    My grandfather, Pa Kehoe’s recipe
    TOM & JERRY’S
    1 dozen eggs separated.
Whip the yolks until stiff (as stiff as they get)
Whip the whites until they are stiff and dry and then blend in 1 pound of powdered sugar.
Blend the two together stirring as little as necessary.
(Only stir as much as you have to, to incorporate the two. Pa said the less stirred the better.)
Put a ladle full of batter into a mug, add 1 shot of rye (bourbon) and 1 shot of brandy. ( I personally put half that much or your guests will be on the floor by the second mug. Pa cut his back for guests too. He made up a mixture of the two booze and put in one generous shot and I usually do the same. )
Fill the mug with hot water and a dash of nutmeg to taste. (I leave the nutmeg off mine.)
Serve with a spoon so they can stir the batter and booze together.
I’ve never calculated how many drinks I get from the batter but I have about 15-20 people to my annual party and I go through a batch and a half. (Yes, you can make it with 6 eggs and a half pound of sugar.)

Having never heard of "Tom and Jerry" before, I had to immediately find out how it was made since I happen to have (along with thousands of others, I'm sure) the recipe for George Washington's celebrated brew for Eggnog. It seems the apple falls closer to the tree than we imagine, sometimes. According to my source, while a North American tradition, the drink of Tom and Jerry actually hails from merry old England in the 1820's. Who'd a thunk it? Merry Christmas to all. Jack La Forge

Gifts were amazing - especially, ones from Saudi Arabia. Never knew dates had such variety. You can afford to be a most generous hostess this year - for houseguests and visitors alike. I think the Jello and cottage cheese recipe can be archived as historical anomalies, consigned to history and never to be repeated. Doubt whether the dog would eat it - apparently, no one else did.

All the gifts are so special and so generous. But the best part is always the friends and family to share the fun with. Stephanie, your aunt & uncle are just wonderful! And for those who don't have much in money or things...no one need to feel left out. Think about how being with your loved ones and dear friends and you can create your own memories of togetherness from even the simplest things or just each other's company. These are the best and sweetest memories that last forever.
p.s. if you know of anyone who may be alone during the holidays and can invite them to be with you and your friends or family, be sure to do that. The holidays can be some of the most difficult times for some, especially for those who are alone. ❤

I grew up smelling & eventually drinking Tom & Jerry’s in Buffalo, New York. It’s actually British in origin. The drink's name is a reference to Egan's book, Life in London, or The Day and Night Scenes of Jerry Hawthorn Esq. and his Elegant Friend Corinthian Tom (1821), and the subsequent stage play Tom and Jerry, or Life in London (also 1821). To publicize the book and the play, Egan introduced a variation of eggnog by adding 1⁄2 US fluid ounce (15 ml) of brandy, calling it a "Tom and Jerry". The additional fortification helped popularize the drink
A favorite of our 29th President Warren G Harding from Ohio.
T & J’s are a Christmas staple with several different bars putting their own twists on the liquor (gin) & condiments (cloves, Anisette)
Fun to share some of our traditions with all the La Landers!

I eat them with peanuts .... it tastes like a Payday candy bar. My favorite Halloween treat!

My favorite Christmas drink is warmed egg nog with added nutmeg then add a liquor called White Christmas. It is a mix of brandy and rum. Wonderful drink to warm you up .

I tried to get the White Christmas to send with the set, but the liquor stores didn't have them yet!

I'm American but have NEVER heard of Tom and Jerry except for the cartoon...is it a Southern tradition?

Not Southern, I've never heard of it either. It must be regional ... I've noticed someone from NY & WI stating it was tradition.

This is the first Cadeaux that I found super interesting. Love the Saudi treats and learning more about these special gifts.

What beautiful gifts of those dates. I have a 11 yr old grandson who would be in heaven with those dates. What a generous gift. I chuckled that Auntie said she was acting like your mum with the ribbons. I save them too.
ONG that coat is gorgeous. The flow of the fabric is amazing. Love the jacket too.
The Christmas cards are amazing. The kind you hold on to .
Phillip is right, candy corn. The jello mold is lovely. The animal gift wrap.
Happy Advent. Love the love and laughter and joy. ❤❤❤❤❤

I thought from the thumbnail that you started the Cadeau in the UK, but you flew back to Lalande after Paris. Your family can move so fast. Mine can't. LOL Our Southern Family Jello dish is crushed pineapple, carrots, and lemon jello. 😘😘😘

A Canadian here. We had green jello with grated raw cabbage and cucumber in the jello. I can almost taste the lime jello!!! Good memory
