  • It was a great trip away this year to Loton Park somewhere we haven’t visited since 2022. I was really looking forward to going back to Loton and as always it didn’t disappoint with the team running a fantastic event even with the challenge of multiple red flags for small mishaps and deer. Whilst it was two quite long days the organising team and marshals did incredibly well, with the sizeable accident on Saturday and then the deluge of rain. The Sunday the whole team were stars dealing with another monster accident but worked swiftly to get the event back under way.
Going into the weekend I was looking forward to the Jedi gathering with 4 cars in the 1100cc class, unfortunately Lloyd Bettinson snapped a driveshaft in first practice and then sadly Gary Anthony Hull’s engine went bang. With the weather coming in Dad took the class win on Saturday as the rain started to fall with the rest of the class on the line. It was then a fight for second in class and with a generous loan of a set of new rear wets from Gary I went 6 seconds quicker than our 10 year old ones missing out on second by 0.1 of a second to end up third, happy with the result.
Sunday was a completely dry day but at times it did look like the heavens might open once again. First practice was a reasonable start and we weren’t far off the Saturday practice on a still drying track. After lunch though I decided I wanted to lean on the car a bit more and was rewarded with the class lead, great result and only 0.3 off of pb knowing that there was more in there. That lead was held to the end of the day and I ended up picking up the class win and 2nd overall. Really happy with that as the car performance was spot on.
Well done again to the organising team for such a great event see you again in 2025
