    I view Ameridan as a case study of how a Bioware protagonist will be viewed 800 years after in universe. Ameridan is literally a Bioware protagonist with a 3 companion party with a tank, a rogue and 2 mages (assuming Telana was a mage) going on a quest given by Dracon, with Telana as a romantic interest, a group of misfits... Similar to the real world, history is written by the victors, so the consensus is that Ameridan was a human warrior, and various parties tried to make a profit out of it. The companion's personality and complexity faded into obscurity, and only a nameless legacy remained (the templar who used lyrium to fight demons). Successful solutions at the time to big problems were turned into abuse after that much time into the future like tranquility.

      There's another instance of this in DA2 no matter what character you're Cassandra thought you were an Atheist and/or Blood Mage Terrorist seeking to destroy the Chantry before she learns the true story from Varric. Then there's the fact after you become the Champion of Kirkwall and defeat the Arishok they create a statue of Hawke in the Docks...It's always made as an armored up Warrior with a one-handed flaming sword instead of being whatever you're like a Mage or Rogue or Two-Hander. This perspective of the populace distorting the myth/story of the heroes happens quicker than 800 years. At least with The Warden they just gave them a Griffon Statue instead of fucking it up!

    I believe Ameridan in some ways represents what Bioware believes the best version of your own Inquisitor should be. I believe Andrastrian and Elven religion is like Christianity and Judaism, it is because both factions are based on these two. The Elves are Jews, the Lost Tribes of Israel, and they want their lost kingdom back. The Human are European Christians, well having the Church and Templars. I honestly felt really bad for Ameridan. All that effort to keep your home united and safe from an ice dragon carrying a powerful spirit only to then have your friends and your lover die in battle and later your homeland destroyed? I'd feel like someone kicked in me the stones after someone broke the news to me after all those centuries passed by.
    On another note, I kind of wish we knew a little bit more of Ameridan's spirit companion as it's always pretty interesting when a character in the series has developed a relationship with a benevolent spirit. I'd also wonder what kind of spirit it was although I suspect it would be faith or wisdom.

      There's actually a good bit about the Old Inquisition we simply don't know about. Like for instance we read and were told they hunted down Mages and Heretics YET their leader was a Mage and Heretic and was entirely surprised when he was told Seekers no longer employ Mages as Seekers or Inquisitors or in any sort of Anti-Magic task-force. MEANING once Magi were the go to at stopping magical problems. Spirit Mages, Creationists, Knight-Enchanters/Arcane-Warriors, Dreamers WERE the Seekers and Templars of Yore before Lyrium and Spirit Abomination usage. Then there's the fact the Inquisition was founded during Andraste's reign over the armies they were HER legions meaning she personally employed a shit ton of Mages to fight the Mages of Tevinter. The Chantry is rooted in magic not divinity that's the truth of it I tell you.
      We NEED to learn the true story of Andraste her connections to Elves and Magic, Whether the theory if she was a Mage is right or wrong, The Inquisitions and Grey Wardens founding's how did they create the Joining and Rite of Tranquility, Titans do they have any connections outside the Sha-Brytol, Red Lyrium is it alive or not and if it's alive for real is it sentient, Ameridan was he the rule or exception as Mage-Seeker-Leader?

    I think Ameridan even believed that the Maker was ONE of elven gods.
    Maybe it is true if the old gods are actually bound with the elven gods.
    Andraste was born in the year when Dumat died. Some fans believe that Dumat is bound with Dirtamen. The Inquisitor had the tattoo dedicated to this god.

    • @flamesofchaos13
      @flamesofchaos13 5 лет назад

      The Sun is the Father of Elgar'nan the Patron-Father of the Other Gods and all Elven. The Sun is the symbol of the Chantry. You or some might think the two were related in someway? Think about a real world mythology for a second both Norse and Greeks and Romans all believing in a hierarchy of multiple Gods in groups/tiers. Titans, Olympians, Half/Demi-Gods in Greek and Roman. Norse has what eight different groups of divine beings for each realm. Ameridan's belief is radical in Thedas but on Real Life Earth he has an ancient pious man's beliefs on divinity being split among different gods working for and against each other.
      But of course the Chantry is based on the Catholic Church that discredits and attacks any opposing view then just one god. But to be fair the Elven "Gods" are in fact False Prophets with tyrannical and magical power so Ameridan was wrong about a great deal of things.

    • @maxiumg4542
      @maxiumg4542 5 лет назад

      The Sun is the Father of Elgar'nan the Patron-Father of the Other Gods. The Sun is the symbol of the Chantry. Actually I think it is not related. The first question I would like to ask is where did the Sun really come from in the symbol of the Chantry? At the time of the conquests of Andraste, this symbol was not mentioned anywhere. The Prophetess led the troops under the symbol of the Lady of the Sky. This is the old religion of the pagans Alamarri.
      Do you think that this is possible if her was led by a real Maker? Or maybe the Chantry invented the Maker and his symbol - the Sun later?
      And Ameridan knew it, maybe.
      Therefore, it may be that Ameridan was not at all mistaken that "the Maker" was in fact a pagan "god". Who knows? Only for some reason he believed that Andraste is associated with the elf pantheon, and not with the Alamarri pantheon.

    • @flamesofchaos13
      @flamesofchaos13 5 лет назад

      @@maxiumg4542 The Sun symbolism is no where in the Alamarri or Avvar myths/tales. But it's in the Dalish. So if the Chantry stole the symbol from anybody it would of been the Elves of the Dales.
      As for why Andraste used an Alamarri symbol is quite easy to understand and not really stealing..."Her mother was a Ciriane woman named Brona and her father, Elderath, was the chieftain of one of the largest Alamarri tribes in what is now northern Ferelden."
      She WAS Alamarri. She had every right to use their symbolism as she was one of them. Though I'm sure when she started preaching about a new god that's not only better then the others but the only true god she made quite a few enemies from her people and I'm sure most of them would consider her a traitor not a sister.
      Why would we consider the Avvar Gods and Evanuris "Pagan Gods"?
      Yeah I know the older societies and cultures are those that worship them but we know they're 1. Not "Gods" at all they're Elven Mage Warlords/Slavers and Spirits possessing powerful beasts or men. 2. The Dalish revived their religion and as we know in fact created it because it doesn't seem to exist like it did before and it gets literally everything wrong about the previous society at the same time the Chantry was created itself. Meaning it's not an older religion. 3. These Religions are not minor they're the third and forth largest faiths on their planet. Thousands of People in Thedas believe in them. The smallest is probably the Imperial Chantry given it's only practiced in Tevinter alone but it's not Pagan it's Orthodox.
      I don't think the Evanuris count as Pagan Gods because they literally don't fit either definition. As for the Avvar Gods they too don't fit.

    • @maxiumg4542
      @maxiumg4542 5 лет назад

      Andraste was Alamarri, so she had every right to use the symbols of "the gods" of her people. Absolutely yes.
      But, if the Maker directed her, why did she use the symbols of the former gods?
      The sign of the Lady of the Sky on the armor of Ameridan and the Inquisition.
      They are not the Sun, it is Visus.
      How so, if it is the emblem of a "false god"?
      This is very very very strange if the Chantry is telling the truth and the Maker was not ONE of these gods. Thus, I think HE was ONE of them, and Ameridan’s faith more accurately conveys what was actually happening.
      I just can not understand why Visus, if the symbol of the Sun, the title of the Creator/the Maker and the promise to the elves of their own land more closely resembles the actions of a "god" from the elven pantheon. In any case, it seems that before the creation of the Chantry there was no "Maker".
      These are my thoughts on this.

    • @flamesofchaos13
      @flamesofchaos13 5 лет назад

      @@maxiumg4542 "Known as "the Watchful Eye" in common parlance, this constellation had great significance to the ancient Alamarri and Cirianne peoples of southern Thedas. The story goes that the Lady of the Skies opened one eye so that the light from her gaze could lead her people safely from the Frostbacks. When Andraste's armies marched north from their ancestral lands to wage war upon Tevinter, they were guided by the Eye, and it became the Maker's gaze-not the Lady's- leading them to victory. The sword was added later; it is said that the star that marks the point of its blade only appeared in the night sky after Andraste's death. The early Inquisition took Visus as the symbol of their holy calling when they joined the Andrastian faith: the Eye representing both their search for maleficarum and the Maker's judgment upon their actions. When the Inquisition ended and became the Seekers of Truth and the Templar Order, the templars took the sword while the Seekers retained the eye."
      They changed the meaning the Followers of Andraste never believed in the Lady they just stole her symbol in mockery of what they believed to be a false god and used it against the Lady own believers and others of various faiths. The Original Inquisition put to the sword ANYONE who didn't believe in the Maker or even those that did but practiced differently. Do you think that means they are above dishonorable actions like taking another cultures symbol and using it to reap fear and chaos against them?
      As for there was No Maker in the rising of the Chantry maybe. Like I said we know Andraste would of used the symbol openly it probably represented her. She most likely came from a Clan whose Patron-God was The Lady of the Skies so anything Andraste did was considered to be under her guidance until Andraste rebelled.
      The Evanuris, Old Gods, Avvar Gods, the Maker CAN'T be all part of the same pantheon...There is NO patheon. The Maker is Absent=Nonexistent, The Evanuris are simply Elven Mages from Yore who were Warlords that stole magical power from the Titans and their own peoples, The Old Gods aren't really Gods they're just puppets of the Evanuris or Forgotten Ones, The Avvar Gods are just spirits that ancient cultures worship or revere because of the power they wield.
      These beings are also disconnected with time and methods. The Evanuris and Old Gods don't exist at the same time it took thousands of years until after the Evanuris were gone for the Old Gods to come to power. The Spirits are Spirits they're Spirits they do whatever the fuck they want outside the control of anything. The Old Gods mind control people into a Calling in order to free themselves from some prison. Which is way too similar to a Titan so if anything you could link the Old Gods and Titans magic and abilities.
      It just doesn't fit these beings use different ways to impress/enslave mortals. Some of them don't exist at the same point in history or throughout multiple cultures. It just doesn't make sense that they'd all existence in the same faction. What would be the intentions of said faction anyway?!
      Me talking about the Sun is in reference to the actual Chantry symbol not the Inquisition's. The Chantry has the Sun, The Original Inquisition has The Lady's symbol, The Seekers have the Eye, The Templars have the Sword (=The Tevinter Symbol for Execution if it's pointing downwards), The Circle of Magi have a yet to be known symbol.
      The Sun is a symbol of the Dalish, The Lady's Eye symbol is Avvar/Alamarri, The Templar Sword has Tevinter symbolism variations, The Seekers Eye was taken from the previously stolen symbol. The Chantry seem to have a theme going here of stolen religious idols they use against the very people who revere/worship them. Kind of scummy if you ask me.

      What reasons does he have NOT to believe in both? Seriously answer how one set had proven it's existence and the other didn't? He was raised to believe in nine different gods by default then he traveled and made friends with believers in a tenth god. Maybe the Chantry at it's founding wasn't so adamant that theirs was the only god and simply said theirs was the best or most powerful one? Perhaps he aligned himself with the belief/theory the Maker of the Chant IS the Sun of the Dalish Myth in other words the Father of Elgar'nan the head god of the Creators. Think about it what's the Chantry's Symbol? A Blazing Sun. What's the Chantry's belief about the Maker? He created the world as we know it...Well if the Sun didn't meet the Earth then Elgar'nan never would've been born nor would their battle/conflict create the world. That's my guess on his reasoning that essentially the Maker=Kronos while Elgar'nan=Zeus or the Maker=Odin while Elgar'nan=Thor etc.
      I'm just saying real life mythology has layers there's what two-three groups of Gods in Greek Myth alone. Then Norse Myths has at least eight separate divine groups.

      Ameridan's thoughts make it CLEAR and EVIDENT they had a fear/paranoia of Religious Humans forcing their faith on them by the sword. Which was only heightened by the fact that's exactly what they were doing to Other Religious Human Faiths and Non-religious Humans. They committed a complete genocide of a Pacifist Religious Faith of Humans because they refused to worship the Maker and Andraste in a way the church agreed with.
      After the Tevinter Empire's fall from grace once the Elves had a homeland again there's NOTHING Humanity could ever offer for Elves to trust Humans or their supposed God that let them be enslaved for hundreds of years and saw their nation fall while doing nothing. Humans and their Gods= Evil in Elven Eyes. Andraste was the exception not the rule. And once she and Shartan died then any chance of complete peace between Elven Faith and Human Faith evaporated. That's how it starts then they see Humans using their "One True God" as an excuse to massacre any opposing views against their faith.
      It started bad then got worse then you had a chance with Ameridan he gets frozen in time, then Elves become more distrustful after his loss without explanation then Humans get pissed when Elves refuse to help end a threat that could see all of Humanity and Thedas wiped out, then bandits and missionaries of the Chantry try to force conversion the Elves to Andrastianism, then Elven soldiers fight back against the threat of religious zealots seeking an end to their faith, then a misunderstanding occurs with the death of a young elven women by human bandits who's brother falls in love with a human women and is converting to the human faith ONLY for love because he's an complete Atheist, then is betrayed by his own fellow Elven soldiers considering him a traitor they kill the human women her fellow villagers attack and kill the Atheist Elf who they believed murdered her because the other Elves fled like cowards so they butchered him, then in an act of hypocritical regret and horror the Elven soldiers come back and massacre the ENTIRE village of Humans meaning women and children included, then finally the Emperor of Orlais calls war against the entire race of Elves and their kingdom and the Divine of the Chantry backs it up and declares it "Holy".
      That's how it happened Elves AND Humans were/are to blame entirely. Both races are cunts.

      @@flamesofchaos13But how much of that animosity was there at that point, i.e. before the ensuing Blight? You're right that they were enslaved by humans, and might also blame human faith. But as you said they favored Andraste, and Drakon I was the founder of the unified Chantry, and he was very pro-elf. The elves were also given their own sovereign land in the Dales. I'm not saying that their hatred for humans, albeit misplaced on Drakon's Orlais, was baseless, but there were strong reasons to favor cooperation at that point.
      The other factors you mentioned like Drakon II's exalted march, the Red Crossing incident, and major other conflicts happened after the Blight. I guess to me it's understandable if the elves at that point wanted nothing to do with humans, given reasons you pointed out, but why would they want Orlais to fall, when by then Orlais had been nothing but an ally to them?

      @@darylmcmexican539 At least some because Ameridan's memories directly tell us there's distrust towards Drakon's Empire. Ameridan is very clearly the outlier of his people.

      No, she just wanted to point out that a popular fan interpretation of "Banal Nadas" has seemingly been debunked.
