Wow. Everything you said that lead you to start drawing your own patterns is happening to me. And I’m not skilled at drawing either but I am practicing. Thank you for your content.
I started my tooling hobby in March with the start of these lockdowns this year and between dons and your videos I’ve learned a lot and have been making small projects. My main setback is that custom drawing aspect. Love the videos man!
Been working on the drawing aspect lately, myself. Being able to fill any space with one-off artwork is priceless because of the pitfalls you mention at the beginning of the video. Using scrap leather for practice is a great idea, definitely going to implement that idea. Thanks!
Interested and n learning what tools you would use to tool the leather after you apply the design step by step to f you could please make a video on that aspect of leather crafting
Omgoodness you’re amazing. Just saw you for the first time making the croc straps. I’m so excited to leather about leather craft drawing! I make leather cuff decorated bracelets.
A few more things... 1. I really like how the cactus is your signature in these designs. Love the idea of making it your own. 2. In addition to the Bob Parks book, do you recommend any other books that would be good for the intro to drawing and carving? 3. What types of pencils and erasers do you typically like to use?
Been doing leatherwork for a while, but this floral/sheridan carving is new to me. I am enjoying the process of figuring it out even though I have a long ways to go.
I am new to leatherwork and struggling my way through it right now. LOL Drawing has always been tough for me and it was good to hear you were not a "drawing" artist, but your work is great, so there may be hope for me! Thanks for what you do!
I have been wanting to start tooling. I make wallets and belts primarily and I want to step up my game with tooling the leather. I have been a subscriber for a long while. I also have been subscribed to Don for quite awhile too. Not wild about his Monday morning videos but it’s understandable that he is very busy. At least it is something.
Started working on leather carving the hardest part so far is the drawing up to scale to fit in the space allowed. I'm watching this video in hopes it will help me with that. So far good advice. Thanks for helping the leather working community.
Brother my advice to you is to never stop doing this kinda stuff. Ever since i found your videos and gotten into leather crafting myself you have inspired me to do some amazing stuff. everything i make for members of our department they absolutely love. I have learned so many things by watching your videos. Just recently watched your Tipman boss video and im on the fence about dropping the amount of money on a stitcher......but that being said I cant stand hand stitching. Especially radio straps. Between you and Alexis Sofield im enjoying this new hobby.
Thank you for the support. It means a lot. Be sure to check out the cowboy outlaw sewing machine and the cowboy 3200. They are each around that price point and both are much higher quality of the tippmann. I hear ya on hand stitching. I just finished a briefcase hand stitched 😒

Ok. Disregard the questions. Found your 8B pencil recommendation and your 5 books video. Thanks again.
Love the videos, especially your fire shield ones. This was a great help in learning the "art" part of leatherwork for me. Stay safe Brother.

Good video. Another person who is helpful with this sort of thing is Joe Meling.
Very interested. Try time lapse on the drawing time and narrate?
I have done time lapse in the past. This is so folks can follow along if they wish.
My biggest struggle is vine work. I can’t seem to grasp the concept. What resources would you recommend to learn this?
Look up Bob Park, Don Gonzalez, and Dustin Loftis. They all have either books or material available. They really helped me
@@AttackLineLeather thanks. Dons stuff is great but didn’t have much instruction on line work. Does Bob and Dustin’s?
@@chandlersanders Bob Park has a book all about floral design and sheridan style. Dustin has videos on his website for sale. They helped me a ton
@@AttackLineLeather I’ll check it out. Thanks man!
