stock sprocket for 250SL same as KLX 250 which is 14 tooth front & 42 tooth rear. for on road use , just change the front to 15 tooth. your top speed will be slightly higher, your rpm will be slightly lower and your fuel consumption will be much more better.

I've own one before, a 250SL..but, sadly i let it go cause im a tall person and bike look pretty small for me, so now I'm with the ninja 250.. it a nice bike if you using it in the city, good pickup and mid range power, plus...an easy ride experience for even a newbie =D

Actually yes, thx to it parallel twin, but sl won the pickup and midrange hands down, if you are 173 then i suggest go for se..about the top speed i manage to get 170 on my se model, 160 on my sl, so not much diffrent at all..

Tires play a huge role in the handling and feel of the bike, if you are not happy with the current tires, you can opt to change them for either sport ones or maybe sport touring ones. Sport ones generally last shorter than touring. All modifications is to your own personal choice/taste. If you want a louder sound, you may consider changing exhaust, or if you want a better pick up or cruising speed, you can opt to minor changes on the sprocket.. The value of it is for your own self.. This 250sl nakesd meter are reading same like car..so it is accurate...my friend own this bike and his said that the bike meter accurate same to er6 ....so dont ask so many question about meter reading, z250sl is accurate same like car..unless u are using kapchai meter which is auta meter like Lc135, ninja rr150...
It's a great insight for me. I noticed that you down-shifted to reach the lower gear scream (In this case it's 2nd gear's top speed which is 78.) Is there any particular reason why you did that? I know that we need to throttle hard on 2nd-4th gear, but that's all I know. Can you teach me more? Thank you;)
Normally I won't do such things, only did it to try for a full acceleration, the proper way should be to start from a standing / stopped position and go, but I can't do that (fully stop) while on the highway. I don't recommend red lining your engine at every gear all the time. I only did it for test run purposes. :)
Mm, I see. I red line sometimes as if it's a new bike. I heard you need to keep the ECU read your fuel mapping, that's why I keep from letting my bike run sluggishly as possible. But thanks for the insight;)
did gps on ninja 250 2013 model, diffrence 5km/h, eg gps 105kmh speedo 110...on a single test...may be need to perform more tests...for this model not sure, I believe shud be almost like ninja's..
Going from a 150 to 250, I would say there wouldn't be any huge/major difference, a little more "oomph" power, if you have the license how about going to a 650/600 instead. Like XJ6/CB650F/ER6/etc. If you have the budget for it.

If you are always riding at top speed, then yes, that would be a loss. This is already close to the red line, and there's the engine limiter, if you listen closely you can hear it hitting the limiters at around 10.5k/11k RPM. Fairings give you better ergo and aerodynamics, could be a factor.

The bike is fine to start with. I'm not sure what other bikes are available, but if you get the used Ninja 250R / Z250 should be below MYR 20K, for new bikes, KTM RC200 looks nice but I think the top speed is lower. Try checking out the Taiwan brand bikes like Sym for example.

Airyl Hakeem Hi bro, in terms of price and since you want top speed, i recommend the Naza Blade 650R, its got great looks, the engine straight out of a Suzuki SV650, maintenance is normal if you take care of the bike well, great top speed (245 is a normal top speed for it and some have gone even faster) and its just great value for money! Spare parts are not that hard to find either =) Good Luck!

As with any old bike, depending on how it was maintained, you will need to address any possible issues either from neglect, or wear and tear. I don't know much about this bike, can probably survey through ZXrians group/forum for more information.
between this bike and naza n5. which one is better, on your opinion. Price wise, naza more cheaper than z250 sl, 3k cheaper than kawasaki. kindly advice interm of performances or spare part.
I've never tested the N5, so I can't comment about that bike compared with the SL. A re-badged bike against a Japanese brand bike (but assembled in Thailand), in terms of performance and spare parts, I think Kawasaki would have the better deal.

Izhar ISTAR hi there, i am an owner of a Naza Blade GT250R for almost a year and my opinion would go to the N5. Yes i am not using an N5 but on terms of Naza spare parts etc i've been impressed with the improvements. Plenty of workshops have after market Naza parts. On terms of Value for money i would go with a Naza 250 GTR any day, if you like fairing in the 250 class i recommend the Naza Blade. With the V-twin sound, great looks of a big bike and a cheap price, my choice is the Naza Blade. Plus I've never been overtaken by a Ninja 250 when it comes to high speed riding if you like that sort of thing ;) Hope I helped you in choosing =) Good Luck!

It was the same setup, no changes, but manage to get a slightly higher speed than previous. The bike was 100% standard as it is a test bike not personal one. I can't recall the amount of engine oil needed but it shouldn't be too much since it's a single cylinder. You can check with the sales person at the bike shop.

The Z250SL is a single piston engine while the Z250 is a parallel twin engine, in terms of power the Z250 will have slightly more, if you can afford it, you can go with the Z250, in terms of enjoying the ride, both are fun to ride. Unless you plan to get a bigger bike shortly after that, then getting the cheaper Z250SL to use for a while and sell it to upgrade is a good idea since it costs less and lose less money on the resale.
Man... smart drivers there in Malasya abuse too much their little engines. From the speed you passed by them they must be going 120 or 130km. Could you give me some advise? I was thinking of getting a 250cc cruiser but besides manouverebility and top speed does a naked like your kawasaki as much better acceleration? Must have even better fuel comsumption too, you got 6 speeds while all 250cc cruisers I checked have 5.
Driving at 120-130 km/h nowadays is actually pretty normal for current engines. I'm not familiar with 250cc cruiser motorcycles, for 250cc naked or faired bikes, the parallel twin ones would have a stronger acceleration than the single cylinder ones, but 4 strokes will always lose out to 2 strokes in term of acceleration. 250cc bikes generally have quite good fuel economy, unless you are always riding at the red line/limit of the engine. If not mistaken, the naked ones should also be somewhat lighter than cruiser bikes, giving it easier handling and acceleration.
The true top speed of bike should not be much difference from the meter reading, my guess is a tolerance of roughly 5-10km/h. Fuel consumption is quite good, I don't have the exact figures at this moment.
The 4x4 was going slower, that's why I could catch up to it, but had to slow down once I caught up to the vehicle, if it wasn't in the way I could have continued pushing the top speed.
135 is more realistic for a bike that size without modifications. All these small bike tests are exaggerated. The Kawasaki is faster with better acceleration than the equivalent Honda.
For it's class as a single 250cc, I'd say I would be satisfied with it. It doesn't have as much top end as I am used to, but it does have pretty good low/mid punch in acceleration. For anyone looking to get an affordable 250cc this would be a strong contender.

For the top speed run, I was in a tucked position to minimise wind drag. If it's shaking during cornering, maybe the suspension is too soft or the road surface is uneven. If you are not of the average weight (too light or heavy) the suspension setting might not be suitable for you. The suspension on this bike cannot be adjusted if not mistaken. Also check that your tire pressure is that the correct levels.

Full tank mileage yet to be fully tested.. For hard riding (acceleration and full throttle) estimated at the moment to be roughly 180-190km range per tank. Normal riding mileage not tested yet.
Im using ninja rr150 so i know my meter is auta...if i speed at 190kmh and this naked 250Sl only 150-160kmh...peace no war...but i love my rr because its much more faster than this naked or any 250cc 4 stroke...but my meter only tipu hehe..

Silent exhaust? Akrapovic I guess. They are usually more quiet on low RPM and only start to make noise when the RPM climb.. Nice bike by the way. :)

I would not say the speed is 100% accurate, but it shouldn't be too far off. No GPS to strap onto the bike, maybe next time.

162 in spedometer but i believe actual speed according to gps is still nering 150 maybe about 147kmh
Meter reading may be off true speed, but I don't think it's off by that much.

If not mistaken, I think those sounds are vibration of the camera within it's housing.

The true top speed of bike should not be much difference from the meter reading, my guess is a tolerance of roughly 5-10km/h. Fuel consumption is quite good, I don't have the exact figures at this moment.

Don't do hard accelerations, cruising at decent speed, don't full throttle.. Ride gentle and smooth will be good for fuel consumption.
How much trip for changing new eo and filter oil.. how much trip for full service engine 50k++?
Those questions would be better addressed to Z250SL owner groups, I don't own one, so I can't say how much it costs.

The 4x4 was going slower, that's why I could catch up to it, but had to slow down once I caught up to the vehicle, if it wasn't in the way I could have continued pushing the top speed.

135 is more realistic for a bike that size without modifications. All these small bike tests are exaggerated. The Kawasaki is faster with better acceleration than the equivalent Honda.
Sometimes the meter readings tend to be a bit inaccurate
shud be compared with cbr 250, if not mistaken HP is higher than cbr, T2 smell smoke la...hehe

For it's class as a single 250cc, I'd say I would be satisfied with it. It doesn't have as much top end as I am used to, but it does have pretty good low/mid punch in acceleration. For anyone looking to get an affordable 250cc this would be a strong contender.

For the top speed run, I was in a tucked position to minimise wind drag. If it's shaking during cornering, maybe the suspension is too soft or the road surface is uneven. If you are not of the average weight (too light or heavy) the suspension setting might not be suitable for you. The suspension on this bike cannot be adjusted if not mistaken. Also check that your tire pressure is that the correct levels.

Purposely downshifted in the beginning, and waited till the rev limit hit to up shift to try and push for a top speed. Don't normally ride like that.

Full tank mileage yet to be fully tested.. For hard riding (acceleration and full throttle) estimated at the moment to be roughly 180-190km range per tank. Normal riding mileage not tested yet.

Im using ninja rr150 so i know my meter is auta...if i speed at 190kmh and this naked 250Sl only 150-160kmh...peace no war...but i love my rr because its much more faster than this naked or any 250cc 4 stroke...but my meter only tipu hehe..
