Am I the only one thinks the twirl/spin pitchers do when they strike someone out is the stupidest thing. Like maybe in the clutch situation, but c'mon, it's almost every time.
Transferred my player from RTTS 17 and went from 99 overall to 41 overall. I get the game is trying to be more realistic but my favorite player is Ken Griffey Jr and there is no option that you can choose to have a player like him in this game cause that type of player doesn’t exist in today’s MLB
The reason why Nolan’s gloves are mint green is because he wanted to “stand out from the from the crowd”. Everyone else uses neon colors to get the flashy look. Nolan Asked Nike(his sponsor) what he should use and they suggested the mint green. This is his second year using the mint green gloves. He will switch it up when “too many people copy his style” all of this comes from “What Pros Wear” RUclips channel.
TJ The Champ From a technical point of view, animation wise, that’s extremely difficult to fix/improve (year to year) and will most likely be one of the last things to see an overhaul before moving closer to the goal of photorealism in gameplay, especially for sports based games. For reference, watch a video on how Naughty Dog was able to improve model animations for Uncharted 4 (especially clothing and hair), His face alone has more rendering than an entire MLB Show player (much less his chest hair fluttering in the wind, his clothing moving in the direction that the wind is blowing in accordance to where he’s standing, etc), that’s an insane amount of detail. Then come back and imagine how crazy difficult that would be to apply that to every player on the field (even the popular players that get more attention to detail (like Bryce Harper). It’s just not possible, technology wise, yet. That’s why linear, story-based games usually look better (graphically), less going on, less to render on the character models. You’re looking at another few years before a console system, of any type, can accomplish that (it certainly won’t be PS4 Pro).
They are stiff, idk why they can’t make the jerseys move like in 2k. Like in the wind they should blow and just move in response to every movement that’s taken
They screwed my astros on the 90s unis ..the navy blue and gold hopefully they add it ..and I would like to have seen jordan cleats but nonetheless love this game every year
Idk if the hitting is better or worse in 18. Its so weird. The pitch speed is a lot slower but still hard to make good contact. I actually think pitchers with a lot of break and less velocity are op now. Ive been shelling SPs with high velos but 74 kenta maeda Just shut me down. Its bs. The need to find a middle ground.
Only sports game on the market that has a significant upgrade every year. Each new game definitely justifies spending $60 (or more depending on which version you get) on it. This year’s game just feels special.
Devs leave game mode in and make no improvements to it = complain. Devs remove game mode to make massive improvements = complain. Either way people are going to complain.
Super Console Gamer I never played season mode, always Franchise so can’t complain. Franchise got upgraded big time. And like the dude said above, just turn the GM features off and you basically have season mode. Sure, if you played online that kinda sucks that you no longer can play with friends or randoms, but I prefer solo anyway.
Game play could be better, some things are quite annoying, pitching delivery is way slower and hitting well you can’t get to low pitches with the pci, graphically tho I would like the uniforms to be better, proper fitment.. more realistic, some gloves could use un upgrade as well
When I’m a free agent in RTTS receiving offers I wanna be able to see more than just the offering teams record from the previous season. Signing for 5+ years can I at least get more info on who I’m signing with?
Should also make some new victory moves. 3 guys butt-bumping in midair is very, very, VERY old. Also, let's see some mascot picking on the umpires/fans. Charging the mound (after frequent near misses/hits from pitcher) would be a plus as well. And also, let's see some baseball players giving baseballs/bats to young fans. Oh yeah, let's see some fan proposes to a woman in between innings!! LOL!
Very good presentation. I haven't gotten the Show 18 yet, but it's on my bucket list. I loved 17, but as with all sports games, you wonder if upgrading just for newer graphics is worth shelling out another 60 bucks. Think I might get 18 because the graphics look awesome compared to 17 and love that they fixed the resolution somewhat on the arena logos and uniforms. Just curious is the gameplay and announcing is exactly the same or has it changed. Vasgersian hasn't said anything new lately for a few games now.
The new stadium specific cameras really add to immersion..and i absolutely love the full speed replays, adds realism and pop and keeps the momentum and excitement going. Brilliant job. Small but meaningful tweaks not breaking something that wasnt broken. Great sports gamr
No. I played a ton of show 17 and they didn't fix the biggest problems from last year: line drives up the middle still hit the pitcher, and fielders still miss easy tags on the basepaths. This video is very misleading, he should have presented examples of more common players as well. Of coarse the developers will spend extra time on 85+ overall rated players
youcantdothat 64 You only mention the minor negative aspects. You failed to mention that each year the AI and certain game play actions and responses are trying to be more life like. Each years shows good improvements and strides. For example, this year (18), they vastly improved multiple aspects of Catcher gameplay in terms of reading, reaction and multiple animations. If the ball was pitched in the dirt, it was almost always a cheese steal in (17). Half the time the catcher would hesitate and then throw to the proper base or wouldn’t adjust his body physics correctly. However, this year (18), they fixed ALL of those issues and also added quick throws, from the knees, to first and third...plus better pick off response to second base. And that’s just one position! They could settle and send the same shit out every year and still be the top Baseball game, yet every year, they find ways to improve the game to try and make it feel more realistic.
jahh1975 I understand that the developers work hard to make significant improvements every year, and they can do more than most studios because they don't have to worry about other consoles. However I was just pointing out two of the three problems that happened every single game in MLB 17, and from new gameplay I've seen they didn't fix those problems. The third problem I wanted fixed was in the menus so I don't know if they fixed it since I don't have the game. Also I tried to provide constructive criticism, pointing out that the dude who made this video review should have compared one or two silver players to their MLB 17 selves, so we could have seen if the developers improved more than the 20-25 good players in the game besides legends.
I understand the animations have gotten better, etc but the graphics looked smoother in 17. I've played RTTS, Franchise, Conquest and still can't get into 18 like I was in 17. The hitting feels even more empty TBH. Its been a couple weeks since I played 17 but I'm gonna go back and see if I still feel like this. And the over all layouts (banners/windows)on the pages looked better in 17 too. And I'm not having nearly as much fun playing RTTS and for some reason I can't change my guy to a pull hitter, which sucks. And they also changed Bautista's batting stance, his arms and hands are the same but they gave him almost a slouch in 18 lol I don't like it.
I really enjoyed playin The Show 17 and lookin forward to The Show 18.I'm a Tigers fan so I hope their home unis look blue instead of lookin like black.
@Sports Gamers Online .... At around the 1:44 mark you start to talk about the delivery of Kershel. It's honestly poorly done and so are all the pitchers in MLB the Show. Instead of graphical comparison, you should honestly do animation or *movement* comparisons because the pitching mechanics has never looked correct in MLB the Show.
@Sports Gamers Online ... I actually have been meaning to create an movement comparison between TheShow, ProYakyuuSpirits, and real MLB footage and post it on operationsports so the developers could see. I simply haven't had time. I started doing a writeup as well, but haven't finished. And it is because of the completely unrealistic pitching animation for ALL MLB the Show pitchers that I stopped playing the game. I will come back to the series when they fix their pitching animation and in other areas as well. Yes, I have actually checked on the majority of MLB the Show pitchers using real speed and also slow motion frames. The mechanics are simply not realistic in MLB the Show and never have been. For one thing, The Show pitchers don't tuck their glove side arm to their body on follow through ; Their hips and shoulder don't rotate separately ; The follow through does not have the proper recoil ; They're missing the proper "pitcher's triangle" (it's a term I coined; it has everything to do with their arm/joint position) -- they are simply not correct -- which is part of the reason their arm whip and torso follow through is completely lacking. Hopefully you've seen the following posting: Pro Yakyuu Spirits (Professional Baseball Spirits) - Yu Darvish ruclips.net/video/VgwIbmWgmxQ/видео.htmlm12s MLB the Show 17 - Yu Darvish ruclips.net/video/msKUjGOyUlU/видео.htmlm49s
Judges bad stance last year was crazy and i hate correas batting stance this year but you can definitely see a difference in graphics best sports game ever
Not all significant players have a Graphic upgrade ...some are still very terrible.. But the game definitely looks way better than last year's version.
Please, Everyone, always treat Everyone and Everything with kindness, love and respect. Please always remember, Jesus is always there for you no matter what. Please open your hearts to love and please find Jesus!!!!!!!
This game is like that girl who's really hot but has no personality. I mean, the players still move around like robots; no athletic fluidity to their motions. The fans probably still sound boring no matter what the situation , and the commentary still probably stinks. I don't care how good the game looks. Get the small details right.
Sports Gamers Online Now you know that is false... the game is literally made by Sony. It will never be on any other platform. Disappointed to see you even post this comment.

hi
Am I the only one thinks the twirl/spin pitchers do when they strike someone out is the stupidest thing. Like maybe in the clutch situation, but c'mon, it's almost every time.
I feel ya bruh.
It sure is irritating and unnatural to see such.
Bryce Harper’s gloves have an UA logo.
Transferred my player from RTTS 17 and went from 99 overall to 41 overall. I get the game is trying to be more realistic but my favorite player is Ken Griffey Jr and there is no option that you can choose to have a player like him in this game cause that type of player doesn’t exist in today’s MLB

I'm not going to lie I do like 17's Arenado better.
Niko McNabb me too
The uniforms are still stiff as hell lol

michael maddox you don’t know why, huh? 😂
Nocta Eucta yea I don’t know why? Why you say that 😂
You can really tell all the work they put into the uniforms and cleats this year. They really seem to pop.
The color of the uniforms, and the logos, not the uniforms, those are the same
They screwed my astros on the 90s unis ..the navy blue and gold hopefully they add it ..and I would like to have seen jordan cleats but nonetheless love this game every year
Kraken988 lol... shut the hell up kid.
Bro did u just call him mike Stanton in 2018
Mets Diehard mike Stanton is his real name and he changed it to Giancarlo
His full name is Giancarlo Perez-Michael Stanton.
Mets Diehard that's how actually name
Mets Diehard thats his name bro.. Look at his rookie card

The colors are def fresher this year
Only sports game on the market that has a significant upgrade every year. Each new game definitely justifies spending $60 (or more depending on which version you get) on it. This year’s game just feels special.
They removed Season mode. Just play Franchise and put everything on Auto. Problem solved. And look, I did it without childish insults like you made.
Devs leave game mode in and make no improvements to it = complain.
Devs remove game mode to make massive improvements = complain.
Either way people are going to complain.

What got upgraded in franchise mode? The layout? Everything else is literally the same.
Great video. Really shows off colors in 18.
When I’m a free agent in RTTS receiving offers I wanna be able to see more than just the offering teams record from the previous season. Signing for 5+ years can I at least get more info on who I’m signing with?
Thanks for the vid!
After watching it I won’t be picking up the show ‘18, ‘17 is good enough for me.
you can clearly see when Scherzer is in the bullpen at the end of the video, that his eyes in fact are different colours
LOL yankee fans behind Harper
T Piedog yea?? What’s your point?
idk if your from the dc area, but there are rumors here about Harper leaving the Nationals during free agency to go to the yankees
T Piedog LOL! No I wasn’t aware of that. Funny.
T Piedog it’s not a dc thing it’s been well traveled in ny since he made the mlb
Tbh, it's one of the top things people talk about with the Nats here, so it's definitely a commonly talked about in general, but especially here.
Keeps getting better and better every year
In 18 the people look more real

Yet Dozier still has long hair and clean shaven from MLB 15

Nolan’s batting gloves are mint he said he chose that color to stand out and because the color pops
Same shit different year .
phenomenal job on this comparison, thank you!
Hate the fact that Oakley sunglasses have been removed, and I also hate the fact that the traditional catchers masks are black.
My two biggest complaints are that Trout never looks like Trout and Todd Frazier never looks like Todd Frazier.
The new stadium specific cameras really add to immersion..and i absolutely love the full speed replays, adds realism and pop and keeps the momentum and excitement going. Brilliant job. Small but meaningful tweaks not breaking something that wasnt broken. Great sports gamr

Sony San Diego took out all the awesome Oakley sunglasses! Not sure if their contract ran out or what but it’s an extreme bummer!
Pretty dope! They upgraded alot
MLB the show should add Belgard elbow guards
Does 18 have season mode?
Judges bad stance last year was crazy and i hate correas batting stance this year but you can definitely see a difference in graphics best sports game ever
Todd Frazier needs a new face scan. He looks like a create a player
Arenado is wearing the Fathers day gloves from last year when he hit for thwe cycle. You know, superstition.
Charlie Blackmon beard didn't get a upgrade
What happened to Wilmer Flores face.It literally didn't change.
Altuve and Correa look like completely different people in 17
Just saying. Complaining about stances should be a thing of the past now. We have stance creator now. Can always tweak it here and there.
where have you been, its giancarlo stanton and an underarmour logo
HOLY SHIT IT LOOKS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER. IMA DEF SPEND $60 FOR THIS HUGE UPDATE

I think Gary Sanchez has the best overall upgrade
I hate when people show off there new games
Subscribed on the basis of this entertaining, nicely observed video.

have you even played the game yet? lol
Frank nope, but I've seen gameplay and I was more than underwhelmed. The commentary is literally the same.
This shit has taken my soul. DD is lit
Not a big difference in graphics between 17 and 18
Todd Frazier’s face looks terrible
For real. I understand they can't face scan everyone but their own created player models are atrocious.
Because not all players want to be scanned.
SOB's gonna get my money again
Gary sanchez last year looked terrible. Finally they got his face right. Lol
Really bro, Brice Harpers gloves were clearly under armour
Don't call someone out, your stupid ass can't even spell his name right. Bryce, not Brice, dipshit.
He’s not Mike Stanton anymore!!!!!!!!
Damn, I wish this was on PC
You just might get your wish this year...
Sports Gamers Online how? Isn't this playstation exclusive?
Sports Gamers Online
Now you know that is false... the game is literally made by Sony. It will never be on any other platform. Disappointed to see you even post this comment.
There's plenty of PS4 emulators that you can find on PC
Brad Sherman this is true
I'll stick with 17 and just wait for 19. 18 doesn't look bad or anything but I can't pay 60 bucks for that
This is a graphics comparison not a gameplay or improvements vid. You should check out our MLB 18 Review for that.
Sports Gamers Online Will do!!
Yea definitely look to the other improvements. I was skeptical at first, but this years game feels really good.
Mookie looks real
Lol machado to the Phillies
He’s going to the Yankees
im seriously going to buy a ps4 just for this game
❄️❄️❄️FROSTY GAME CHANGES!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❄️❄️❄️
I have the new Benq 4k hdr monitor. And will tell you it Looks alot better on it
chris sale looks good
Ridiculous how franchise mode is still ignored.
It's offline, no one gives a fuck.
It looks a little better but not enough for mevto go out and buy a ps4,for me to play it
I don't like the equipment details. The gloves, and shoes look boring.
Joseph Taylor .... lol.
there is no reason to buy 18
Hitting is fucking broken
Both games look great lol
I’m going say this ik I’m going to get a lot hate I think mlb the show is boring I either play fornite ww2 and 2k
You should compare to the Xbox version. Hahaha 😂
Nomal130
All I know they still have some useless stats in the game.
fliplife67 ok like
