RIP Ronnie, I still come back to this video every once in a while as it has such a special atmosphere and it's sad to read he passed away. I hope he's delighting people with his music somewhere else. 🙏🏽
It is with the greatest sadness that I have to inform you that our beloved Botswana Folklore Guitarist Ronnie {Ronald) Moipolai has passed away untimely after a short illness. I, together with so many of his you tube fans will miss him and his songs dearly, may his soul rest in peace. Ronnie born 26-April-1979, died 21-September-2018, RIP !
You should watch also the street performers in some Southamerican countries, etc. Watch Daniel "el negro" Ferreyra from Argentina, Los hermanos Vargas from Chile, etc.
I see lots of people are confused about the gender of the guitarist likely due to the head gear. He's a man by name Ronnie Moipolai from Botswana. He learnt how to play the guitar from his late father. Sadly he lived like a pauper on the streets of the Botswana capital Gaborone playing for coins from passers by inspite of his great talent. He passed away in late 2018 at age 39. Rest in perfect peace dear Ronnie.😥😰
@@12south31 , no ! The average life expectancy for his country Botswana as at 2019 is 69.59 years which is approximately 70 years. He died at 39 years which is 31 years short of the national average. That's very bad.😥
Life is not fair. Every African you meet is practically Mozart. And some Africans will pass for 3 Mozarts. I want to be a cheerful and talented African, sit in the sun and sing amazing songs.
Without disrespecting any musician anywhere on the planet: trying to compare this performance to a Mozart shows how much you don't understand Mozart's genius.
@@matoatlantis For me, obvious, proven genius belongs to people who offer some new perspective, a new meaning. Brilliant scientists came up with something that no one could imagine. Brilliant artists created something that no one had seen before. Brilliant musicians weave amazing, previously unknown music from sounds. What did Mozart create that was so special that didn’t exist before? And Africans, over the last 100-200 years, have created everything special in music, everything new, everything previously unheard and previously non-existent. Without the Africans, we would still be listening to dull sonatas, rondos and minuets. These village African musicians are every greater Mozart than Mozart himself.

Lovin' this. To everyone interested in how to play this, the tuning is open F. Pretty unusual. Tune from 6th to 1st string like this: F C F A C F, or to Open D, which is D A D F# A D and then capo 3 (so your strings don't break). The I and IV chord (F and Bb) tabbed out are 000000 and 555555, and the V7 chord (C7) is 777775. It would go up 3 frets if you have the capo on Open D of course.
