I got to hang with Sammy at his induction to the San Francisco Walk of Fame in front of the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium a few years ago. I sat next to him and his lovely wife during the ceremony, which also saw local radio DJ Steven Seaweed get inducted. Hardly anyone was there, so I was able to chat with him and we took a pic afterwards. He was in great spirits, and really seemed to be genuinely thrilled to be inducted in his adopted hometown (he still owns a house in Mill Valley, just over the Golden Gate Bridge in Marin County). Mad respect to Sammy for all of his career achievements. He's definitely one of the good guys in the biz! Great show as usual!
Dreams tops my list for my favorite Sammy song. That guitar solo from Eddie is soaring, beautiful and perfect. It damn near makes me emotional everytime I hear it. Oh yeah, the vocals are incredible too! 🎸🤘🎸
Wow,what an interview! Its so great to see a legit rockstar talk so whole heartedly about his family, career and be honest about it,not a shred of ego This guy is truly a role model
I saw Sammy Hagar I think in 1984 Standing Hampton tour at Welch Arena here in Grand Rapids Mi great show & one of my favorite songs is Pound Cake & I need to get me some Cabo this weekend 💯🎼🎤😍✌️

I've been listening to Sammy's since the early seventies with Montrose seen him lots of times with Van Halen free in Dallas. Seen him last year on tour. What's Sammy there's only one way to rock!!
I have to say thank you for putting the show together. I was really disappointing when I found out that that metal show was canceled. This is the best thing to that I really enjoy and I tune in every week thank you rock on.

Great stuff as per usual - Eddie, Don and Jim are now a Wednesday tradition around my home. Top Sammy Hagar songs ( I'm sticking with solo work ) This Planets On Fire Love Or Money Red High Hopes Plain Jane Trans Am *Don't sleep on Sammy's guitar - dude can play!
For Power Trip a problem is that even for Southern Californians it is a haul to get out there. It is a 2-3 hour drive for much of the LA area. Even the "close" places like San Bernardino are an hour away. I'd consider going if I could go home each night. But a 6 hour round trip each day would be insane and hotels are way too expensive to make staying feasible. Yeah, Coachella is in the same place, but that attracts young people with the energy and time to deal with camping and the hassle. Once you hit middle age you are done with things like that.
Wow! Awesome interview with Sammy. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him so funny. Usually I like to put in my two cents in these comments; but all I can do this time is give this episode five stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great that You Guys are Back! Absolutely The Red Rocker Sammy Hagar Always Been my Favorite Montrose I became a Big Fan Sammy Hagar Live All Night Long my first time to see Sammy Live 1979 Texxas Jam Street Machines Album that was it went to every Texxas Jam Sammy was at Solo and Van Halen I have only gotten to see him Live 27 times He is Rock n Roll Every Band He Rocks!
Nice job Eddie with the HSAS mention in your Top 6! Killer track but the whole record is fantastic as well! Sammy's vocals on it are phenomenal for being live. Neil Schon really tears it up on lead guitar .
Love this new shows format. So cool. No comparison. That first Montrose album kills. Second one is awesome too. 5150 I Don t care for. OU812 is better than some of the Roth stuff. Great show. Definite East coast vibe involved in this one.
I think I’m gonna listen to the 1st montrose album right now. Great show guys, so glad you’re back. My first episode so I’ll be able to catch up quick. Will be a regular for sure.
@ Jim.....the 1st Montrose album is a must have...for guitar players/musicians and music lovers alike....the bass on that album hits you in the chest...Rock Candy, Space Station, Good Rockin'...great vocals...straight up R'n'R, off the floor soundscsape.....give it another listen...cheers @ That Rocks...!!
Awesome episode! 🤘🏻. Surprised nobody mentioned the HSAS album - some of my favorite Sammy material, and Neil Schon is amazing, that was a great combination Glad Eddie‘s feed cleared up, at the beginning the audio did not match up with the video and it looks like an old Japanese monster movie when he was speaking 😂.
Why is Sammy not in the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame as an individual, (yes, I know he is in with VH)? His contributions to rock music for six decades are second to none.
I remember seeing VH here in Louisville KY supporting the Best Of Both Worlds and during one of Eddie's solos he was walking in front of the stage and someone handed Sammy their prosthetic leg and he signed it I thought that was cool as hell
1. Sammy Hagar - One Way To Rock 2. Sammy Hagar - Three Lock Box 3. Montrose - Rock Candy 4. Van Halen - 5150 5. Van Halen - Feeling 6. Van Halen - Don’t Tell Me What Love Can Do
Definitely Eddie has that right I watched Sammy Hagar take over the Texxas Jams and I got to see VH a few times with DLR and I wasn’t a Diver Down fan But Loved Fair Warning skipped school to go to Dallas to see that tour and DLR was to drunk shut EVH down twice when he came out to play Sammy Hagar Always was about a Good Performance now the DLR and Sammy Hagar tour David sounded Good Oh Eddie Trunk You left out Sammy’s 7th Band 2002 Planet Us Sammy Michael Neal Deen Joe
5150 is my fave Sammy w/ VH, but Montrose is soooo influential. So many classic tunes on there. By the way, how can none of you guys have "Rock Candy" as one of your Six-Pack tracks? Fave Sammy deep track: "Three Lock Box".
I've never seen Sammy. Definitely want to. He'll be close at the end of the year. Might have to go. But first, gotta go say goodbye to Uncle Ted tonight in Orlando. 🤘
Great discussion with Sammy and he is always so great sharing nugget's like the Kiss show story, singer d!ck, etc. Would be great to see Alex jam in any capacity with all former members and perhaps some participation from Wolfgang. It's not too late, and out of respect for each other and of course Eddie take this opportunity while you are able.
I dont want to be that guy...but im going to be "that guy".....but I love that yall are doing this kinda thing again....me and my dad absolutely loved that metal show...and hated that it was canceled...so this is awesome....and I love yall back together again and talking all things metal... with that said my band #chasingthecoyote give it a listen...our ep is out on all streaming platforms...we did the album art and recorded the album all on our own....check it out....love you guys
Sammy is amazing! Got to meet him and Michael Anthony a few years ago. They both took some time to talk with us. Sammy looks great for 75 y.o.! Maybe his beverages come from the fountain of youth?
That naked gypsy queens EP is great!! I live about an hour and a half from Nashville, and I've gotten to see them a couple of times. Unfortunately, the singer has left, got fired, depending on who you ask. They have a new singer, butvi haven't gotten to catch them yet. I hated to hear that, because I really dug the first singer
Sammy has had such an amazing career when you think of just Van Halen and Montrose, but you add his solo work plus HSAS, and Chickenfoot he is one of the icons of rock but never gets his due.
First Montrose Album is Legend... Not Even Close! Hey, Whatever Happened To "Crusin' and Boozin'. It Wasn't On Any Of Your Lists!! It's Politically Incorrect Nowadays, But Still A Great Song😎
“I’ll fall in love again “ “pound cake “ “2 sides of love “ - missed the live but watched it back. Great show .
Had the pleasure to meet Mr Sammy and Mr Michael at an event in New Orleans a few years ago. Both were amazing great show y'all.
I got to hang with Sammy at his induction to the San Francisco Walk of Fame in front of the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium a few years ago. I have seen Andrew open for Sammy several times. I really like his stuff. So cool to see Pop being a gushing proud father talking for his son.
Sammy is a National Treasure.
Sammy's the best! It's now officially 5150 time! =VH=
Nice job Eddie with the HSAS mention in your Top 6! Killer track but the whole record is fantastic as well! Sammy's vocals on it are phenomenal for being live. Neil Schon really tears it up on lead guitar .

One of the best gigs I ever saw was Van Halen at Wembley Arena/London. Poundcake started the show - amazing

Just discovered this channel. I never knew it existed nor have I seen any advertising of it.
Top notch stuff, saw Sammy in 1980 at the Newcastle Mayfair with Def Leppard as support, one of my all time favourite gigs
Why is Sammy not in the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame as an individual, (yes, I know he is in with VH)? His contributions to rock music for six decades are second to none.
I would love to see Maniketti on the show. Y&T kicks ass
Ya the boys are back. Just found this channel f-ing so cool. Missed this so much!!!
That was me I was passing some unwanted gas, excuse me everyone. 🤪 Great interview.
suggestion
call it the death/black metal logo segment and include more black metal logos
they are usually far more difficult to figure out
I remember seeing VH here in Louisville KY supporting the Best Of Both Worlds and during one of Eddie's solos he was walking in front of the stage and someone handed Sammy their prosthetic leg and he signed it I thought that was cool as hell
Loved that death metal growl in the opening credits. Another great show.
Jim said he was clearing his troat 😂
Would be cool with a interview with Phil Campbell or Chris Holmes. Fun stories there.
Amen Phil Campbell and Chris Holmes are both still kicking Ass Mean Man and Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons 😊😊♠️♠️
Sammy is the best. What a killer interview.
Nice call on Naked Gypsy Queens as they remind me a bit of Raging Slab. Southern hard rock and "Down To The Devil" is wicked cool!
My favorite Sammy-era VH song is The Seventh Seal from Balance -- very grunge-sounding
Good to see this show. Love it.
Hey Don, next time my band The Mentors do a Hollywood gig, let get you to do a stand up set. Maybe the whisky a gogo?

One suggestion: Don, please get some headphones / microphone.
Jim, you said Sammy should have been bigger (19:45), but, according to Sammy, he was as big as Van Halen in 1984. 😂😂
Was Don playing hide and seek 😂 all the time when Sammy was on

Sammy has had such an amazing career when you think of just Van Halen and Montrose, but you add his solo work plus HSAS, and Chickenfoot he is one of the icons of rock but never gets his due.

The MA dick joke was great. You know you are funny when you make a pro comedian laugh out loud.
