You made me feel less worried about drawing sculptures. Thank you! My art teacher back in high school never allowed me to redraw what's drawn(basically let's say a character/person) because she said, "draw something else. We're not doing that." I only drew when I was done drawing whatever lesson she had us draw.

Learning to use references to draw when you're learning is very important. You can't suddenly draw from your head, it takes a template to copy and then maybe modify. In my case it's helped me draw many different things, it just becomes muscle memory lol, sorry for my English by the way

@lily aye you English is fine. The thing is what I think she didn't understand was that I drew the characters in my style. I have a sort of realistic cartoonist style. She would want us to only draw what she put on the board. I didn't find any of the concept drawings she put up as fun or challenging which was why I always kept drawing whatever I wanted which was always final fantasy characters. Sure they looked similar to the reference image I had of them but it was my style in the end.

From everything I saw this is by FAR the best and most fitting video for me (I want to draw Michelangelo’s David 😅) It’s a complete drawing process (wich really helps), and you explain only what’s essential (to be able to draw what you see) perfectly! I improved at breaking ‘’subjects’’ into big shapes and then later add the necessary details, Thank You!
Ps: I’m not an English Speaker 😅

interesting way of applying value. pure observation and comparison of the object. without thinking about form, thus no such thing as "terminator line" which separate the dark and light. just start from the darkest dark all the way to the lightest light. I think it's a good way of a pure practise of observation.

When working out tone I ALWAYS start with the darkest values first, in order to guage the gradual tonal contrasts, it doesn't give me all the answers, but I find it helps, also line is very important especially when dealing with statues/ornaments.
How would you feel about drawing dark statues, such as - bronze or charchol do you ever do that?

the "general shape" - I keep getting it wrong. I have these varifocal glasses and wonder whether thats the reason. But then ... - well, I think that YOUR general shape is quite off too, as well as the lips. Doesn't this bother you?

A Good no non-sense approach to drawing that you are using including never the less measuring tips.
you haven't assumed that people have prior knowledge like most would be art tutors on you tube.

слабый уровень. куча анатомических ошибок, особенно в начале рисования, которые потом старательно закрашиваются тоном. Для себя рисуйте и развивайтесь, но зачем же учить других своим ошибкам?
