No filthy immigrants back then and people able to walk around a city centre in broad daylight without getting knifed or mugged while the police arrest the wrong person
4:10 -- bet you anything that foreground girl in green (German army surplus shirt? - 4:10 ) is a teenage metal fan -- they used to exist. I believe Wheatus once mentioned the phenomenon in a song. I'm 40 and nothing makes me more melancholy than the sight of that girl. So familiar and yes so exotic, Like a 20th century man remembering the Samurai.
@@AnthonyStorm11 People are busier nowadays and some people are introverted, and use their phone to reduce social pressure to make or not make eye contact, etc.
Simpler times. Fashion seemed a lot better back then too. Now, everybody seems to be in sports wear (Under Armour, Nike, Adidas, and North Face). JD Sports has a lot to answer for lol!
I know I was the only 16 year old in 2001 to have a GAP leather leather suite. GAP leather bormber jacket and GAP leather jeans. I begged my mum for it and she spent £400 on it. Still have it lol.
I wouldn't say the country was full of "nice, normal people" back then either... Less _toxic_ most definitely (no contest there), but certainly not nice - and definitely not "normal" on the whole as they had been say - even 10 or 15 years beforehand. At least there was still a "manageable" amount of normality back then (if not absolutely perfect). 2001, there was definitely a noticeable change by then.
Years ago I used to watch that TV programme called How We Used To Live, but this is really it! People reading newspapers or books, chatting with each other (teenagers too!) or just looking bored. Not a phone in sight. Can someone give me a time machine so I can go back there please! 😀
22 years, and almost a world away
Seems so recent and so similar, but also a lot has changed
For the better of course.

Ayup did that car at the start go through a red light? 🚦 😅

Interpreted literally, that's very incriminating.
Not a trans in sight

Which month in 2001 was this filmed?

It's nice to see people walking around without their phones.
Cringe factor 100 at your comment!
Why? The comment is truthful. @@langserv
@@AnthonyStorm11
It's because every old video has that comment on it, and rose-tinted glasses are never a true reflection of reality..
@@langserv You have a very good point and I'm not disputing your point. However, a lot of people really do have their head buried in their phone.

The world before social media

Wheres all the musleeems???
That’s a better cleaner society people look happier especially the younger ones not looking vacant and depressed
Gosh. A cleaner more pleasant city. Back before the place was flooded with drug addicts and cultural enrichers.
I agree, however you could say the same about the vast majority of cities in Britain. They've all been "culturally enriched"... 🤢
from a nice normal city full of nice normal people to a third world dystopian s hole. all by design.

Young people fashion back then was very drowsy very daunting and very captivating.? 0:23
God I wish I could go back that Manchester. No ugly apartment blocks. No mobiles. Not so busy. Life was so much easier back them. Blah blah blah.
Buildings almost exactly the same, no?
no one with a phone in their mouth, now it's a nightmare
It’s a shame this isn’t a year or so later. All us moshery kids would hang about at urbis. It wasn’t fully built in 2001. Any videos from that time?
Ironside probably had twice the number of legs when this was filmed.
Those trams are cool.
A city center without political activists, diversity or camera phones... what went wrong.

This decade made me sick! It was such a horrible time!
