Reading lines of Unown is just basically reading. Cause they're letters. The real question is the same one GF have asked us since the 90s. Red version or Blue version?
If the beasts were resurrected from eeveelutions, that would make the part of the story where Ho-oh imbues them with the three elements, kind of irrelevant... But if you just say it was unevolved Eevees, then the story actually makes some sense, because an unevolved Eevee is literally all about being susceptible to elemental influence, so it would not be surprising if getting a crazy level of elemental energy would transform them to the legendary beasts INSTEAD of just eeveelutions.
I believe that Volo has a togepi because deep within his heart, he is trying to do the right thing, he is trying to create a better world. Togepis can be found in Hissui in the wild, as well as Togetics and Togekisses. It would not be impossible to believe that in a better, more peaceful time Volo would have been more like Cynthia, a simple lore keeper who loves Pokemon and People. Remember that in Pokemon Masters she has Giratina, and in the latest event her Giratina seems to be acting off for some unknown reason while the top of a Togepi's head is seen running off somewhere in the very last scene. Yes Volo is a monster from our perspective, but he also helps the trainer, he helps with the lake trio quest, dealing with the red sky, and finding the missing Arceus plates. All he wants is a better world, and perhaps that is what his togepi sees in him, a person wanting a better world.
I personally see Volo with Togepi as a nod to him once being a good person. In Legends (and places like Galar Alola and ORAS Hoenn) we see that that constantly dealing with otherworldly powers or huge quantities of Infinity Energy can corrupt people. Like Rose with Eternataus, Lily's mom with the Ultra Beasts (in her case turning an already bad person worse) both Archie and Maxie going slightly insane after obtaining the orbs filled with the Primordial energy. But with those theyre treated as a "probably" but in Legends we out righg see what huge quantities of Infinity emergy can do to pokemon (specifically the Guardian mons) if they get boosted by that energy. Even going back to Alola we get horrifying Dex entries for the Megas on how they go mad and are either devolving into their basic insticts, literally dying out right or both in some cases. So Volo is just the newest case of a Good person that cant handle the exesive Infinity energy theyve come into contact with

It's in ORAS that I noticed the heavy play into the Infinity energy corruptions
The alolan dex entries are sus, because they're Rotomdex's POV. We have no idea how it's viewing Megas, and what it's seeing that we aren't. Or what it's hearing. Despite that, numerous times, we've seen Megas used properly, when crystallized human energy used by a human and Infinity Energy used by a Pokemon react to cause mega evolution, without pain. I think the key here is the bond between them. Any mon that isn't fully trained is going to go berserk with power if you shove literally infinite energy into it. I think this is what Rotomdex was referring to. Natural instances of Mega Evolutions, or poorly trained megas, going on rampages or being used to battle so often they melt.

So it's a potential "What if" scenario, but the problem is that the Game and Anime canons don't match up well with how they add things or retcon things or add stuff from the movie canon, so it just ends up being a goopy mess of potential. As for the Rotomdex part, it could be Rotom making things more horrific than needed. But the problem being that Sycamore's assistants are in Alola and ages up, meaning that Sycamore has done far more research into Megas and how they function with the selected Pokemon

I like this idea. Headcanon accepted! The Togepi line is my absolute favorite. Two things to add to your theory. The ONLY place where Togepi can be caught in the wild is in Hisui. So they did exist in the past, not the future. However, they've now gone extinct. And they exist in the peaceful future, ONLY because of the paradox that Celebi keeps bringing them back from the future for good trainers to raise. Celebi is saving the species! Side note, Togepi can be found in the wild with things like PokeRadar, and is found outside of the daycare in the Wild Area of Sword and Shield (which is funny). But that means they are incredibly rare, or just being bred, so my statement is still valid.
Ruin Maniac, if you are reading this I really hope you come back with your theories some day. With just the Infinite Energy files you became my favorite poketuber. To be honest, your theory became my headcanon and now I enjoy the games in a whole new level (way better than the original lore that never gets explained). A lovely video! Togepi is one of my favorite Pokemon and has been ever since I began playing Platinum as a kid, and now, after Legends Arceus' release, I can proudly say that Volo is my favorite Pokémon character. :) I could go into a whole multi-paragraph explanation on why I personally believe Volo's Togepi sticks by his side, even until the very end, but I don’t wish to bore, haha!
I find it most liekly that Volo got his Togepi from Cogita, another tie to the Celestic people. He did not have a peaceful heart, but he did well at hiding it from the player for most of the game; its likely he fooled her as well.

Obviously they aren't literally arms and their is alot more than a thousand but it's mythology. The idea that they are the part of arceus that is used to form the material world makes sense. Unknown are essentially sentient atoms.

I think Volo has one because at heart he's a good person. we regularly see villains having pokemon that love them. like Lysandre being able to mega evolve, several evil team leaders having crobats, as well as Silver. good people can be corrupted and do bad things. I think togepi was one of his first pokemon, given to him as a child or teenager, back when times were good for the Celestica people, and through hardship and abuse his heart hardened and he became obsessed. but in the end, he's still just an abused child lashing out at a world that hurt him. I also think his togepi is a sign that he can be redeemed, if given the chance. I also still think Cynthia is his reincarnation, and her togepi is a part of that. her whole team is due to his own, his love for his pokemon transcending even death.
@@BirdKeeperToby ah! if you're interested (in my theory that Cynthia IS Volo reborn), I can explain it in more detail! so, PLA takes place in the 1860s and is only 5-7 generations between then and now. we can see familial lines, the traits and habits they passed on that are still easily recognizable, be they genetic hair colors and styles, personality quirks and mannerisms, or interests like in specific jobs or pokemon types. we see Gardenia's hair and grass preference coming from being a descendant of a farmer, we see Charm having both Birtha and Agatha's aces, confirming the theory that they're related, as well as making a new connection potentially with Melli being related to both Lucian (hair) and Avery (personality), both are psychic type specialists) and I'm willing to bet the Lucario man didn't just pass his hair down to his descendants, but likely passed eggs of his Lukario down the family line too. but what I note most here, is for most of these people, it's only one or two things. while there's multiple different ways for us to see the signs of their family line, they don't feel the need to beat us over the head with proof. just an outfit piece, or a hair style/color, or both a hair style and matching ace is enough to get the point across. and Cogita is no different. her outfit and hair (though that is likely purely a genetic trait specific to all of the Celestica people rather than a direct lineage sign, so Cynthia would have that regardless of what specific Celestica ancestor she had) as well as the location of her home make her the obvious genetic ancestor to Cynthia. but yet Volo is different. he has nearly everything about Cyntha. her battle theme, her entire team (even always starting with spiritumb) minus only the inaccessible milotic to be replaced with a likewise inaccessible hisuian arcanine, her title as a historical researcher, obsession with the ancient lore and stories and her connection and love for the Celestica people, a drive to meet arceus, as well as the physical genetic traits passed down by the Celestica people, as well as the habit of sneaking up on you and even the finger wave, which I believe Cynthia is seen doing in the anime. even their faces when they lose (for her, in the anime) match near exactly. that same scrunched up forced smile. literally no other character is as DIRECTLY referenced as Cynthia is to Volo. and none of it was even necessary when the very moment we saw his official art pre-release we ALL instantly recognized Cynthia in him. we didn't need them to beat us over the head with the connection, it's obvious. that is, unless they're trying to make the point that Volo is different from the others, that he's not just another ancestor like everyone else, he's something more. and while some think he and Cogita are both related to Cynthia, Cogita clearly at no point has any fondness for him, even as one of the few remaining Celestica in Hisui, so that wouldn't make any sense. and if he were just a fake out bait and switch and Cogita is her real ancestor, then why would Volo have basically ALL of her traits? a bait and switch wouldn't do that. you'd want the similarities to end once Cogita is revealed. a bait and switch has to actually *switch* while many in the Japanese fandom think Volo (and Cogita) are basically immortal and Volo lived on to became the backpacker that you meet at Sinjoh, my pet theory is he actually dies (possibly by his own hand, or by accident blinded by his anger at you thwarting his plans. they do drive home how dangerous it is in Hisui when you're by yourself after all) not too long after your fight, but it's because you show Arceus the world through your eyes with that little piece of it that it lets you keep, and it sees how humans can change and grow given the chance, how much circumstances mold an individual's behavior and view, and so when Volo dies, it allows him to come back and try again, to earn the right to stand before it, and he does. as Cynthia. the same soul, the same feelings, the same desire nearing obsession, but a new outlook on the world. a loving childhood in a safe environment fostering a love for the world and a pure curiosity, instead of the pain and abuse that fed a need for revenge. or maybe I'm just way overthinking things bc he's one of my favorite characters lol but I'd love to know what you think!
I believe that much like real life Japan; the ancient cultures of the Japanese inspired regions have much overlap and are connected to each other. I think that at one point in time, all of these regions were once united under a single civilization, the Dragon Empire.
Doesn’t that present a classic time travel paradox, though? Togepi are only found in a peaceful future that will only be achieved by bringing Togepi eggs back to the present.
Volo has a Togepi because he may be a time traveler just like the player character in Legends Arceus and is not an ancestor or Cynthia but possibly a descendant (Cogita is Cynthia's true ancestor). However, unlike the player character, Volo may hail from a different time period and could have stolen a Togepi egg with ill intent. How he got it to evolve into a Togetic by friendship and lack of a pure heart is beyond me.

Volo has a togepi cause.... he freed Giratina and started the time/space distortions. He been to the peaceful future probably... and took a Togepi with him. Cause now he wants to create an even better future. Remember the Volo seems to be upset he wasn't chosen for anything... he was up for greatness and was willing to do anything to snatch it.. even from the god of the pokemon world itself. That is why VOLO has a Togepi and raises it well. Since he was probably ment to get one from the Kimono girls but was denied this... then prayed to Arceus and was denied anything.. so he took everything he could just to get his "Destiny" and "his right" That or he IS from the peaceful future then went back in time. But personally I think it makes more sense and more in charater that he wants to create a perfect future for his people and pokemon as is his birthright. This is why he gets Togekiss in the end.. cause... deep beneath he isn't abusing his pokemon... he is just trying to make a future where someone like Giovanni and Cypher would never exist!
Hmm. Perhaps in the future, something close to what Lysandre envisioned came to pass, with the world becoming more peaceful and beautiful, leading to an influx of Togepi.

I think you’re missing my meaning. She’s not a literal Kimono girl obviously not she’s the series Glaceon user connected too them in the same way Valerie is with Sylveon. Her dialogue in the Simon ruins event as well as her gifting of the togepi egg convinces me of a similar role in the story and likely some connection

I’m googling this now because I hadn’t heard that to be the case and google doesn’t seem to suggest that body hair is in anyway considered disgusting or offensive just uncommon. Additionally we did a considerable amount of research as to not cause offence given the reputation RUclipsrs in particular have out there and nothing about body hair was mentioned anywhere. Finally we were travelling with a number of people who were currently in Japan for several years and this didn’t come up at all. If you can point me in the direction of some sources on this I’d be happy to read them. If it is the case the Japanese public have my apologies but in 100+ degree heat I’d hope they’d understand.

and while some think he and Cogita are both related to Cynthia, Cogita clearly at no point has any fondness for him, even as one of the few remaining Celestica in Hisui, so that wouldn't make any sense. and if he were just a fake out bait and switch and Cogita is her real ancestor, then why would Volo have basically ALL of her traits? a bait and switch wouldn't do that. you'd want the similarities to end once Cogita is revealed. a bait and switch has to actually *switch*
while many in the Japanese fandom think Volo (and Cogita) are basically immortal and Volo lived on to became the backpacker that you meet at Sinjoh, my pet theory is he actually dies (possibly by his own hand, or by accident blinded by his anger at you thwarting his plans. they do drive home how dangerous it is in Hisui when you're by yourself after all) not too long after your fight, but it's because you show Arceus the world through your eyes with that little piece of it that it lets you keep, and it sees how humans can change and grow given the chance, how much circumstances mold an individual's behavior and view, and so when Volo dies, it allows him to come back and try again, to earn the right to stand before it, and he does. as Cynthia. the same soul, the same feelings, the same desire nearing obsession, but a new outlook on the world. a loving childhood in a safe environment fostering a love for the world and a pure curiosity, instead of the pain and abuse that fed a need for revenge.

I believe that much like real life Japan; the ancient cultures of the Japanese inspired regions have much overlap and are connected to each other. I think that at one point in time, all of these regions were once united under a single civilization, the Dragon Empire.

Volo has a Togepi because he may be a time traveler just like the player character in Legends Arceus and is not an ancestor or Cynthia but possibly a descendant (Cogita is Cynthia's true ancestor). However, unlike the player character, Volo may hail from a different time period and could have stolen a Togepi egg with ill intent. How he got it to evolve into a Togetic by friendship and lack of a pure heart is beyond me.

I love how you just repeatedly have to bring up how volo is a weird random exception (wrt in-verse lore. we all know why he has one at a meta level!) could it be because he had it with him from ancient times, before the celestica people were annihilated? provided he is some weird eternal living person.
Volo has a togepi cause.... he freed Giratina and started the time/space distortions. He been to the peaceful future probably... and took a Togepi with him.
Cause now he wants to create an even better future.
Remember the Volo seems to be upset he wasn't chosen for anything... he was up for greatness and was willing to do anything to snatch it.. even from the god of the pokemon world itself.
That is why VOLO has a Togepi and raises it well. Since he was probably ment to get one from the Kimono girls but was denied this... then prayed to Arceus and was denied anything.. so he took everything he could just to get his "Destiny" and "his right"
That or he IS from the peaceful future then went back in time.
But personally I think it makes more sense and more in charater that he wants to create a perfect future for his people and pokemon as is his birthright.
This is why he gets Togekiss in the end.. cause... deep beneath he isn't abusing his pokemon... he is just trying to make a future where someone like Giovanni and Cypher would never exist!

I think you’re missing my meaning. She’s not a literal Kimono girl obviously not she’s the series Glaceon user connected too them in the same way Valerie is with Sylveon. Her dialogue in the Simon ruins event as well as her gifting of the togepi egg convinces me of a similar role in the story and likely some connection

FYI folks, showing that much body hair in Japan is considered DIGUSTING. The Japanese do not like body hair at all, and you SHOULD NOT show it off, even if your'e a tourist. please don't do this.
I’m googling this now because I hadn’t heard that to be the case and google doesn’t seem to suggest that body hair is in anyway considered disgusting or offensive just uncommon.
Additionally we did a considerable amount of research as to not cause offence given the reputation RUclipsrs in particular have out there and nothing about body hair was mentioned anywhere.
Finally we were travelling with a number of people who were currently in Japan for several years and this didn’t come up at all.
If you can point me in the direction of some sources on this I’d be happy to read them. If it is the case the Japanese public have my apologies but in 100+ degree heat I’d hope they’d understand.
