  • YOU CAN DONATE DIRECTLY HERE: uk.movember.com...
You can read more on my blog post about this film here: philipbloom.net... and why I decided to put myself and my family out there. If I was going to ask someone else to do that I should at least have the bravery to do it myself.
A deeply personal film about how Prostate Cancer has affected my family. Made to coincide with my Movember fundraising campaign to raise as much money as possible to help research and to raise awareness.
You can check out the fundraising campaign here where there are some incredible prizes to be won..cameras, tripods, sliders, lenses...crazy stuff. gopb.co/movembe...
This is a deeply emotional film and may be hard to watch if you uncomfortable watching this sort of stuff. But it is important. It's only through personal stories like this that you are reminded WHY you are donating!
Tech stuff: Shot on C300, two litepanel 1x1s and 1 Sanken Cos 11 straight into the camera. Miller Compas 20 tripod. Canon 17-55mm F2.8 IS

Excellent video Mr. Bloom. Sometimes we are so busy pointing the camera in different directions trying to create, or look for a great story, that we over look how many inspiring one's are right in front of us. Great work.

I'm signing up on the movember website to take part for next year. I've heard statistically that men have a higher chance of getting prostate cancer than women do breast cancer. Here in the USA, you never see companies raising ANY awareness with blue ribbons, prostate cancer awareness month PSA, etc.. Everyone does the pink ribbons though and they are everywhere during breast cancer awareness month.. The men are forgotten. Thank you for this video!

What a beautiful and moving video, thank you for sharing Philip. And yes. getting tested is not super comfortable but it only takes a few seconds, so there is no excuse to not do it.

It is important to know that in North America and in particular the USA , physicians will leave the Ultimate Decision to the Patient (in May 2012 a US Government Health Panel decided that" regular or planed"PSA Testing would no longer be recommended by them), That of course can cause a incredible amount of anxiety in a person affected by this desease.

One problem is the environment, we need to stop companies from polluting our dirt and water. We had a smelter here for years, it just got finished being dug out as a Super Fund site. Now there is a smelter in Canada and the small town on the US side of the border, more people in that town have cancer then any other towns in the USA, I don't think that's just a coincidence.

I started taking testosterone shots and my PSA numbers were small, under .80, until a year of the shots, then some reason it shot from .94 to 1.1. And the material I've read also have stated that most Prostate Cancer in the USA, there PSA numbers were very low. There are two types in the PSA test good and bad numbers, not just the total number. The doctors dont even tell you that, I had to find it on my own. They claim 2.5 or less is NORMAL for age 40 to 50 yet some dr's ask you to get biopsy

You see tons of testosterone shot therapy and how great it is, when in fact it raises your PSA. My PSA was "normal" under .80 and after taking shots for a little over a year, and in between they switched "machines" to do the tests, my levels went to 1.1. My doctor thought it was NORMAL and not to worry but reading the Internet it says age 40 to 50 my PSA should be below 2.5.
