Russia had democracy for only 2 years. From 1991 to 1993. That was from the Soviet Collapse until the 1993 constitutional crisis, where the President ordered the army to fire tank shells into the Russian parliament, aka "The Russian White House." That marked the end of democracy in Russia and the beginning of "strong presidencies" [de facto dictatorships] in Russia

I actually knew a couple of Russians who didn't even stand up for their national anthem, considering how unpopular Yeltsin was and standing in a mighty 5 percent approval rating
If Russia gets rid of Putin, I'd like to see this anthem playing again with different lyrics to get rid of the memories of Yeltsin

As a communist i don't like yeltsin and how russia is nowadays, but this song is an exception, it's inspiring and powerfull.
So you accept death
bloody communists you think that to punish one is important and shall not anyways escape punishment and for that its okay if other 100 people have to suffer how evil, also who gave you right to confisticate people hardwork of generations and force people to state enforced slavery aand forced labour, also economic inequality is okay because it can be justified for someone with more intelligence and who is more capable to have more money and power to employ others and help run households state cant just say it is unequal and take something away from someone who worked so hard to rise to that position, and people should have right to vote and freedom of speech and expression communist heavy drinking culture oppresion and starvation of milions to death is not okay communism is just as evil as Nazism as it as a whole has killed way more than nazis and although nazis killed in raicst way so that was worse no doubt in that and Commies killed indiscriminantly , and the Berlin r@pe of German women infornt of their children was so cruel and gross children trying to save their mothers got shot in cold blood mothers watched in horror so ave a shame you communist
When you taste some democracy but then not like it
@Aadarsh Ghosh you are correct. I have read that communism was still quite popular
Communism was popular in every single country at the very first time of economic reforms. Even in Poland in 90s power returned to leftists for some time. But that doesn't mean that we should return to this red shit. In Poland there was shock therapy too and it succeeded as well as in Russia. 90s was difficult time of reforms that later gave boost to Russian economy in 2000s and made Russia one of the most economicaly successful countries in Eastern Europe, among Eastern EU countries. Things went wrong in 2014 after the brother killing war with Ukraine began.
O Russia our home and native land
I hope Russia will get to see true democracy, perhaps even in most Russians' lifetime. Any attempt at democracy so far was killed in its infancy, it's quite sad.
