- 4 Weeks ago I performed an experiment where I attempted to camp over night in st ives for less than £10. There was a lot of talk of me getting a fine for this act so today I have returned to the scene to pay my dues.

Kudos to you 👏🏼 I only four years ago had to make use of a food bank to feed myself and my daughter. As a former serving Royal Marine Commando who was homeless for 14 months and later managed to work hard to gain steady employment (over an hours worth of travelling) I had to make use of the Food Bank, I felt embarrassed but the people that run these Food Banks are very welcoming. Very grateful for there support before moving 150 miles north from Worthing to find accommodation more affordable. Three years later I've managed to purchase a camper of my own to see my daughter in Worthing. Life is much better. Brilliant content as always 👏🏼

It’s such a shame that the 10 biggest military charities, that have a combined £1.5bn (yes, billion!) in cash reserves, don’t seem to offer more help to our ex-military citizens. Sorry this is off topic…it’s just annoying seeing ex-service personnel sleeping in door ways, suffering from sincere mental health issues or drug addiction, knowing that there is money donated by public sitting in bank accounts that could be put to use to provide services the shortfall from the state cannot!

I’m in the USA and needed the food bank a couple times this year. 😮 not a great feeling.. but… I was overwhelmed with the love and support from the helpers, that filled me up more than anything.
Good luck to you,it’s ridiculous that people have to live this way these days but it’s nothing to be ashamed of.
The last couple years have been hard on most. My family have also had to use our local food banks occasionally and completely agree about the people who work at them.

I'm crying lol. I found your channel a couple of weeks ago and watched the St Ives. I'm a single full time dad of my 2 teens. It's hard and I have used food banks. I'm OK at the moment, I'm working full time but life can be so tough. Bless your heart mate for bringing this to the table. Stay safe yeah x

I donate free food on the Olio app to people in my community, you may have Olio in your area
We have had to use our local food bank a few times when things were lean. They really are a godsend and the people who volunteer at them are always so kind and helpful. We always make sure to donate back when we can as well.
As someone who donates this is very useful to know... I like to feel that people appreciate it.

Absolute genius mate. What an inspiring thing to do. I despise the “BIG” charities with their overpaid CEO’s. Give to the small local run units and make a real difference.
Nice one Shaun, behind you all the way especially re Airbnb people making a fast buck. Local people are priced out of having their own home because houses, flats etc are used by non locals as a source of easy income.
Food banks are essential to help people survive, brilliant way to pay your non fine!

We always 'wild camped' in the Algarve especially the west coast. Every new years eve we would be completely alone in a car park beside a beach and no fireworks (great for the dogs) sadly its now banned.

great gesture and huge help to those in need. Great to see someone pay up for what was your self-designed 'privilege' and also see you beat the system. I did very similar parking all round Uk and Ireland in my Stealth Van Transit (no windows, no sign of habitation). Parked with impunity overnight in residential roads, car parks, seafronts, market squares, alongside the tram tracks in Lytham St Annes, etc, etc. Just a bed, chest of drawers, 2-ring stove microwave - oh, and the Sat Lav, but that's another story. my tickets go straight in the bin. I already pay a fortune in road tax. Far too many 'stealth taxes' to count. People think this country is relatively free compared to some, but it's freedom within a telephone box. Scotland has it nailed. You can park up anywhere within reason, with no fear of prosecution.
