Haven't seen much of Mpetshi, but i love the smooth aesthetics of his game and his silky backhand. His serve is a thing of beauty. Not many highlights but looking for that to change very soon.
There is always room for a towering serving bot on the roster , on top of that he seems to move better than most players of his size . He will be trouble
TO ME: He obviously can serve like a beast, his forehand is good but has no backhand. Does anyone agree or thinks different? It's also exciting to see a new name around.
Here’s the problem though. He a guy that moves a lot but is also big, very prone to injury etc. Raonic, Delpo, opelka, Berretini. If he can stay fairly injury free during his career he could win grand slams, but my prediction is he is going to be injured alot
Ii don't know. He has a great serve and unlike other big servers the rest of the game is not that bad (and he is quite fast for such a tall player) but his rise was based in playing several mexican challengers (with little competence) and a very good atp tournament. He did a very good Wimbledon, but he was on the draw as lucky loser. His rise is not fast at all (he is the same age of Alcaraz and Rune) but a lot of people seem to think he is the next best thing. Frankly i think some time is needed to see if he is a younger Eubanks (someone with a big game that in a good day can defeat a top player) or if he has the regularity to become a top player.
I remain skeptical about big servers. They depend way too much on their serves to win matches. Look at Isner, Anderson, Phillipousis, Krygoius etc. They never win slams.
I saw him play in 2021 and trust me, it was not so seldom for him to serve over 230 km/h, ans it was 3 years ago, who knows how fast he improved in 3 years
A basketball forward type athlete playing tennis. That would be unstoppable. Look at the NBA fowards, They're tall and fast. The US would clobber everyone if NBA players choose tennis.
If i was that tall it wouldn't take me that long to break into the Top 100 or Top 200 too, what makes tennis what it is, Is are you able to hold your serve games and if you do can you clinch the match winn. He will stay in the Top 50 for a long time and All thee Best to him. All he has to do now is grab those Tennis French sponsors and even if he doesn't win a Grand slam thats enough to make money off the Sport
What's your ATP ranking now? Is it taking longer than you expected to break into the Top 100? We all could have use for better serves, that's true. A never-ending quest.
@@jackquinnes True😅 noticed this with Isner too his strong serve helped him clinch in the Top 100 for a longer time all he had to do was make Quarters or Semis to some tournaments and boom Sponsoship money might not be as easy as writing it here but when he started ageing it was his main tool, Good luck to him too, about my ATP ranking well Tennis is kind of a hard sport to go pro in East Africa so decided to focus on Software Engineering currently a FullStack Developer phasing into the US Remote Software Developer market via Turing been having lots of interviews guess its going well, Plan right now is to chase the bag(money) and make lots of money i think i will still play Pro tournaments just to relinquish what could have been but because am in my early 20's gotta aim towards life and make something off for myself, Dreams remain Dreams but atleast the ITF Tour allows you to pay like 100$ for an I-pin which is not so expensive and will just play tournaments for funn even if i loose as long as my Software engineering job has me set for life will just be living life atleast i tried😅 its just the World has been tough😆 But i wish everyone the best who wants to make it on Tour its really not easy and afew people wanna experience that Dream at the end of the day guess its what life is about, The Experiences the journey the stories🤩

Lack of consistency that's d problem a lotta good players but no competition. Not really. His serve is scary but the rest of his game is also quite good and he plays with the right tactics for his size. I think consistency and staying healthy will be his main challenges.
@@BauerZhylk but you said nothing in the last 2 months when he lost 11 of 13 matches ? Where were you then ? Plus he actually has dropped in the ranking since I commented, you clown 🤡

He just won Basel. I like your introduction of this guy. Class act, Tennis world is happy.
I really like this big dude. I hope he continues to improve.

His Servers are like a rocket. Future Star
Depends what a star is for you.
Not Future but ATP Tour star.
Here after the semi in basel
me too
Hey, he won Basel 🤪
He has a very good game and he looks like a very grounded kid.
Solid on all surfaces :D
& that serve is a get-out-of-jail-free-card

He now reached rank 31 as he win basel defeating shelton in basel finals .. his 2nd single title in 2024
Thanks for this video, great sum up of his career so far! :)
What a great talent
He's such a beast

but he is black, who knows
His serve is actually INSANE
Also in that first match, do you know who that Mejia person's full name is?
good vid! but at 3:33 that is not Matteo pictured lol, that's actually a picture of Antoine Bellier
Nice Video 👍
And the best bit ... he's got a single handed backhand!!!
Cool 😊 I’m first to arrive

2:35 "he can easily serve over '240' km/h" ? That sounds like a mistake, I know he has a 244 km/h serve but I doubt he can do that consistently
Its actually not rare for him to serve 235+ although easily 240 km/h is over the top.
I saw him play in 2021 and trust me, it was not so seldom for him to serve over 230 km/h, ans it was 3 years ago, who knows how fast he improved in 3 years
He has already served 240 and he only 21
Well his "second" serve is consistently around 220...
