When I was a kid (in the 60's) my brother would take me along with his buddy who ran his '69 428CJ Mach 1 at U.S. 131 Dragway. We saw the Cobra race on multiple Sat. nights. It won every race with no challengers coming close! Ahh . . . the good old days.
Hi 351 Charlie, FUN times :-) Thank you for viewing & sharing. Hope you see many more cars on this RUclips Channel you enjoy. Please subscribe, and hit the "bell" so you can see all the cars when they are uploaded on this RUclips Channel, Lou
Hi Carl, I'm scheduled to visit Carlisle PA this year in July 14th & 15th for the Chrysler Nationals (& Hurst / Olds Nationals too) Glad you were able to see your car again :-) Lou
Hi Ikeytoo, Lou Costabile failed to feature the " specialty " gear shift of CSX - 3159. What brand was that shifter. Was it a Hurst? Camera panned too fast for me to read. My eyes aren't all that great anymore too.
That's exactly what I looked for too, as Shelby often tried to change to identity of the cars. It has the original radiator that was made in London and also the correct British Smiths gauges. I'd like to have seen AC's manufacturer's plate to make sure it's real, as without that it's a fake... This looks like a real car though and i'm sure it'll be there. All the kit cars emulate the AC Cobra.
I was fortunate enough to view this car in Cincinnati earlier this year and decided to see if there was anything on youtube featuring it after going through some of my photos. Of course it's on your channel. As always top notch content.
Hi Dane Hawes, Glad you were able to see this one in person. Thank you for the very kind comment regarding bringing top notch content :-) It's my pleasure, Lou
Lou Costabile again, my apologies. Don't know what possessed me to be so smarmy and sarcastic. I've seen this car myself about 10 yrs ago-wonderful historic Cobra.
I love the smell of racing fuel in the morning. The King reminds me of The King Speed Shop logo,in Lansing,IL.They also built and sponsored a number of national record holders, also.
@@loucostabile I could only imagine the thrill of piloting this monster. In '66 I was blessed to cruise in one of these AC's,albeit a lesser 289 version a racing friend owned.I owned a '64 GTO at that time and swapped rides for a couple hours from a now defunct drive-in called Sammy's.It waslike driving a go-cart,awesome handling and power.I always wondered if he was as worried about his car as I was mine,LOL.This was not an uncommon practice back then between good friends, tho.I was looking very seriously at a '64 XKE Jag at $1,000 more, before i settled for my GTO.You could say I blew it,but the Goat provided me with much excitement.
Lou Costabile I drove this car one time, the original owner was a friend of mine.we both lived in New Jersey ,it was a long time ago and I will always remember this car before it's drag racing days.its great to see it preserved.
Yes sir folks, stay tuned. We are actually going to start this thing. Please. Probably the only joy this rich guy gets out of this car is wiping the dust off every few days.
Odd to see , It IS a Street Version NOT a Competition version , it has Side pipes as well as Under car Exhaust ... Ash tray , Glove compartment too , which ONLY the Street 427 Cobras had . It Is CSX3159 Delivered to Larsen Ford in New York Must have been modified from a Street Version 427 . Cool Car though With the FIA Wheels . Odd also that it has NO Roll Bar Same as the Street 427 Cobras . That hardtop would not fit over a Roll bar anyway .

Hi Jonathan Halsey, Yes, when you're at a live cars show vs a controlled environment it's going to get loud. You do the best you can do, with what you have, when you can, where you can, and this is the result. Hope you see many more cars on this RUclips Channel you'll enjoy, Lou

Yes, pretty cool, thanks for catching that detail, Louj
