Trying to get a lot of beginner-oriented content up in the lead up to PoE open beta, I think this game is going to have a huge influx of players! Watching Chris Wilson tour the US and do interviews with gamespot, IGN etc has been awesome.
Much appreciated. I think the barter system is the hardest part of the game to figure out, and you did an awesome job explaining it. Even tho this video is a year old, I'm sure most of it is still relevant. Thanks!
It's best to use the quality orbs before using a chance orb but the quality % has no effect on the magic/rare rolls. Quality is like a separate improvement of that item. For a dagger, for example, each 5% might give you a bonus 1-2 damage on the base damage stat. Then your rare roll could give you bonus physical damage, but these are not connected in any way. Hope that helps!
Item level determines the max possible socket roll but otherwise the rolls are random. I think these are the levels (from memory): item level 1 - max 2 sockets (apart from the beach weapon) item level 15 - max 3 sockets item level 28 - max 4 sockets item level 35 - max 5 sockets item level 50 - max 6 sockets
Sure! First, create a PTR account by logging into your Battle.net Account Management page and selecting your Diablo III license. Once on your Diablo III landing page, click Create a PTR Account. After you have created your PTR account, you will be able to download the PTR client from your Diablo III landing page, or from your Game Downloads page in Battle.net Account Management. To play on the PTR, simply launch the PTR client and log in normally.
Great vid! Really liked how you went about explaining the currency items grouped up like that. I had a kinda similiar guide in the making but since you did such a great job I'l just drop it :P
Thanks Ziggy, i started this game cus my friend from WoW said it was great, you've really helped me learn some important crafting and newbie stuff so again thank you so much for your videos ^^
In some builds you keep certain gems at a specific level, This is usually either because of stat requirements, mana costs or because there's no real benefit to leveling it up. Some examples of this in the current game: - elemental cleave builds wont level up cleave past lvl 5 as it only adds physical damage for increased mana cost beyond that point. - Most builds wont level up clarity beyond level 4 or 5 as it reserves too much mana and gives more than enough regen at that point.
Thank you for making these videos. This video really helped explain the currency for me (I'm obv a newbie, only 2 days in), and your videos really have helped. Saving this video for reference material!
I'm running a Flame totem build and this video helped me a lot to upgrade my gear. I would've better if I had more luck with crafting :) Thanks for the vid and keep it up!
Tip: put your cursor over an item and type /itemlevel and it will show the level of that item. It's good to know before using certain orbs. Also, keep in mind that jeweler's and fusing orbs can also reduce the number of sockets or links, not always increase.
No, suffix and affix are basically two "lists" of different effects you can enchant the item with, such as extra life or more physical damage. Some things may only appear as an affix or suffix, or it may have similar effects but be added together. This is why some higher levels items can get over 100% physical damage or armor boost for instance. At least that's how I have perceived it to work. Hope that helps :)
Ah I see! I was experimenting with the feed and was posting an older video. Sorry it was confusing! Though I'm glad you saw it so you could point out it needed updating :3
Ohhh i was in your channel and this video was one that was on top so i thought it was a new one. RUclips is so confusing when it comes to what video is new and what is not.
Usually people use a mirror to duplicate someone else's gear in exchange for a fee. So if I find a mirror and want the best chest armor in the game I'll go talk to the guy with that armor and arrange to duplicate his armor in exchange for an exalt or something.
I'm pretty sure he has a video about this. But jsut offhand, ALL currency item's have value and you should always try to pick them up Rare yellow item's should be picked up, as they are rare and generally have value Rings and Amulet's are commonly picked up as they are only 1 block in your inventory and you can afford the space 5 and 6 link item's...they sell SUPER high and are VERY useful Rare blue item's you can pick and choose what ones you pick up, I personally pick up all of them in solo
Hi I think it's very helpful. However I missed some "beginners" crafts like those where you take a chromatic ring + y and it will become a special magic (blue) that is helpful for the beginning. Idk the details, but I know they are there. Those were what I was looking for :D
Really good video, not sure on the significance and/or difference between affix and suffix, for example, so a suffix stat mean that it is applied after all other modifiers? So does this mean that an affix is applied to a base stat? Anyway, subscribed :)
Haha, yeah, that threw me off. I probably would have redone that section but I only had one Regal Orb xD Stuck with the blooper roll! Possibly worst rare I have ever seen too.
Ziggy, what's the guitar music in the background? It's pretty :) also thanks for the vid cost a lot but really really really useful especially in those implicit value. I was just not wrapping my head around that till you used it.
is there a sheet that i can print out and hand next to my printer so i can really understand what is going on ? great video btw. Crafting in POE has really confused me.
I'm deaf so I have one question about adding socket. You showed the sun plate which has 4 reds 1 green and you used chromatic orb to turn green into red. So how can you turn green to red? I figured everything out by watching but one thing I can't figure out is socket colors. Basically more colors on armor will turn one into same colors that has most same colors?
Glad my video is able to be helpful despite no audio! The chromatic orb basically randomizes the colors of all of the sockets on the item each time it's used. So you might go from R-R-G to R-B-G or even G-G-G. It's almost entirely random *however* the base item type and it's STR/DEX/INT requirements determine how likely each color is. STR gear is most likely to roll Red sockets (blue and green are considered to be off color and are harder to get). DEX/INT armor (aka shadow gear) is much more likely to roll Blue and Green sockets and red will be quite rare. On low level gear it's not a big issue but on higher level gear it can be very hard to get multiple off color sockets. Trying to roll 4 blue sockets on an evasion 6-linked item, for example, could take hundreds of chromes. Hope this helps!
ZiggyD Gaming Ah yes, obviously heh. I understand now. Thanks. I was working on level 20 witch which I had trouble trying to find gear items that has more blue sockets. But now I know. Subbed and like :)
Hello, and thank you for the video, it was informative. I am new to POE and i have a witch with the rain of fire spell that i have had since about level 9 and im currently level 24 i think. I have done none of the crafting stuff and i have have rarely if ever upgraded any of my gear and im still rolling through the content like it is not even there... is this normal for this game? Does the difficulty increase at some point of can i just rain of fire my way until the game is over without putting much thought into it? And before you ask if im trolling, im not. I am legitimatlly wondering where the challenge is supposed to be and if im doing this right because i dont think it should be quite this easy. Thats not to say i have never died in the game because i have, it just seems like it takes a whole, whole lot to kill the witch.
do you have any tips for what loot I should pick up and what I should sell to vendors? I'm lvl 28 Shadow, Normal difficulty, Act 2, soon Act 3 (don't know if this matters though :D )
hi ziggy is there any information about % drop rates of currency ? or maybe atleast drop rate of white blue rare and uniques monsers ? and this stuff ? thanks=D
you forgot to say that jewellers and fusing orbs consume the quality of the item you want to craft (to increase the chances of getting 5-6L but not worth it), so be sure to get your links right before adding your quality!
I love these types of games. Especially that skill tree is really compelling. But this crafting, items, currency and these random rolls on important stuff just irks me out. I wish there were no items and just levels and skills that you could choose.
Kazathul Sounds like you're looking more for the spectacle fighter genre - they typically have an RPG feel with unlocking new skills and passives but often no real items or gear. This sort of RPG is know as the "Loot-Based Action RPG" - the randomized loot defines the genre :)
+ZiggyD Gaming 1. How many (a) is one (f) How many (f) is one (ex) How many (ex) is one (c) 2. How much is one (ex) in terms of real life money? Like USD, cuz I have seen sites where u can see the price but you have nothing to compare in game with. So how you can look up how much it's worth and what to sell it for IG. Also so I don't get scammed or know what to sell it for when I want to sell something.
docs(DOT)google(DOT)com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArsB7KohOhhpdHoyZzU2WVZZNXQxMDg4MVk1b0FGbkE#gid=1 Should be what you are looking for. Make sure out check out the tabs down the bottom.
Realistically speaking, how far do you think people can go WITHOUT crafting a single thing? No spending of orbs etc on items, just hoarding like a mental patient xD
Yeah that was a real bad roll haha wow, you should have asked me for currencies I have a lot still both in hardcore and default, I don't need them anyways for your videos you could have used them. If you need something you can contact me and then we hook up in the game and I give you stuff since I won't be playing before OB anyways.
Trying to get a lot of beginner-oriented content up in the lead up to PoE open beta, I think this game is going to have a huge influx of players! Watching Chris Wilson tour the US and do interviews with gamespot, IGN etc has been awesome.
Once is enough man! thanks for the support and glad you're enjoying the content.

Ah thanks! And good point about default vs HC.
i'm new to POE and i made it to level 32 now and i didn't know like half of this info lol.. thanks for helping and keep it up :)
Peter Ghobrial My pleasure! Welcome to PoE as well!
Peter Ghobrial I just started as well and i am so thankful for these vids
One of the best videos on PoE that I have seen. Thanks for creating it!!!

This actually helped me very much! Was soo confused about the currency in such till I watched this! even set up stash up as yours! It helps :)
Just started playing PoE, your videos are a godsend sir! Thanks and subbed.
Awesome! Welcome to PoE and to my channel!
just5 started playing poe and your videos are amazing!!!!!!! your my new favorite youtuber.

I'm not even particularly that new, but god damn I like having some clarification on these things.

Feisty Fox82 Awesome to hear mate! Welcome to the game, and props to your friend for sharing it with you!
good video! thank you! helped me learn my friend how the currency system worked
Thanks Ziggy for the quality guide :)

Ah I forgot about that one! It's a vendor recipe for anyone wondering. You trade the scour + the gem to the vendor and it comes back one level lower.
Great video, man. Really well explained, concise. Thank you.
Pick up the item with your curso and then press enter and type /itemlevel and hit enter again!
Thats exactly what every PoE's newbie should know, gj.
I'm running a Flame totem build and this video helped me a lot to upgrade my gear.
I would've better if I had more luck with crafting :)
Thanks for the vid and keep it up!
i was lost with this but good video im seeing your entire list haha! good job dude

Great guide, very very helpful.
Iv been playing poe for a bit now, always love this time of genre, your videos are very insightful, awesome job keep going :)
Thanks this helped alot and gave me a better understanding :)
Very nice videos and explanations , thank you ! :)
Thanks,very informative.
Hey man, thanks a lot for this video.
Ohhh i was in your channel and this video was one that was on top so i thought it was a new one. RUclips is so confusing when it comes to what video is new and what is not.
Because this video was made in january! ;) thanks for reminding me though, I'll make an annotation.
ty so much i needed this

Great guide. Had to give a Like for you actually using some of the rarer orbs in making this video. Several cringe-worthy "OMG, don't do it!" moments.
great vid thanx!
amazing video ty man
Thank you! :)
scourings can be used to delevel gems. if someone doesn't have enough str, dex or int or the skill costs too much mana.
I had no idea that mirrors were so rare, I used one once to see exactly what it did, been looking for one ever sice
D: they are about winning the lottery rare!
Really good video, not sure on the significance and/or difference between affix and suffix, for example, so a suffix stat mean that it is applied after all other modifiers? So does this mean that an affix is applied to a base stat?

Ziggy, you are awesome. Simply awesome. I'm sorry I can only subscribe once :D
Thanks dude :)
Is there an acoustic version of price of freedom from ff7cc in the background?
Ziggy, what's the guitar music in the background? It's pretty :) also thanks for the vid cost a lot but really really really useful especially in those implicit value. I was just not wrapping my head around that till you used it.
Just some tracks I recorded, glad you like it :)
Also glad the video helped!
How is it that you look up the Itemlevel? Can´t remember :)
BTW. That was a very nice vid. dude :) It explained alot :)
wow thanks!!! i dint realise that and i just keep leveling them up :s...
is there a sheet that i can print out and hand next to my printer so i can really understand what is going on ?
great video btw. Crafting in POE has really confused me.
sockets in armour linked or not, whats the point of that?
They allow 'support' gems to change the way skill gems work (when a link is present between the support and skill gem).
You forgot the link to poeex.info in the description. Also note this is for Default Leage, in HC the exchange rate is usually different.
So does quality value matter when using chance orbs? Thanks much for this video I was very confused beforehand but I'm startin to get it ;x
Thnx
For jeweller's orbs, how are the number of sockets determined each roll? By the item level? By the Character level? Both?
Can you make a new video about what to pick up and so on? Iam from d3 but Its kinda hard to know what to pick up
Thanks for the reply, its hard to find info like this anywhere. Or my google fu is weak
BTW, you should clarify that Regal Orb can only craft rare with 3 affixes
I'm deaf so I have one question about adding socket. You showed the sun plate which has 4 reds 1 green and you used chromatic orb to turn green into red. So how can you turn green to red? What bow would you recommend for a person who doesnt have a lot of currency
lol that block and stun recovery roll wow haha never seen that. 2 stat rare.
So ... if you have an iLvL 78 rapier, and you spend 1500+ alts and never see a +130% phys roll, what can you do?
What happens if not all sockets are linked? how dose it work
In what way are you asking? Support gems only work if linked to the main skill via socket links.
hi ziggy is there any information about % drop rates of currency ? or maybe atleast drop rate of white blue rare and uniques monsers ? and this stuff ? thanks=D
Nah, nothing solid but Chris Wilson has said from time to time how some things are rarer than others etc.

True! though this wasnt the case when I created this video ;) That's a relatively new addition to the game.
"ere bert..... this bloke won't haggle"
how do you get more than 4 tabs in the stash??! :D
Sry for you regal orb lol

ZiggyD Gaming PvP is really fun. PvE is OK too. I don't know who enjoys grinding for items.....
How much of this still holds true to the game?
@ZiggyDStarcraft you just made a video called "Path of Exile News: Stop Using POEEX.INFO! Use EXILEEX.com Instead!". Why did you not link exileex.com.
MUSIC?
stil holds up?
why havent you level up your gems ?
Ok, if someone wants to trade an item, and their price is "2c," what the fuck does that mean?
"c" is shorthand for "Chaos Orb"
Ex = Exalted Orb
f or Fus = Orb of Fusin
a = Alchemy Orb
god bless you

i wanna see some action!
check out some other videos! haha
Oh god that regal. I'm so sorry.
Lmao at the regal orb
Realistically speaking, how far do you think people can go WITHOUT crafting a single thing?
No spending of orbs etc on items, just hoarding like a mental patient xD
Not trading or crafting items? Well you could eventually make and endgame viable character just from prerolled drops, but it would take a lot longer!
The hardest thing would be sockets - you'd have to find good items also with good sockets :S
+ZiggyD Gaming It would probably be a little boring as well. At the moment I'm going full strength leech tank and without chromatics I'd be very stuck
Good bye Regal :'(
