Music shown: Splintered Espial Eugene McDaniels Suns Of Arqa Triode Et cetera Traffic Paul masse ESP Summer Marcus Valle Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets
Based on your recommendation I was curious and checked out ESP Summer which sent me down a long rabbit hole of discovery about some music and musicians I didn't know about (especially Warren Defever and his project His Name is Alive). Another day, another video, another discovery- thank you!
Hi Dereck I tune in to your channel both for the albums you show and for your commentary on the world Both of which I am glad to listen to and learn from. Traffic has always been a band I have listened to. Played them on my college radio show in the early 1970’s Wishing you well from Vancouver Island on Canada’s West Coast
I'm glad you enjoyed "Headless Heroes of The Apocalypse" it's one of my favorite albums that I own and try to show people as much as I can. No matter how many times I've played it. I still get goosebumps hearing Eugene's soft and tender voice talking about issues that exactly mirror where we are at today. While being INCREDIBLY funky, R.I.P. to the legend Alphonse Mouzon whose drums were phenomenal on that album.
Cheers, Dereck! Glad you enjoyed the Splintered album. Don't think any of us are really into drugs anymore (outside alcohol or the odd smoke), as we're too long in the tooth, but the idea of our trying to reach some kind of altered state with our music might resonate to a degree even if on a subconscious level rather than being intentional. A few of us love Terry Riley, La Monte Young, Tony Conrad, Charlemagne Palestine and so on. Maybe that's in there somewhere. Anyway, appreciate you giving it a listen!
Hi Dereck, hope you are well. Have you heard the new Beth Gibbons album, and if so what are your thoughts? I'm enjoying it, but it took a while to hit me.
If you need anything translated from Portuguese to English just let me know Dereck, Marcus Valle’s last name is pronounced similar to “valley” in português with a short “a” and the e is pronounced a bit like a “y”, but not as long, more cut like vaalee. The song you are thinking of on that album is Samba de Verão which simply means “Summer Samba”, Verão is summer in português.
I hate stupidity most of all, yr comment, stuck on stupid, cracked me up. Sure are a lot of folks in that state. Love Eugene McDaniels for years, have og,s❤
I found that Eugene McDaniels album when I was 16, I'm 41 now and let me tell you... It really taught me a lot about reality.
Nordeste by Marcos Valle is one of my all time fav songs
