How to dance Hopak BUT EASIER

- Опубликовано: 23 май 2023
- Welcome to my video! Today I'm going to show you how to dance the Hopak, but a little easier. The Hopak is an energetic dance full of power and joy, whether it's danced at parties or in competitions. But don't worry, even if you're a beginner, with my simpler version you'll easily get into dancing the Hopak!
Hopak is known for its jumps, quick foot movements and synchronization with the music. The basis of this dance is a combination of jumps, kicks, cartwheels and complex hand movements. My simpler version focuses on the basic elements of Hopak so you can learn and improve as you go.
Be sure to warm up with light exercises before you start dancing to get your body ready for the movement. I will then show you step by step the different elements of Hopak dancing and explain how to ease into them.
Please note that Hopak is a dance full of energy and physical activity. If you are uncomfortable or have health limitations, please adapt the exercises to your ability and remember your own safety.
I am excited to introduce this simpler version of Hopak and help you discover the beauty of Slavic folklore. So let's get to it! We'll start with the first step and gradually piece all the elements together.
Used song: Carnaval a moskau

All this time i was doing it wrong because i always warched my leg and not infront of me!Thank tou Comrade Cesko, you're the best dancer i've ever seen and also the best at explaining dance! And the best part is that you do it free, like a real comrade will do!Glory to you comrade!
Sorry wrong comment.

Comrade:in the old movie the "soldier " mimics shooting a rifle, recoil included! Try that next
My orthopedic Dr. appointment is next week.sorry for highjaking your comment.
Lmao American communist are so cringey and stereotypical
GLORY TO PREMIER!
I started training it without proper warmup. 1 minutes of training resulted in 1 week of horrible pain in my legs.
Relatable asf
that’s what is supposed to happen, now restart
Me after dancing to Rasputin on Just Dance 2
Warmup is against injury.
What you experience is Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS).
Basically, you exert a muscle that's not yet accustomed to exercice, and it gets sore. Get back to it.
I landed on my toe once and it hurt for like a month straight lmao
I should have been sleeping like, 4 hours ago. But here I am watching a professional dancer teaching me kazaczok on random street in the middle of nowhere. Amazing
Same
Whenever you are in that situation, always remember you that you aren't alone bro
It's Hopak
Yep.
Cheers ill drink to that
As someone who taught themselves to do this, I have never once warmed up before dancing. And I have distinct memories of my legs not feeling too great for quite a while after doing it a bunch. To anyone who may be reading this, please warm up before dancing, I'm likely pretty lucky that I have managed not to hurt myself.
The same thing happens with me
Challenge accepted
I am also teaching my self to do this, and one good warmup that cesko forgot to include was to kneel on your toes and knees like he showed us to do for straightening your back... but just kick from that position, sliding your feet on the ground. This is much easier on the body than doing the kicks while supporting all of your weight on the toes like you do when actually performing the real dance... but it teaches the correct balance, coordination and leg movement so that once your strength improves enough to do the full dance, you already have tons of experience with its movements.
Me too
same here lmfao
The song, the background, and most important, the lesson, its just what i need.
carnaval a moscou

I do too. Great performance, defying all laws of gravity.
i am fat, very far flom flexy and agile, and my back is very curved. I tried the whole routine and realised that this will help fix all three problems.
Me too Im a little fat for my size my legs are weak and I have a curved back. I started to try this dance out today and I already feel better

I appreciate the transparency and honesty at the end, hope you get your camera soon.
I really enjoyed learning about this dance, and the slow frames for certain parts helped me understand the concepts you were explaining.
THX :D
please help why when i do it does my leg hurt teribly@@cesko4488
I was kinda flexing with it at the prom in my school. I was doing this while going backwards, i was spinning while doin' that, etc. I am a Pole and i think i have a west Slavs blood running in my veins :D
that's the way it should be :D
I first saw this dance when I was a kid. I was shocked. Years later break dancing took America by storm and it was pretty impressive. However, through all of these years this has remained to me the most impressive dance ever. Thank you for the insight!
Break dancing? Someone close to my age! This dance looks fun and I always wanted to try it. Not sure if my knees will hang...
@@ananda_miaoyin lol I was going to say if we are close in age we will both have to enjoy these dances from the sidelines!
@@anaximander66 how old are you? I saw a 76 year old doing this dance very well!
@@lysetsfyrste I'm not that old yet but it sounds like I'm bodily older than that 76 year old!
The previous times I've danced the Hopak my knees hurt a lot after, now I know why, I wasn't doing any warmups, (I'm stupid) thank you for the tutorial comerade!!
we are the same :D I suffered like this for 5 months
From personal experience, my knees never hurt, only my calves really hurt

i actually just did some hopak the other day at a party. i was doing the squat jumps, and a person asked “was that you break dancing on the floor?” hahaha
I never realised you were supposed to keep a straight back! I always assumed it would throw off your balance, thank you so much for making this video!
Almost all physical disciplines want a straight back. Keeping the back straight keeps the spinal column strong and stable. What changes is the angle between your straight back and hips.
For dancing, because you are presenting yourself, a straight back is also a vertical back so you show how tall, elegant and powerful you are.
If you're weight lifting, you're focusing on keeping your center of gravity over your feel, and while keeping a straight back, it wont be vertical because you have to bring the bar forward, to keep it's weight centered.
When I first found out about this dance as a child I somehow was able to do it immediately
children are bouncy, note how young children can fall over during play and not actually be hurt that much
True I used to do this dance when I was a kid now I can't do it lol
Children typically don't criticise their own form. They just do. Much of the dance is physical ability, but it is most impacted by mentality.
One of the most beautiful dance in the world, i discovered i can naturally do it by doing it for joke and that let grow in me a genuine interest so i started praticing. This is a dance for true athletes
Everyday, I'm wondering why I ain't watching stuff to get better at my work and stuff... but it's when I'm watching videos likes this that I know why choices were made
It is very nice when foreigners like Ukrainian culture. I admire such people, because I am from Ukraine ❤

For people thats confused: hopak is Kazotsky Kick.
After about 10 months of practicing this using your video, I went from not being able to do this at all, to being able to do this for about 20-25 seconds straight before needing a break. ( of course doing lots of swimming a couple years ago helped strengthen my legs which probably helped) Either way, thank you so much. I will of course continue to become better
I now know what im gonna do at the next thanksgiving dinner
Still the best dance to impress or make laugh your friends
I've always admired this dance; I could do it briefly when I was a young man...many, many years ago!
I started my training today, and as a Brazilian, it would be amazing to do a demonstration to my friends. I will come back as soon as I learn how to do that. Thank you for your video, it really help me 🙏

You cant find these helpful and straightforward guideson youtube, not without difficulty. keep up this good work!
It says a lot about the quality of the content that I didn't notice the supposedly sub-par video quality you mention at the end. excellent work!
This dance looks so fun! I was doing it wrong last time so thank you for showing this easy way. I can learn it properly now!
Did this at an end of year celebration at school where everyone was going down the line showing off their own dance.
I forgot that this was going to happen and I was wearing jeans and did not have time to warm up ☠
This is the only dance I can do well, I had nothing else prepared
I dunno what's funnier. The fact you forgot the dance part & wore jeans....Or the fact that you only able to dance while every other parts of celebration were bad.....Or the fact that I read this as if you're in theatre group for school celebration with a dancing as the final.....Or the fact that I had to reread again to understand that you said that you only able to do this dance as you forgot the final. 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈
Дякую for the fantastic tips! This is so helpful! My issue is that I kick but then can't get my foot back under myself without jumping up significantly Not sure why. Nevertheless your video helped! Thank you for extending and expressing culture in such a funny and cool way, it really helps me!:D
I was trying to go step by step and was making slow progress, but then we got to straighten your back and look forward and that was a game changer, thanks for the advice!
this video was my sign to start learning the Hopak danc, thank you for the lesson 💖
Thanks for the tip about looking forward/slightly up. That made a big difference! My dance is much improved with the stretches as well.
Дуже дякую/большое спасибо!!!

Day 2 of learning this dance. My hole body is covered in sweat and my legs are so much in pain. This dance is no joke. Its the hardest workout if ever done. Thank you for your toturial 🤌
In the quiet solitude of my room, I discovered a mesmerizing dance move on the vast expanse of the internet. Entranced by its fluidity and grace, I made a silent vow to incorporate it into my daily life. With determination as my compass, I embarked on a journey of self-expression, meticulously studying videos and practicing tirelessly until each movement became second nature. As I navigated the hallways of my high school, a newfound confidence emanated from me, silently speaking volumes of the transformative power of art. Through the rhythm of dance, I found a voice, a means to navigate the complexities of my inner world with clarity and purpose, reminding us all of the profound impact a single moment of inspiration can have on the trajectory of our lives.
Just the warmup is really hard for me right now, but that shows it’s being taught right, should be intensive! Very good video
Thank you sir
I rarely turn off adblock for videos and you are one of them.
Greetings from Bohemia!
One of the best advice/tips I have received in the entire year so far, just like that.

big thanks for creating this video, i trained for this dance in 2 month and still can't go past 5 seconds yet
Great video. Awesome technic.
It's a shame that most people think of this dance as russian. It's not.
I’ve been training for 6 months now, thank you so much!
I was just looking for music but now I found something golden
Thank you for this tutorial! You made clear points and had easy to follow, simple instructions and showed them accordingly. I always wanted to learn this dance but i never knew how i should start (I always thought you need to practice since childhood or you cant do it). I was looking for some new workout practices anyway, so this came in handy! Hopefully i will impress my freinds or slav relatives at future parties with this :D

Hopak is a traditional Ukrainian folk dance of Zaporizhzhya origin. The name of the dance comes from the cry "hop!" during its execution
