- Chicago reached out to them and they performed a few songs with them live a few weeks ago.
Only Voiceplay could make me love this song. It came out when I was a kid, and grated on every nerve. Geoff's arrangement is amazing, the bridge that he wrote for it was wonderful.

I remember the Chipmunks singing this on the radio in the lead up to Christmas in 1958. Different lyrics in this version of course. The hula hoop and balsa wood planes with variable incidence wings that could be made to loop the loop had been fads in that summer. VP does a cool job of transforming this song into something new without losing the fun of the original. But the image of Geoff flying like Tinkerbell is one I would rather not dwell on. Deejay also made it as far as the knockouts on the last season of The Voice, so you could hear some of his solo work on their channel. The man can riff, and at least when he’s with VP he also just totally flirts with the camera-fun to watch.

I still have the original 1962 album of "Christmas With the Chipmunks". Year I was born. Have watched it on tv every time it was available. I love David and how insane they make him. LOL This is an excellent playful rendition of it. Thanks for the sweet reaction.
I grew up with this album/song and knew all the songs by heart. When my parents moved shortly before they passed away, I neglected to save it, I still kick myself for not taking it. Dave Saville was so good! This version is different but good too
I normally hate this song with a burning passion (too many years of retail with this on loop), but this version is excellent.
