I hope James Gunn’s universe is a competent world with good movies and tv shows. It won’t be as good as Matt Reeves’s universe, but I’m still optimistic about Gunn’s universe because of the comic runs he announced were being used as an inspiration for the DCU

“Audiences are smarter now” should rather be phrased as “audiences are more set in their ways of demanding a definitive version of the DC characters”. The DC films under Zack Snyder explored philosophical issues and, like Christopher Nolan’s Batman films, juxtaposed the DC characters in a real world, and audiences, especially the anti-Snyder crowd, demanded characters who are perfect from the get-go in a world where morality is clear-cut (good vs. evil-kind of conversation). Zack’s DC films challenged “perfect” characters by making them human first, flaws included. This meant presenting organic character growth and allows us to discover and understand how and why these characters develop their philosophies. Unfortunately, audiences are so set in their ways that they’ll never accept that kind of change. I really miss the days where I could become engaged in a story without ever thinking about what fans demand out of DC because they read a few comics and parrot tired talking points (and they’re valid points, I won’t deny that). But at the end of the day, it’s a more engaging exercise to see growth through the flaws and trials than to let the DC characters be “perfect” from start to finish.

I get what Chris Nolan has said. Even though Zack was criticized for his approach everything that came after was/is affected by his vision. He reverberates through, not only, the superhero genre but action, sci-fi and fantasy.

Well, at least now audiences can look forward to Peter Safran and James Gunn's DC Universe here 🦸

Favorite movie - Man of Steel
Least favorite - Justice League (haven’t seen WW1984 and the last 5 movies)
Would give the whole DCEU a D

The DCEU was Great. But if I ever do DC Movies.
I still like to Hire the Same DCEU Actors in these DC Movies, I want to make.
    - Superman: Unbound.
    - Superman vs. The Elite.
    - All-Star Superman.
    - Superman/Batman: Public Enemies & Apocalypse.
I❤to Turn these DC Animated-Movies into DC Live-action Movies.

Sheraz, I totally agree with you. Audiences would receive it completely different even though BvS is a product of its time. And I really dislike The Batman. Eeeew! And you're focusing too much in "Batman killed blabla". These superheroes are violence propaganda. What Zack and Terrio said there went beyond this bs. Batman V Superman is the most relevant superhero movie of all time and also my favorite. WB used to trust more in their directors. Not seeing that Zack Snyder's view, relying on the auteur, was the right starting point and trying to emulate what Marvel had done was their mistake. And if they keep on doing this and not great movies by themselves the failure is straight ahead. Always!
