Ahead of its time and not too dissimilar to something that Paul Rand would have envisaged. Although not "in vogue" during the 90's; his minimalist, modernist influence is currently seeing a resurgence in corporate identity. Examples not only include the current Microsoft logo but Facebook, Domino's or Ebay. Simplicity is key.
They remembered they had this logo.

Flat design is garbage imo. When I got my laptop and turned it on just to face the horrible windows 8 with flat tiles and opaque colors I wanted to throw up, so I "downgraded" to windows 7 ultimate and haven't looked back tbh
To be honest this is much better than any commercial I've seen recently, it's convincing, to the point and it's easy to understand.

You don’t even need that, just put white on it and blue in background and you’re good to go!
Just need an old CRT display that had some completely unnatural colors.
If the tip is round, you'll get a smoother Windows 11.

All things considered this commercial was way ahead of it's time. The blank space art style is huge now, and totally unheard of in 95'

The irony is that Windows 95 is a heck of a lot faster than Windows 11.
It was difficult for Windows 8 computers to do multiple things at a time. Starting with Windows 10, it's easy. Start multitasking. Start Windows 10.

Well, you actually forgot the new Microsoft logo (in which the current logo is based from this commercial) and the company’s current slogan in your Windows 10 version of the Windows ‘95 commercial. I think, it should be like this:

holy shit, they used that icon back in the 90s??? I had no idea. every new logo I think wow what an amazing and innovating way to convey the spirit of the previous logo. capturing the essence in an obscure and minimalised way.

Windows 95 is as old to the date of publishing of this video, as windows 7 is to us and that's mind blowing.
Seriously, if someone were to recreate this with modern Microsoft products it would fit right in with other modern commercials.
Never forget that in one of the first previews of Windows 95, the whole thing just fucking blue-screened in front of a live audience and they had to play it off

By far the best OS to be released by Microsoft along with Windows 98. Very professional. No other OS in the history of the industry revolutionized the game like 95 or 98. Microsoft has lost its way after moving away from XP.
Hopefully Windows 10 goes back to the roots of 95 & 98.
We need standardization, Professionalism and Innovation. Not something that goes in and out with trends. That is what makes an OS timeless.

8 years after this comment, the truth is sadly that Windows is getting worse and worse with hiding more stuff from users, getting more and more bloated, and integrating a crapton of data-sharing programs that you never asked for.

The start screen at the beginning here has always stuck with me. All I can remember is that I was a baby, watching the tv and having this commercial come on. Except the start screen section went on for WAY longer than it should. Just the Windows start screen, with terrifying chanting.
After a talk with my mom about my intrigue with the mysterious Hitogata commercial (I'll admit that it's alot similar to this experience) I've come up with this theory: Since I was born in 2009, this couldn't have come on during that time or later since it's prolly from AT LEAST 1995. I believe I was probably on my iPad with unsupervised youtube access, got reccomended this video, and since from what I've heard, time goes faster the more you get older (since I was a child my perception of time must have been at a snail's pace), the video was like, 40 minutes in my view possibly? The iPad must've been the supposed tv, since I was probably an infant and it was about the size of one for me right now. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

I was old enough to know this was a VERY big deal when Windows 95 was announced and released.
Although my knowledge with computers was soooo low at that time.
I had Windows 3.1.
I wonder if Microsoft allows to customize the Windows startup music. If was possible, i´ve choosed the Windows 95 startup song, because it makes me nostalgic
You could always change your logon sound. Pretty sure there's a way to do the startup sound as well.
