If there's one thing I learned from this video, it's that Win Key + L locks your computer. 6:07
Really nice to use in an office environment because you hit the combo and then you can just walk away
@@binaryoverload very true. I work in an office environment and I use it all the time now.
I use this even when i am at home. Alone!!!!
@@friedrich1277 I use it too at home. Alone. And no password on my PC
but im using linux..
A company where you walk in on your first day and your swipe card actually works? Does that even exist?
Josh Cavallo I had to wait a week for my Paxton fob to be activated🤦♂️
they most likely have it prepared before he comes in since his already a confirm staff. so yeah it exists. the main entrance i guess its controlled by the guy whos at the back of the Reception
I’ve had campuses I’ve been on where it works straight away providing you complied with all their information requests ie id for police checks.
Hope it must be preactivated visitor access card... :)
Its called "good management". Having a card or an Rfid tag working depends on you having done a good job with the installation of the different cells, know what you're doing and that you test the tags before deployment. Its quite standard assuming your boss payed for a proper version of the security system.
its satisficing to see them everytime they leave their desk pressing Win key + L
happy to see that creed has joined the team
Thank you for this, Im starting as a SDM soon, so was great to see!
I love the continuation with the overnight engineer!
Look at how big and open the commercial office is compared to the NOC office. It's absolutely the stereotypical nerds in basement stuff. Don't have enough room to sneeze in the NOC
I sure hope drives where all SSD based on the unit rolled out. Funny enough Yahoo back in the day moving servers across a parking lot lost lots of data and drives due to vibrations on the asphalt. I assume it’s all SSD drives but it makes me think of that case.
Still don’t know why I watch these but they addicting
Comfortably boring
@@totoroid Im watching while sat in a data centre doing basically the same job lol
@@joedixon1077 same here ...but during a rest period
I love your work environment. And team work.
Thank you :) keep going
Loving the content guys!!
Excellent video . Good to see what goes on in a DC
Heaven for the networking people❤️
Electricity: exists
Servers: peace was never an option
Brilliant Ash, welldone son
we're 90 seconds in and most of what we've talked about has been breakfast. I might love Ash even more than Raf.
I am Senior Oracle and SQL Server DBA and enjoy watching Ash videos :) I am your new Subscriber :)
Awesome video, loved the other one too.
64 amps at 220 volts? Would like to see the powerbill on these things.
14kva is a sizable power bill, haha.
This job looks interesting
0:35 the single most detailed explanation of how the light works
Keep them videos coming!
my wall paper matches with you guys
his wallet stuck to his jeans via a chain. There is proof that this is a proper IT expert! 10 or 10 that I will trust him with my passwords/data :)
Lmao good point !
😅
Where did you see that?
why does that mean his an it expert?
@@KaesOner cuz he won't have his wallet stolen when the wallet inspector asks to take a look at it
Cool environment
"Battery room" For when you need to really crush those bugs ;)
Cool.😎
The manager doing the grunt work is crazy to me, in the states the new guy is the one that would be doing the physical work like helping the users move stuff not the manager.
t's not really a manager position. He doesn't actually manage a team or is in a leadership position. Like many places, the manager is just part of the title to make it sound more impressive but its just a bog standard role within this NOC (and a number of other companies in the UK). He's not an actual manager by any means
In the hallway at @3:30 what are those brackets along the top of the wall? Are they for temp/emer cablings?
Cody Darst they are for the television studio side of the building to run camera cables between studio and production suites
really interesting
Ash is energetic 😊
6:48 - I have that exact same french press
I would like work in a data centre 😊
HHEEYY they hired a old guy, i still have a chance lol
I'm a student taking Network Administration and hoping that i can learn something on this. 💕
best thing to do to get experience is get your ccna, and look for a job as a Jr engineer at a value add reseller. Its fast pace work, but if you stick it out, in one year you will learn more than a guy working 5 years at a single company. Then you can choose to either leave for more money at a company, or do what I did and stay to gain even better knowledge.
Without ASH this channel would be nothing... i hate it when other people film... let ash do the talking, he nails it!
Shutup all are good
What salary could i expect as an NOC engineer? And do they need to be graduated engineers?
pittance
people who do the actual job sit in crammed room with no windows, bosses sit in well lit office spaces. classy.
Since it is the NOC it actually makes sense for a room like this. They have so many screens on the wall that any light on them would just be bad. And They seem to run around in the Building alot aswell and a datacenter is windowless most of the time
Lighting yes, but even more importantly, security. Compliance with security policy, guidelines and contractual requirements usually prohibits windows in such locations, especially if you have customers in government, financial, healthcare, etc. And ofcourse it's a compact space, so was every monitoring room that ever was. That's efficient (team working) and it's best practice.
What do you suggest Marcus? Sit in the car park?
In the data centre i work at the NOC team are not allowed to eat in the good, well furnished lunch room with all the commercial/business team. They have to eat in a designated sub-par lunch room with cheap appliances and no windows.
I was in the middle of upgrading my Xen Server Orchestra VM to Debian 10 when I heard what sounded like a gun shot. Scared the crap out of me. Thankfully I wasn't at work. I did see the text that said it wasn't a gun shot. Would be interesting to find out what it was though. One can only guess a few things including something heavy falling to the floor.
Joshua Meunier nothing like XCP my friend. Glad to see another brother in the race.
The door slammed, that’s what made the sound.
What is a big enterprise like yourselves using a small business PBX like 3CX for (5:54)?
can they not?
Why do you guys have barking dogs and shooting guns in the DC?
what headsets are those at 01:55?
Peter Soule Jabra wireless headset. Not sure exact model.
@@jordanjames4182 Jabra Evolve 65 IIRC, they are bluetooth. Some people have issues with them.
I have the Jabra Engage 75 Stereo which is DECT Based (the Dock has Bluetooth though), and its very reliable.
Tail gating :)
he scanned lol
8:33 'high speck calculations' -_-
SDM in India behave as they are the CEO or CIO of the company...Mr Raghupathy watch this video.....😂😂
Nikhil Ram which company bro??telecom sector?
You guys hiring?
But how much they pay ???
Is Denis from Russia or other slav east Europe country?
can i apply here as a trainee? haha
4:18 the door code is 4321#
One person, many hats, NOC manager, NOC on duty, Site n facilities, HR, logistics and SDM! Is this really working?
It's a small NOC so bit easier to manage. A lot more people report to the SDM to get these jobs done. I've seen 150 heads under a SDM. So yes it's a big responsibility and a tiring job.
It's not really a manager position. He doesn't actually manage a team or is in a leadership position.
