Because Aichi kept destroying Kai's Legion, Kai was able to keep seeking the mate, returning spare copies of the legion mate and his critical triggers from the drop zone back into the deck, each time making it more and more likely that he would get triggers due to him only returning critical and legion mates
I can definitely see it, and hypothetically, if Kai were to indeed disappear, it would be an epic end for his character. (Not that I dislike Kai of course, but this possibility would be a very interesting one. And who knows, who's to say he would never return. Lol)
I always loved when Aichi fights someone who uses big creatures like Kai because of how cramped the field looks compared to Aichi's own field and units😁
