Welcome Dawn Edwards of Felt So Right!
Marie and Dawn are together in the studio filming a course for the International Felt Maker's Association. Their three-part series "Sampling for Success" tasks them with creating 1 oz sample vessels over a 7 inch resist.
In this video, Dawn Edwards of Felt So Right demonstrates how to create the cracked mud technique on her sample vessel. The cracked mud adds texture and visual interest to the vessel and makes a striking impression on a small piece.
The full Sampling for Success series with additional video content and wet felting resist templates is available on FeltingTutorials.com: feltingtutorials.com/course/s...

Take away: there are different techniques to felting, it is the end result that matters.
Very excited to use the silk paper I recently made, which was inspired by Wyoming sunsets. These would be a lovely house warming welcome gift to new neighbors moving into a neighborhood.
This is what I have been wanting to try! I want to make this today instead of cleaning for weekend company!!
I watched the last one and I'm loving thesis videos!! Thanks so much for doing these!
Love the added silky paper!
Fun video! Always hate to miss the lives bc of work, but love Dawn's creations so much! Take away on this one for me is seeing how the resist is used in the cracked mud technique and how to cut out and trim the piece! Thanks so much for a fun video!
I have loved both of these tutorials and differing styles, thanks so much ladies
I saw that video I’ve been looking forward to this one. How very unique.
I enjoyed this so much. Ideas are swimming around my head! Thanks!
Thank you, Dawn! Such a beautiful piece! I can’t wait to try this. Interesting the 2 diff styles of felting.
It was great to see the various methods as well as some ways to fix things if needed. The series has given me some great ideas. Now off to learn to make silk paper so that I can do the project this weekend.
I'm excited to learn this process ❤️❤️
What a fascinating process! I can't wait to give it a try. This was such a good prompt for so many different ideas. Thanks!
This is absolutely beautiful 😍 I signed up for the class on felting tutorials so excited to make my own cracked mud vessel
Love this cracked mud video, thanks Dawn👌
Thanks so much!! I really want to try a vessel!! I will let you see mine when it's done. I think I'll start simple with the friendship one, or maybe not. LOL. I'll see what mischief I can get into. 🙂
I am looking forward to trying this. The small size is great for a first time project.
so nice of the 2 of you to share these
That is really great such a nice piece.
Wow, so not what I expected! I thought we would be cutting out prefelt to create that effect. I love to see how these are done💜
This was so interesting and informative. There are so many color combinations that I can’t make up my mind, at least right now! Thanks! So fun.
It's not the method.
It's the madness!
Love it! I can see it as lava flowing from a volcano.
Thank you! It's beautiful!
Thank you so much for sharing this video! I can’t wait to try this!! Favorite takeaway - “it’s the end result”…
the wooden skewer is a good idea to feel where the resist is. i had found the tip of the scissors is not the best palpation tool. thanks for sharing your ideas!!
I always enjoy watching different people wet felt because everyone has their own methods!
I'm looking forward to trying this project and using some of the silk paper that I made a few years ago.
Türkiye İstanbul'dan sevgiler
Teşekkür ederim 🥰👏🌺👍🙏🤗
Awesome can't wait to try this thanks so much
Dawn- You are an excellent teacher and I adore your wonderful personality, thoughtful comments, and gorgeous vessel directions. Thank you so much. That silky paper was fantastic- nearly too pretty to cut. :)
I was looking forward to this! Vicki Bedeian
Love the cracked look and colors in the cracked mud vessel. Really gives a lot of interest to the piece.
Dawn is such a lovely teacher and the vessel is beautiful! I am going to try to use the techniques shown this week on Oui yogurt jars. I hate to throw those out, even for recycling, because they are just so cute. I just have to figure out what size circle resist I’ll need to use.
Thank you so much for showing us the cracked mud method! I can't wait to try that as it looks so fun! Dawn and Marie are awesome! The fairies are too!
Wow, just wow. I absolutely love the outcome but fear I lack in patience and commitment to achieve this. Maybe one day! Brilliant tutorial, thanks for sharing.
Thank you for another great video! Love watching Wooly Wednesday and to get extra videos is amazing!
Love the colors in today’s piece.
love ittt
This has been on my to do list… this is really beautiful… 😍
Thank you so much for sharing this technique Dawn! I'm already on a roll!
Creating silk papers, what fun!
Q belleza ojalá pueda hacerla son geniales las adoro
I saw this on your RUclips channel. I cannot wait to try it. Perhaps today is the day. We’ll see. 🤞🏻
Oooh! I was waiting for this!
This is an interesting process and explained really well!
Thank you. So beautiful
Uygulaması çok zevkli bir teknik🙏😊
Dawn this class was amazing. I learned so many new techniques with you and Marie. I'm off to find the silk paper class. Thank you so much. Silk hankies too, I need to check the Living Felt shop for them.
I am going to watch it again; maybe several times to understand cutting the mudd resist
I've been wanting to try the cracked mud for a while! So glad to see a tutorial on it. I just got ball brause in Novemeber and have used it a few times now. How do you make sure it doesn't mold inside? I keep flashing back to my daughter's gross pool squirt toys. hahaha
i mussed the live will try to catch the next one
I will have look at my stash of silk hankies and sari embellishments. I have some neat yarn also.
so very pretty
That is an interesting technique. I wonder how it would work for scales on a dragon.
Love this technique!! When Dawn mentioned using other embellishments (i.e.: silk hankies) is she using them in place or in addition to the silk paper?
If you wanted the cracked mud to go all the way around the vessel would you are a round cracked mud template and cut the hole in The middle?
I was thinking of using a lime green with dark purple. Can I add viscose to this project?
Will Sari silk work as well?
Was this atrial and error project? How did you come up with this? Vicki Bedeian
I may need to just try it….I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the mud resist piece/cutting it out. The finished project however is gorgeous!
I need to go back and watch how to make silk paper!
my next order will have to try and get the olive oik soap i know it would last me forever does anyone know how it smells ?
Do you take out the cracked resist.
😀
Hmmm... I think I still have some silk paper, I wonder where it is...
She cut silk paper….What is silk paper?
