I still remember "beating" King K. Rool for the first time, celebrating with my brother and my dad, and then getting killed immediately when he came back to life. So cheap, but so memorable. Can't wait to get the new game and relive the memories, even though Rool isn't the end boss.

This fight is a work of art and it should be in the text of how to create a perfect fight. You start easy and teach them you can only hurt the enemy when not wearing the crown. Then the real fight begins along with the music. Now you know you have to wait for him to throw the crown. And then you beat the guy but wait!! He returns!! Here, you can only evade his attack if you don't move, so the ones who dropped their controller falling for the prank are safe, because when the enemy comes back he doesn't jump at you, but if you panic jump you lose, totally fair. Final tension and then you beat him for good and the giant banana is your price. Genius.
It was my first time doing this boss fight, the fake credits came on, and I was like, "Yay! I beat it!" I only had Diddy on, and when it said, "The end?" I thought, "Huh." King K. Rool suddenly bounced on me, and that was it. I had to start all over again, and because of that, I just turned off the game.
Arturo, he was just stTing that it was difficult, no needto get your panties in a bunch, some find it easy and some find it hard. I rarely played this game since it was my cousins, but he did finish the game so i was able to battle him, and he was a challenge, i tell you that.
Lol sorry these guys are such butts Shy-guy. I had s lot of trouble with the third phase to. Luckily I was playing on the SNES classic, so I made a restore point after every attack of the final phase, so I could figure out exactly where to sit to avoid all his attacks. I figured that out, and then did the boss for “realsies”.
I never had a SNES back in the day, but my friend had and I remember playing this game. And since with the coming of the Wii and the Virtual Console, I finally had the chance to play this game again. DKC forever.
I was so damn happy when I finally beat King K Rool, then I went to go heat up popcorn to celebrate, came face-to-face with the GAME OVER screen, dropped my popcorn, ran to my room crying. I celebrated for nothing.
I just thought of a legitimate way to make this fight more awesome if they ever did a HD remake of this game. First of all, have him wear his Pirate outfit, but have his crown underneath (So he can still throw it at DK) Make King K only have 2 health points pre fake credits. Make King K have 10 health points post fake credits. These two tie into an idea I have. Post credits, the 'intense' portion of the song plays. A thunderstorm happens in the background and the entire ship rocks side to side. This makes the battle a LOT harder. DK needs to constantly move slightly to avoid sliding. Barrels and bananas should slide around in the background, but purely for aesthetics.

The thing I really love with Rare is how they always combine silly humour with great quality. I mean, look at games like Goldeneye 007 and this one, they make those pranks and jokes and fool about everywhere - BUT they never forget the quality. That's a wonderful combination that only Rare can pull of right.
My vote for smash ballot: King K. Rool Donkey Kong Country The game needs more heavy characters and surly bad guys, he have a great Nintendo history for movepool and it would feet great with the returning Donkey Kong 64 for the virtual console Wii U.
I remember as a kid when my brother and sister stood up instead of sitting to beat a game, that it was hitting high stress time. There wasn't a moment in DK Country I remember that at some level in every stage they stood up and were sweating profusely, especially in Blackout Basement and the ice level where all the ropes were super slippery.
Too bad, we got THIS K. Rool, but he does put the pirate hat on when firing his Blunderbuss, and he does have Barron K. Roolenstein's helicopter backpack.
What I thought was AWESOME was Donkey Kong Island off in the background there, reminding you of the time you spent and the lives you lost making it the final level.
