Fair comment, that. In NZ, but most likely not over there -and yes, they are very destructive environmentally. It's great that the Fiji govt is so vigilant. Are u a keen fisherman? Perhaps bonus protein that way? I remember you're into spear fishing, from your Suva window shopping.

only raw chicken. I hear rabbits can be a good source of home-grown meat [in cages fed, as they burrow]. fast breeders + growers, lean meat ... espec suit smaller rural.
I'm not sure. I don't think rabbits are native to Taveuni and Biosecurity may frown upon that. The mongoose hasn't made it to Taveuni, but has decimated native populations of birds on Vanua Levu and Viti. R.e. rabbits 🐇 i think you'd need to do more research and certainly consult with the authorities. The Cane Toad made it here and out competes and even preys on the native frogs.

So your question is, would your Midland's friends be able to retire to Fiji and join you? The most common resident permit in this case is Assured income. The rules and regulations change frequently without much consultation so going to the Fijian government website is suggested. If you purchase land or property then the process is much easier, but you still need to show funds to support yourself for 3 year periods at a time. At the end of the day, people retiring here are being new money, which goes into the economy so it has been encouraged. I know the UK has tightened the threshold of people migrating there, so if Fijian citizens are also applied to the new thresholds then they sometimes do like for like and make it harder. I would recommend looking at the government website for latest requirements and also emailing Siohban @Findyourfeetfiji or just looking at her website. She will have the latest requirements. You can also instruct a lawyer to complete the process for you, I think it is about $2000FJ dollar per person. We did all our own applications online. Dogs are carnivores [protein/anything that moves]: this [carbohydrate/plant based] crap dog biscuit is "made for profit", not animal health. we feed our dog chicken drumsticks. Dog biscuit Allergies + Pot belly now gone, looking good now. Pity u can't grow your own meat, eh?
My GSD use to have a largely raw diet back in the UK - minced beef was his favourite for 500g, mixed with 250g smoked mackerel all for about £3. Here you can't get and even 500g of frozen beef on the bone is the equivalent of £10 and that's without the mackerel. You just do the best with what you have, but agree never dog food from tins and biscuits in moderation 🐶
Kiki catches (and eats) a fair share of wild chicken chicks - all dogs enjoy raw chickens feet here.
