      Now that I certainly didn't know. I've seen a bunch with well over a 100k miles with little to no problems, they're impressive cars these days for sure.

  • @whatevernevermind5960

    The accent is way better than most basic economy cars in my opinion, especially on the inside. Also very reliable and surprisingly nice to drive. Rented one a couple years ago, was quite impressed.

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  6 лет назад +2

      It really is. And treating it like a makeshift entry level rally car was more fun than I'd ever expect. I'd consider one used if I was in need of a beater

  • @anguscooper

    I have a similar car in Australia. I used to have 2 V6 4wds and then fuel prices shot up. I ditch one of the V6, and got this model. It's very economical, simple nd easy to fix. Great economical car during this era of high fuel prices and inflation.

    I bought one of these about a year ago and it hasn't let me down yet. It's super reliable, a little faster than I thought it would be, and the sound system is pretty great despite it not having a giant infotainment system.

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  5 лет назад +2

      I keep thinking about what beater to buy and I keep coming back to a used version of this. It's basic and gets the job done and for what it was and for the price, it really is a good ride. Happy to hear yours is working well for you, and as for the sound system, gut that baby and throw a 5 channel amp in there with a nice 10 inch sub. That's the kind of upgrade I'm all about!
      Thanks for watching bud!

      @@Altek1 The ten inch sub might be my next move.

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  5 лет назад

      @@T1theinfamous I threw a Rockford P1 in my Legend, that baby pumped. With the amp and sub, it was only like $200 with the wiring being the only hard part. For a head unit, I go with the cheaper Dual double din touch screens. Not the best but they have RCA outputs to get the job done and support Android Auto and Apple Car play.

    I ended up with an Accent hatchback as a rental maybe back in 2013. I didn't like the car at first, mainly because I'm a pretty big guy and the car was kind of cramped. However, once I got the car home, was able to adjust the seat better, and drove it some more, I ended up liking it quite a bit. I tell you, these little cars grow on you pretty quickly.

      Thanks! I put a lot of work into my videos so it's awesome to hear when someone enjoys it. I was even considering this car used just to bump around in. It is minimal on space but not bad considering, plus the gas mileage is great. My buddy has an Elantra with over 110k and it's been rock solid. Short of a few recalls, he's had no major issues and it rides very well for 8 years old. Happy hunting!

  • @rialknight

    That's the base model gls, the upper level gs is the best version of the Accent since it has Bluetooth, cruise control, fog lights, and better 16" wheels than the base 14", still at 138HP "stock" it's a nice lightweight small car

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  6 лет назад

    Hit that same road in a VW GTI or an FC chassis RX7; you’ll have a blast in either one.
    Side note: Most roads like that have no speed limit sign because the speed is enforced by aircraft (there are signs posted for that as well), so if you’re hitting NASCAR speed, the plane will pick up on it and send the nearest Chippies (CHP) your way.

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  5 лет назад

      Oh man, if I had an RX-7 I'd have flung myself right off the side real quick. There was a safe feeling being in such an under powered car but a fwd GTI would have been a blast.
      I assume you're right about the speed limit but usually you see signs for speed checked by aircraft, at least on the east coast. My defense would definitely be that it wasn't posted. Thanks for watching bud!

      Altek I was watching your Acura Legend video and noticed you were missing a center cap for your wheel. Have you ever tried rockauto.com???
      I get parts from these guys every so often and they always have good sales. Check them out brother, you might find some good stuff for your cars 😀

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  6 лет назад

      That's actually a full size spare from a sedan legend of the same year. The previous owner had it in the trunk, nice surprise for me to find. The regular rim does have the cap, the tire had a bubble in it and I've just been lazy to get new tires. Next spring I'm going to do the tires and possibly restore the rims since they look tight when they're shiny!

    • @sblexls
      @sblexls 6 лет назад +1

      Altek that’s cool bro. Good luck with getting the rims done.
      You going to have them restored? Check rockauto if the cost will be too high at the local shop. They have remanufactured rims and even replicas. I know they had them for our C240 so that was nice when I hit a pot hole and bent the wheel. LOL.
      Glad you still got the Legends 😁, keep them in good shape!

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  6 лет назад

      I'm going to do a review on the beaten up one to show what happens when you don't maintain something properly or overly use it. Should be funny. I'll never sell my golden twins!
      As for the rims, I'd want to get the originals refinished. I don't think they're bent or badly damaged just a bit rough so if I can stay all original, I'm going to. I'll definitely check out that place if I need to, thanks for the recommendation!
