If you like realism more than just plain regular a regular storm chasing game, Outbrk would be for you if it was out. They do scenarios, no generating stuff. Outbrk generates it's game mode from models I think, Idk the new weather system isn't revealed. Outbarks #1
This is only the second storm game tierlist I've ever seen, so that's nice. Two other games I would add to this list are both additional Roblox games: Project Oklahoma and Nature's Fury: Unleashed. Controversies with the creator/owner of the game aside, PO was one of the first games that I got my start on with virtual storm chasing. While I haven't played it for a while, to this day it is still one of my all-time favorites, and until the next generation of tornado games released starting with Twisted, I considered this to be the best storm chasing game ever made at the time. Nature's Fury: Unleashed is one of the new generation storm chasing games that released back in 2022. Unfortunately, the game is discontinued, so it won't be receiving anymore updates. Which is a shame, because through its entire existence it has been heavily overshadowed by Twisted. I haven't played the game yet - I will soon - but it was a very nice little game, and one thing about it that I actually liked better than Twisted was the fact that you could actually see the inner structure of the tornadoes, rather than just getting a bunch of dust effects flying around your screen, which was really cool. As for how my tierlist would go, including the 2 aforementioned games: S: Twisted; Outbrk A: Tornado: Research and Rescue B: SCR7; Nature's Fury: Unleashed; Storm Chasers C: GMod; Project Oklahoma; Helicity; Minecraft D: STR For Twisted and Outbrk, there's nothing new I need to add here. I 100% agree with you. Once Outbrk comes out though and has been around for a little while, it'll overtake Twisted with ease. Tornado: Research & Rescue is Storm Chasers, but better. More vibrant map, better looking storms, better physics, and the retro look is an added plus. But having played SCR7 myself, it just doesn't quite feel like it has the soul - the charm, that's what it is - that those older versions did. I already spoke for Nature's Fury: Unleashed. It had a lot of untapped potential if only it weren't discontinued. Storm Chasers was the first proper 3d storm chasing game that wasn't on Roblox. I had fun watching it when it was first released, especially watching Camodo Gaming and Jeff Favigiano play, but as time wore on, it just doesn't hold up as well compared to what's out now. I was already not too crazy about it either when it first came out, as I was already aware of Outbrk which, even in the very early stages of development it was then at, looked far superior to Storm Chasers. That game hasn't changed much since it released; I'm not super crazy about the driving mechanics; the map is bland as they come; and the tornadoes, while they're alright, again, it'd be nice if the game had a big update so they could be further improved. GMod makes for a lot of dumb fun when you put everything together, and I've enjoyed seeing all the cool videos made with it. Project Oklahoma I've already spoken on. Helicity has potential, but my biggest issue currently is that, based on what I've seen, the tornadoes are just too stupid strong majority of the time. Plus, the current map just isn't it. Hopefully the new update addresses all this and more, and really pushes this game to be the best it can be. Minecraft is... it's Minecraft. There's really nothing else I can say. The game is not designed for cars and stuff like that compared to other games. It is a survival game at its core, and while the tornado survival mod works well for that reason, as a storm chasing game it just doesn't. Plus, I was never really crazy about natural disasters in Minecraft: they just don't look right. The game would be in D tier if it weren't for what comes after it. STR. Literally what is the novelty about a game that has no tornadoes in it at all? The only thing you can do is stand over one of those classic old looking radars that you'd see in older Roblox storm chasing games, and do nothing but watch, rate, and warn tornadoes happening live. It may as well be renamed NWS Simulator. It's a very niche offering for those who are interested in that stuff, but overall, not fun.

Outbrk is really not that good man. It has amazing looking storms, but the quality of everything else? Definitely not worth the €34.99. The storms are also all presets, which is kind of dissapointing. Massive performance issues too, even though i have a beast of a pc, them beautiful clouds do take a toll😂. For a roblox game, I think Twisted is still doing a better job. The randomly generated storms paired with the big playerbase always results in fun chases if you have the right people in your server. It's pretty difficult too!
Y'know a good idea for a stormchasing game would be uh, your view is of a radar screen, and you have to correctly identify hook echos and then deploy teams to the area. Basically Storm Chaser RTS game, where you get to click units, say TIV 1, buy the crew and then deploy it on storms, and guide them to intercept. Could even get say, Probe crews, Camera crews that'll record footage of storms from where you deploy them, etc etc. That would be really cool of an Idea I feel. Even better is if you're sat in the back of a DOW and get to see your crews, like Twisted, but instead of actively chasing, you're directing the chase.
Right? But to add on and make it more clear, there would be an entire world that has the storms and towns and crap, and the vehicles be modeled, and in the original RTS idea, your camera crews and probes can SHOW YOU that world. In the back of the DOW idea, you’d actively be in the world, so if you move the DOW to alongside the storm, you could not only see the Doppler spinning, but say look out the front window and see the tornado in the distance, or see one of your crews, like TIV 2, speed by on the road or stop and sit idle. Or see a camera crew footage as you look at the real storm from where you’re seated. Hell, could even have the ability to stand up and switch to the passenger seat, say to watch the storm or to enjoy the view as the truck drives.
This list is very solid, probably near exactly what I would put together. Twisted is definitely the king right now, but It's very likely gonna be pushed to second place with OUTRBK's release
@@nagol5954 Depends, Twisted is not as realistic as Outbrk. Nothing can get more realistic than Outbrk because it uses model generating scenarios meaning it is just like real life. It would get old but NOT esp after release post release they will have a thing were you can play FUTURE scenarios a day before it happens. They did some tests for yesterday, March 14, Apr 1st 2024 and it was pretty accurate. This game will beat Twisted. The only thing is that if you like realism Outbrk, if you want to just get flung by a tornado or drive into one Twisted. The reason I said Twisted for being flung yk intercepting because if you get a failed intercept in Outbrk you lose that money on the chase you was on. More hype for Outbrk than Twisted any day. Twisted is good to begin and get into the chasing genre, then Outbrk is for the experienced ones. Outbrk can even help future chasers learn to chase because of it's realism. I will drop Twisted 100% once Outbrk releases. Btw Outbrk has a bigger map so that to. Outbrk is soon to be the most realistic storm chasing games ever even twisted can't beat that realism Outbrk has
Used to be an Admin for A stormchasing Gmod server. Storm 37000, biggest storm chasing server I've seen. Unsure how it's been holding on, but the biggest fun you can have is making your own intercept vehicle, and using it. Or making really crappy make-shift probes and deploying them. That's what I had fun with.

I have been playtesting OUTBRK and I can confidently compare it to Twisted with much better graphics! Of course, extra features and stuff but great so far! I cannot wait for the final release!
Gmod Storm Chasing used to be the go to game back in 2010-2015, Roblox games back then were not really great and there were no stand alone storm chasing game at the time but the community really became toxic and had inflated egos because everyone were either not even 10 or were young adults and people had to essentially model intercept vehicles which became a very competitive thing that did not clash well with the demographic Storm Chasers then came out and everyone (at least in GMSC) thought it was awesome and perfect for the first few months before the bugs started to show, then Outbrk was announced which raised the bar for expectations in the market which only declined Storm chasers rating and was then faded away when the dev went offline for 2 or so years Roblox games, Mainly Twisted, Helicity and SCR 7 came out which my favorite is Twisted and id say until Outbrk comes out they are the best games to simulate the experience now that the effects/graphics are not really bad and that the mechanics/thermodynamics simulation make the game so different then the options that came before it, after playing twisted for a couple of years i cant believe how i managed with the limitations of Garry's Mod (Minecraft is kinda a different style of storm chasing experience so that's why i haven't said anything about it) Outbrk is going to be the start of next generation of Storm Chasing Games and i just saw a new video of a new game called "Tornado Emergency" which looks a bit promising from the small preview, and Project Storm a game that has been under a very quiet development looks insane in the graphics department (not much in gameplay or mechanics that I've seen) however I don't see it coming out anytime semi soon or being anything that past gen or even current gen hardware can run.
I honestly believe Storm Chasers has the potential to become a S-tier game. It just needs more development, which sadly has been very on and off where we get an update, and then a drought, and then boom an update, and then repeat the cycle again. And I really like the idea and concept of it, but it just gets boring and stale real fast, which if you ask me, is because the map doesn’t feel alive to me. Because with something like Twisted and eventually Outbrk, there’s more happening than just driving around a map chasing storms. The surroundings feel active and alive and it feels like things are happening, whether being at a hangout place, or going to a shop, or forecasting future weather, or placing watches and warnings, or doing damage survey and rescue or even rebuilding, along with chasing down the weather patterns of the day. Everything feels lived in and active with a substantially big map, and weather behaves like actual weather, so the longevity and replayability is there because you never know what to expect just like actual weather, and there’s much more to do beyond chasing, and everything feels like life is going on and things are happening, and if a place is destroyed, it gets rebuilt and doesn’t stay ruined forever. That’s what Storm Chasers is missing. It has all the cool realism and the amazing effects of storms and mesocyclones and funnels and stuff, and the towns look like actual towns you could visit and live in, but… it all feels more like a post-apocalyptic event and everything’s left abandoned. There’s not really any life or activity in the game, and nothing else to do besides randomly driving hoping storms cooperate and give you good scores. And I know this part may initially seem like a nick pick, but the storms don’t even act as storms. There’s no set weather pattern for the day that you can predict and forecast. It just randomly changes on a dime whenever it wants, which goes into the part that there’s not really much to do. There’s no setting warnings or forecasts or analyzing data, or having to figure out what storms are doing from the ground to provide updates for other people or even NPCs living their lives in the towns or driving on the roads or anything. It’s all just lifeless, empty, no activity, no life. So all the fancy graphics and effects and detailed towns and buildings and stuff, for the most part mean absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of the gameplay experience. There’s no reason to go to your home or someone else’s place unless you want to take a break or pass through time. There’s no reason to visit a town unless you need to refuel or repair, or the storm’s going through the town. There’s just nothing else to it to keep it lively and active and fresh, and giving you the drive to want to keep playing, because eventually the novelty wears off and you get bored of just doing the same thing over and over. Hence the game is really held back and at the moment is feeling like wasted potential really. And it’s not getting updates or news posts or anything frequently enough to keep a consistent community for it either. So if you ask me, if it was just to take something like how Twisted is like and how OutBrk is going to be like, and just apply it into Storm Chasers, it could be a killer of a weather game right now. But in its current state, it’s got an insane amount of potential right in front of it and it’s painful to see it not actually being taken advantage of yet, whether it’s too slow on updates, or just not wanting to take it to that direction, whatever it is. It really could be a S tier game if it wanted to and was brought to that point though.
Yes I agree 100%. All the aspects of realistic storm chasing that you listed should definitely be added, but that would add extra development time, but still if a game adds that, It will take a very long time to get boring (which is a good thing).
Yeah, storm trackers remastered has quite a few players who cry and nitpick how you play. It’s not like it’s an rp server. It’s an experience! So if you have a problem with how I play, you can either POLITELY tell me to not do something or just simply ignore me.
Putting a game that hasn't even released yet at the time was a poor idea. Outbrk turned out to be quite bad with tons of bugs, optimization issues and the insane price tag. Tornadoes also look laughably bad at times, but the biggest issue is the lack of procedural storm generation. They only prepared some pre-made storms so none of them are unique, meanwhile a Roblox game made by two dudes has procedurally generated weather. Maybe I'll repurchase it one day if it gets any better
While yes, Twisted is an S-tier game not gonna lie, its potential is being hampered by Roblox's technical limitations such as its server's memory limit. With 1.21 on the horizon, everything in Twisted might change as there would be better optimization. However, the true potential of Twisted would only be limitless once Roblox would get their act together and care for the community by increasing memory cap of their servers as well as optimizing their engine, instead of "appeasing investors" and making short-sighted decisions. Roblox taking care of community = more players.
now that the update is out memory isnt a problem and performance is amazing but. Robloxs system is holding the game back but it seems like in the near future roblox is gonna be back

As someone who played GMSC (Garry's Mod Storm Chasers) for the better part of a decade since 2014 when the community was still just exiting its early days and going into what could be best described as it's 'Silver Years' (as it's Golden years were when the original servers were running and new maps were a regular) this is both understandable and objective at the same time. Had it been about 6 years ago, the community was massively thriving since new add-ons allowed better tools and vehicles and people outside the original devs were making their own maps along with the gDisasters addon expanding that some. But in recent years, it's become heavily bland. Given the limits to Gmod itself restricting maps, game sessions falling far off the actual storm chasing, and general creativity being lost from everyone building their own custom styles to being repeated 3D models that all look the same over time. It's less storm chasing and just 'sandbox, but with occasional tornadoes causing problems' and even that can be turned off. I and many do agree that if Storm Chasers ever got updated for mod compatibility or even a way to give it a Gmod style sandbox mode, it would undoubtedly be THE chase game to fill in several missing pieces.
In my honest opinion, I feel like Garry's Mod such be at least A Tier, solidly for me. There's been a really long history of different tornado and storm chasing related add-ons that've been released to the Steam workshop that've made me enjoy them so much that it's so much fun chasing tornadoes in an old sandbox game that is actually older then some teenagers that play it today. Personally for me it's been a blast playing with those tornado related add-ons and it was ultimately part of my childhood because I've known that sandbox game for at least a decade now as of 2024. I'm one of the developers of XTwisters Classic and XTwisters 2 which by the way thank you so much for mentioning our add-on. XTwisters is more towards the "realistic" side and boundaries of Garry's Mod. I will say this one complaint of mine about Garry's Mod, the source for it is EXTREMELY outdated and it hasn't been having updates for years now because the original developer of Garry's Mod has moved on to doing a 'better' sandbox game from what I've heard of. But anyways, enough of my rambling, just sometimes people may have their own opinions. I feel like Garry's Mod should've gotten more appreciation and loading a sandbox map needs patience as well. So here's my opinion, read if you wanna, I'm not forcing you to. :)
I agree with you man. Maybe I have should it B+ tier. Because after configuring everything and installing the right mods, it is really nice. I just put in at the C tier because i feel like people won’t understand how to find the right maps and use the steam workshop correctly.

i think now helicity is right behind twisted since the 1.21 update made the game addicting for example theres 10 variants of the tif 2 (2008,2009,2010,2012,ect) and new vehicles and customization like the suspension and repairable damage (not visual yet). So in short helicity is gonna be right behind twisted
Scr7 is way much more betted Than storm chasers honestly imo and when it earns a new update it will probably be better than twisted in terms of how tornado looks though but the features of Twisted like the radar and the details is better Storm chasers imo the tornado back than look better than now and I agree with STR I never tried it but I heard of it not really interested in it sitting there and looking at a radar:/ you might as well play twisted and stare at the radar constantly

I'm making a radar tracker game but when the full release is out *post early access* I will add actual storm chasing, with paring with other "radar trackers" live streams by just linking it up to the live streamer, the best part about it is when I do make that I will make the live stream chat say wow when a chaser is getting thrown
Honestly, in my opinion twisted needs to be a actual game. Not just on Roblox. On Roblox you have a memory cap, lag, etc. If this was a actual game they could do so much more. Just imagine the potential if twisted was its own game. As well as helicity. Also to note that evn if they were to release it make it on console. I couldn't tell you how many people who love the weather and play on console.
I remember a game back in the 2000s that you had to download through a website, and man, was it a blast. Just destroying city after city, tearing buildings apart. I can't for the life of me find it again, and no game compares to it.
Yeah, but I feel like for beginners it will take some time to get set up and get the right maps to play on. Even I had trouble finding the right mods and maps. I just ended up building my own

Used to be an Admin for A stormchasing Gmod server. Storm 37000, biggest storm chasing server I've seen. Unsure how it's been holding on, but the biggest fun you can have is making your own intercept vehicle, and using it. Or making really crappy make-shift probes and deploying them. That's what I had fun with.
Most people don't really chase or anything related to that in the server sadly. Most people just drive cars and spawn random dupes.
What about project oklahoma? Although the game is now dead and has many copies it used to be actually good

I have been playtesting OUTBRK and I can confidently compare it to Twisted with much better graphics! Of course, extra features and stuff but great so far! I cannot wait for the final release!

Gmod Storm Chasing used to be the go to game back in 2010-2015, Roblox games back then were not really great and there were no stand alone storm chasing game at the time but the community really became toxic and had inflated egos because everyone were either not even 10 or were young adults and people had to essentially model intercept vehicles which became a very competitive thing that did not clash well with the demographic
Storm Chasers then came out and everyone (at least in GMSC) thought it was awesome and perfect for the first few months before the bugs started to show, then Outbrk was announced which raised the bar for expectations in the market which only declined Storm chasers rating and was then faded away when the dev went offline for 2 or so years
Roblox games, Mainly Twisted, Helicity and SCR 7 came out which my favorite is Twisted and id say until Outbrk comes out they are the best games to simulate the experience now that the effects/graphics are not really bad and that the mechanics/thermodynamics simulation make the game so different then the options that came before it, after playing twisted for a couple of years i cant believe how i managed with the limitations of Garry's Mod (Minecraft is kinda a different style of storm chasing experience so that's why i haven't said anything about it)
Outbrk is going to be the start of next generation of Storm Chasing Games and i just saw a new video of a new game called "Tornado Emergency" which looks a bit promising from the small preview, and Project Storm a game that has been under a very quiet development looks insane in the graphics department (not much in gameplay or mechanics that I've seen) however I don't see it coming out anytime semi soon or being anything that past gen or even current gen hardware can run.
Twisted overrated if you’re just a fan of tornadoes. Outbrk gonna slaughter this genre.

I honestly believe Storm Chasers has the potential to become a S-tier game. It just needs more development, which sadly has been very on and off where we get an update, and then a drought, and then boom an update, and then repeat the cycle again. And I really like the idea and concept of it, but it just gets boring and stale real fast, which if you ask me, is because the map doesn’t feel alive to me. Because with something like Twisted and eventually Outbrk, there’s more happening than just driving around a map chasing storms. The surroundings feel active and alive and it feels like things are happening, whether being at a hangout place, or going to a shop, or forecasting future weather, or placing watches and warnings, or doing damage survey and rescue or even rebuilding, along with chasing down the weather patterns of the day. Everything feels lived in and active with a substantially big map, and weather behaves like actual weather, so the longevity and replayability is there because you never know what to expect just like actual weather, and there’s much more to do beyond chasing, and everything feels like life is going on and things are happening, and if a place is destroyed, it gets rebuilt and doesn’t stay ruined forever. That’s what Storm Chasers is missing. It has all the cool realism and the amazing effects of storms and mesocyclones and funnels and stuff, and the towns look like actual towns you could visit and live in, but… it all feels more like a post-apocalyptic event and everything’s left abandoned. There’s not really any life or activity in the game, and nothing else to do besides randomly driving hoping storms cooperate and give you good scores. And I know this part may initially seem like a nick pick, but the storms don’t even act as storms. There’s no set weather pattern for the day that you can predict and forecast. It just randomly changes on a dime whenever it wants, which goes into the part that there’s not really much to do. There’s no setting warnings or forecasts or analyzing data, or having to figure out what storms are doing from the ground to provide updates for other people or even NPCs living their lives in the towns or driving on the roads or anything. It’s all just lifeless, empty, no activity, no life. So all the fancy graphics and effects and detailed towns and buildings and stuff, for the most part mean absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of the gameplay experience. There’s no reason to go to your home or someone else’s place unless you want to take a break or pass through time. There’s no reason to visit a town unless you need to refuel or repair, or the storm’s going through the town. There’s just nothing else to it to keep it lively and active and fresh, and giving you the drive to want to keep playing, because eventually the novelty wears off and you get bored of just doing the same thing over and over. Hence the game is really held back and at the moment is feeling like wasted potential really. And it’s not getting updates or news posts or anything frequently enough to keep a consistent community for it either. So if you ask me, if it was just to take something like how Twisted is like and how OutBrk is going to be like, and just apply it into Storm Chasers, it could be a killer of a weather game right now. But in its current state, it’s got an insane amount of potential right in front of it and it’s painful to see it not actually being taken advantage of yet, whether it’s too slow on updates, or just not wanting to take it to that direction, whatever it is. It really could be a S tier game if it wanted to and was brought to that point though.
Yes I agree 100%. All the aspects of realistic storm chasing that you listed should definitely be added, but that would add extra development time, but still if a game adds that, It will take a very long time to get boring (which is a good thing).
Yeah, storm trackers remastered has quite a few players who cry and nitpick how you play. It’s not like it’s an rp server. It’s an experience! So if you have a problem with how I play, you can either POLITELY tell me to not do something or just simply ignore me.

Putting a game that hasn't even released yet at the time was a poor idea. Outbrk turned out to be quite bad with tons of bugs, optimization issues and the insane price tag. Tornadoes also look laughably bad at times, but the biggest issue is the lack of procedural storm generation. They only prepared some pre-made storms so none of them are unique, meanwhile a Roblox game made by two dudes has procedurally generated weather. Maybe I'll repurchase it one day if it gets any better

While yes, Twisted is an S-tier game not gonna lie, its potential is being hampered by Roblox's technical limitations such as its server's memory limit.
With 1.21 on the horizon, everything in Twisted might change as there would be better optimization.
However, the true potential of Twisted would only be limitless once Roblox would get their act together and care for the community by increasing memory cap of their servers as well as optimizing their engine, instead of "appeasing investors" and making short-sighted decisions.

Twisted is the best storm chasing game i ve ever seen
As someone who played GMSC (Garry's Mod Storm Chasers) for the better part of a decade since 2014 when the community was still just exiting its early days and going into what could be best described as it's 'Silver Years' (as it's Golden years were when the original servers were running and new maps were a regular) this is both understandable and objective at the same time.
Had it been about 6 years ago, the community was massively thriving since new add-ons allowed better tools and vehicles and people outside the original devs were making their own maps along with the gDisasters addon expanding that some.
But in recent years, it's become heavily bland. Given the limits to Gmod itself restricting maps, game sessions falling far off the actual storm chasing, and general creativity being lost from everyone building their own custom styles to being repeated 3D models that all look the same over time. It's less storm chasing and just 'sandbox, but with occasional tornadoes causing problems' and even that can be turned off.
I and many do agree that if Storm Chasers ever got updated for mod compatibility or even a way to give it a Gmod style sandbox mode, it would undoubtedly be THE chase game to fill in several missing pieces.

In my honest opinion, I feel like Garry's Mod such be at least A Tier, solidly for me. There's been a really long history of different tornado and storm chasing related add-ons that've been released to the Steam workshop that've made me enjoy them so much that it's so much fun chasing tornadoes in an old sandbox game that is actually older then some teenagers that play it today. Personally for me it's been a blast playing with those tornado related add-ons and it was ultimately part of my childhood because I've known that sandbox game for at least a decade now as of 2024. I'm one of the developers of XTwisters Classic and XTwisters 2 which by the way thank you so much for mentioning our add-on. XTwisters is more towards the "realistic" side and boundaries of Garry's Mod. I will say this one complaint of mine about Garry's Mod, the source for it is EXTREMELY outdated and it hasn't been having updates for years now because the original developer of Garry's Mod has moved on to doing a 'better' sandbox game from what I've heard of. But anyways, enough of my rambling, just sometimes people may have their own opinions. I feel like Garry's Mod should've gotten more appreciation and loading a sandbox map needs patience as well. So here's my opinion, read if you wanna, I'm not forcing you to. :)
I agree with you man. Maybe I have should it B+ tier. Because after configuring everything and installing the right mods, it is really nice. I just put in at the C tier because i feel like people won’t understand how to find the right maps and use the steam workshop correctly.

i think now helicity is right behind twisted since the 1.21 update made the game addicting for example theres 10 variants of the tif 2 (2008,2009,2010,2012,ect) and new vehicles and customization like the suspension and repairable damage (not visual yet). So in short helicity is gonna be right behind twisted

Honestly, in my opinion twisted needs to be a actual game. Not just on Roblox. On Roblox you have a memory cap, lag, etc. If this was a actual game they could do so much more. Just imagine the potential if twisted was its own game. As well as helicity. Also to note that evn if they were to release it make it on console. I couldn't tell you how many people who love the weather and play on console.

I remember a game back in the 2000s that you had to download through a website, and man, was it a blast. Just destroying city after city, tearing buildings apart. I can't for the life of me find it again, and no game compares to it.
