After the ten minute mark i felt like i was just listening to oxbox on a roadtrip
I do imagine that it is a reasonable facsimile. Also I love how the title of the video has 'race' and not race.
Only one thing is missing - the particle cannon with which all other cars on the road shall be obliterated.
Now we need a Desert Bus version for my next roadtrip...
has anyone suggested Twisted Metal to Jane yet?
I just thought of something.... At the beginning of the video Jane asked "What do they call this kind of truck in the States?". I would call it a Volvo... IE something that probably doesn't get imported from Germany very often. We only have about 20 manufacturers in the US. Mack, White, Kenworth... well it's a long list.
Poor Jane. Being punished for her sins. All that human experimentation wasn't going to end well.
Yeah I get it. I ran an underground genetic experimentation ring back in 89’, one of the subjects gained enough intelligence that led to an uprising.
I dunno.. seemed to end pretty well for her! But yeah... probably not so much for everyone else.
I thought she did pretty good for someone who doesn’t seem to play/like racing games
As a German all I ever wanted to hear was Jane struggling with my first language.

Mike would have been about as nervous as Ellen was when killing Hippos. IE, shifting from nervous to "show off mode".

One day, Jane is going to get a challenge designed specifically for her.
But not today.
Nor this year.
Probably not next year either, to be honest.
She got to do murder in The Sims, which is exactly her type of challenge. And yet she failed at it.
I don't think anyone's made a game where you can create your own genetically modified killing machine.
Yet.
And if anyone HAS made such a game, DON'T! For the love of GOD! Don't tell Jane about it.
I think something like that does exist... I KNOW it does if the Pandemic series counts.

My new favourite Christmas tradition is hearing Jane trying to pronounce "Nürburgring"...
I love that they decided to ignore Jane running off the track just before she hit the two minute mark, just because she kept driving before Andy could have her switch camera views haha. You go Jane, you deserve a point for that long lap!!

Yeah at around the 4 and a half minute mark of the video you can hear the sound effects and see the camera shake from her going off the track.

2-1/2 yrs after this video, I happened to be listening to it as I drove my big rig down the road away from Las Vegas (fortunately in dry weather), when all of a sudden they start discussing various animals in racing vehicles. Right as Jane says, "A cat would be great!" my cat jumps onto the dashboard, immediately obscuring about 1/3 of my view. I laughed so hard I almost ran off the road. 😂
Jane's reaction to trucks is how Forza players feel about trucks in the game as well. She's more in touch than she's letting on.
Could we get future episodes of Animal car-related trivia with Mike? This premiere episode will be kinda hard to find later on due to the misleading title.
Well there is Outsidexbox and Outside Xtra so maybe like Outside Auto? Could be a racing themed OX channel? Mike as the host and bring in 1 guest co-host each episode and do a short Lets Play of a racing game with a Trivia game at the end to challenge the guest.
Punishment for all of Jane's misdeeds. She gets this challenge every year it seems.
Treat loaned elves like you'd treat a national park--take only pictures, leave only footprints.
You shouldn't step on loaned elves
You can't just loan Jane elves and expect her not to trample on them.

This feels awful lot like a driving exam. Come off the track and you fail the test. :D

I guess the aspect that felt like a driving exam was having someone sit next to you and watch your every move, so you can't make any mistakes and get nervous about it.
the exact moment it happened, I knew Mike would have called the Ricardo Zonta overtake!
Kudos to the OXBox team for restaging such epic overtake!
I really like that each competitor has a group with them to help and cheer them on. The competitiveness comes out between challenges, not during them.

Baby driver was immediately car chase and a good one too
This gives me "highway traffic" flashbacks: a bunch of trucks trying to overtake the other when they're going only slightly faster than the other...
My brain hurts trying to comprehend all the movies Mike hasn't seen because they weren't immediately a car chase. The Pianist? Not immediately a car chase. The Godfather? Also not immediately a car chase. Bulleit? One of the best car chases in cinematic history, but it's not IMMEDIATELY a car chase.

This was the first outside Xbox video I fell asleep during
I learn something from Jane's driving skills. Slow and Safe mostly on corners will take you safely on finish lap.
Me right after I got home from work: "Oh, a new Christmas challenge. These are pretty short. I'll watch it while I make a quick dinner."
17 minutes later: "Fuuuuuuckkkkkk, WATCH THAT CORNER, JANE! .....wait....Why do I smell smoke? Oh....my dinner is burning.... But at least Jane got her point..."
I have driven on the Nürburgring Nordschleife road in Gran Turismo 4. That road is bloody long and they've made Jane drive a truck along that road in the rain. Mike, you sadistic freak of nature! I think Jane has met her rival in hatching evil schemes!!!
But then again, this is coming from the guy who had to fight Iudex Gundyr in Dark Souls 3 with a deprived character. Go figure!!!!

More importantly: at the Nürburgring, I guess. Nuremberg would be the Norisring, an hardly-known temporary street circuit. The distance from the Nürburgring to Nuremberg (German: Nürnberg) is about 400km. They just sound slightly similar. Like Austria and Australia.

Twas 4 days before christmas, not a creature in the night, but a kid on his phone, watching videos alright

As this episode continued I was reminded of the Doctor Who episode ‘Gridlock’. Perhaps the OxBox crew were also children of the motorway...
There was a James Bond book set at the Nurburgring, he had to defend a driver by crashing into the other driver who was trying to attack him. I think Jane would have been a suitable replacement for Bond in that scenario
