you don't have to choose one substyle to be gyaru, many gyaru including myself constantly mix and switch between styles. you don't even have to choose a substyle since gyaru has adaptable which basically just means that the fashion follows the trends of the time. what's most important is your makeup and ur hair. once that's good then whatever u wear will still be gyaru. hope that helped
Gyaru is heavily based on African American culture so I like that o don’t have to completely switch my aesthetic to participate in this encase it already has a lot of my culture in it. Same with j fashion. It’s incredibly “street wear” friendly which is African American culture. It’s just like wearing my own stuff and adding on extras. I love it 🤣
Gyaru, one of the many fashion styles in Japan, created an empire of women empowerment and rebellion against traditional beauty standards- and here's how. Gyaru is a Japanese fashion subculture, derived from the English word 'Gal (derived from google) I don’t wanna bash your opinion but Gyaru subculture originated in Japan during the 90s to rebel against the national beauty standards of pale skin Etc. African American culture no doubt had a heavy and large impact and influence on the subculture but it did not originate from the culture, it originated in Japan during the 90s. Again don’t wanna start an argument but just states the facts I love Gyaru tho it’s so cute >^
Sorry to add onto this but some non b-gyaru subcultures were also inspired by destiny child, beyonce and other y2k celebrity fashion celebs such as Britney, Paris. Gyaru is a Japanese made subculture, but I would state that interest in foreign fashion is also a staple part of the gyaru culture. However one of the earliest trends in 1995 was based off a Japanese celebrity with dyed 'tea-shaded' hair and a tan. For example, ones such as Amuro Namie- a star who transcended norms with her dyed hair. Some gyaru i see also mix in crochet box braids into other subcultures too, like the Loalo Models who kinda incorporate many different subcultures in their looks, so it's not just the b-gyaru who incorporate looks inspired from black culture and celebrity fashion from 2000s.
@@PiecesOFtheStarsshe said heavy based not originated from. Whic is correct gyaru came about to challenge the societal norms and as you said took heavy inspiration from western black culture mainly black girl pop and rnb groups ^^
It’s so incredible to see the amount of care and effort you put into this challenge - watching your other videos highlights how dedicated you were and how much you did! I don’t know much about gyaru, but I felt like I learned a lot about how overarching the term is and how much creativity is within the community!
i think it's really cool that you focused on things that you already own and you emphasize this! when getting into new styles we often tend to buy more and overconsume. this is a really conscious way to engage in fashion and challenge ourselves. loved the vid overall: really well paced and i loved all your looks
@@TuberoseKisser i def get where you’re coming from & that’s not what i’m referring to necessarily :) from a sustainability perspective, even if we thrift, its always better to work on cutting down consumption overall simply because we’re using what we already have hope that makes sense !
Thank you very much for this. I like to research gyaru subcultures a lot, so seeing you in these amazing outfit sets is really cool!!! Gyaru is a way of life.
I LOVE THE EFFORT U PUT INTO UR VIDS!! The outfits u put on 4 each day are so cute it actually helped me find my style as a baby gal. Also ur really pretty btw!! 🫶🏾🫶🏾💕💕
I loved every one of these outfits. Especially the tsuyome, ora ora, and rokku styles. I was into gyaru once upon a time from early 2021 - mid 2022. I liked the time I wore it but I couldn't keep up with the high maintenance costs, the need to look professional, and I felt like every time I posted my codes, I felt like I was being ignored by the higher ups of the Gyaru social groups like on Discord and Facebook. I wish I could try it again, but I bet I'm still going to be ignored and not given any concrit because they think I'm ignoring they're advice when I'm trying to do my best.
I love how much effort you put in this video! I can tell it took super long to make! :0 The last co*de is my fav and really makes me think of old school ganguro gyaru. :) Keep up the great work!
Currently studying gal culture and I'm in love , developing my own creation of gyaru as well cause it can be anything you want it to be as long as we're having using the basics and make it your own
As someone who is also now looking into different styles to see what i like.... THIS VIDEO TRULY GAVE ME INSPIRATION✨💖 Also love your detailed and personal voice-over and conclusion which truly helped me to understand how it would translate to wear such styles IRL..... All of the coords look so cute!!! LOVE ALL OF THIS. Thank you for sharing✨
You look amazing in all of these looks! I can tell a lot of creativity when into them. My favorites were the little twin stars look and the pinterest one.
Bright pink looks really good on you, it makes your skin look full of life. So the amekaji look and the @sandytaboo makeup looks are my favourite for sure
This was so much fun to watch, seeing the different Gyaru styles was super interesting and inspiring to experiment with stuff myself. I think you did a good job, especially considering you were mostly using stuff you had on hand rather than just buying all new stuff. As a lover of hair clips and hair accesories myself I do think the hairclips would have been a good addition for the Decora style, though. And on a side note, where's the Kuromi tote bag from? I can't find that specific one.
Absolutely loved this video, it is so great how much thought you put into it💕you totally rocked every one of the substyles! You look so ethereal in Himekaji and also super comfy so I totally understand why it is your fave one^^ Now I want to properly try it out too😍 Also I didn´t know that there is also a specific gyaru style of dancing, that is so cool! Absolutely going to try that out as well💕
i know this is an older video, but I feel like alot of these you missed the mark on, such as excluding manba, banba and yamanba. i feel like you excluded the more 'extreme' styles that make gyaru 'gyaru', and I wish my substyle would be included more in gyaru videos.
Is it just me... or is this hyper sexualizing things children wear? Really weird and kinda gross if you ask me. Making stuffed animal backpacks and little girl bracelets and school uniforms "sexy" is pretty pedo

so many original japanese gal change their makeup and hair a lot too lmao
I wanna be a hime and tsu so bad but idk how to mix them righttt
It’s so lovely. Actually I’m Japanese. It is an Horner for me that “gyaru culture” was adopted you guys.
