    I love your drawing, Stephen!
I have yet to try a fude nib. I probably won't like the idea of changing angles as I draw.

That’s kind of the conflict for me as well. The convenience comes with discomfort. Certain angles of nibs are more uncomfortable than others. I feel like this type of nib also forces you to let go of being a perfectionist. Something I need but do not want!

Thank you for the review. I don't know what happened with the tin, it was fine when it went in the post🤷‍♂ Glad you liked the pen

It wasn’t really a big deal, I just thought I should mention it. I actually really like keeping the pen in the case. It served its purpose in getting the pen to me undamaged anyway.

More than I get get a chance to draw with them, in my desk job I use fountain pens for a lot of writing, note taking, and breaking down of tasks and schedules. It's a totally minor thing, but I've found if I'm using a fude, it's trivial to draw a box with a "drop shadow" effect around something important, or to put a very visible checkbox in front of a to-do item. For me, that line contrast does a great job of drawing my eye to the important bits when I review those notes after the fact.
It's probably too niche and specific to motivate anyone but me, but I do think my geometric-doodles-in-the-margins middle school self would approve.

I totally do that in my notes as well. Really satisfying. I think some of what you said really rings true in the journaling/stationary niche of the fountain pen world.

    1. I've become a big fan of fude nibs, which do so much and are uniformly cheap. I often use them to fill in areas, which look more even if using a saturated/non-transparent ink. I would LOVE it if someone would make a jumbo fude, by folding down more of the tip (if possible) or using a larger nib (#8).
    2. I could do anything I do with just two pens, an extra-fine and a fude.

I may have misunderstood what you’re looking for, you should look at the Duke Confucius fude pen. It has a longer tip so can lay down a wider ink line.

I’d love to see what else a Fude can do. Technically, I can do everything I want with an extra fine nib. Perhaps a Waverly. I just keep seeing new pretty things I want. I guess it’s really two hobbies. Drawing with the pens and collecting the pens.

If it's just a super wide nib you want, you could look at the pilot parallel pen

Thanks for this review. I was contemplating a stub or a fude for my next purchase. I was also looking at the Hongdian Black Forest as well.

If you’re buying to draw with, I like Fude nibs better than stub, just as a matter of opinion. HongDian also makes a nice one.

Stephen, thanks, I will try a fude nib then. Do you know if there is one available for the Muji pen? That is the one I tend to use most.

Thank you again for the EDM guitar playing robot. It showed up today a bit worse for wear for its travels but still lovely.

@@alexgray6082I don’t know of any variants of the Muji pen in any way. If there ever were, I would instantly buy them all.
A nice pen to start with Fude pens is the Sailor Fude de Mannen, but I would say the build quality isn’t quite there. It’s cheap though. This pen has a pretty decent build quality, but with the wider body, I don’t know how comfortable it would be for you if you’re looking for something like the Muji.
HongDian makes a Fude nib for their Black Forest, which I have and love. Definitely a heavier pen than the Muji but a similar form factor. If you already have a Black Forest, you can actually buy the nib unit separately.
